Merge Console and PC players or F2P?

You mean my opinion of: “you aren’t wrong that keyboard mouse and mouse are better than a controller”?

Mouse and keyboard players vs. controller players in a first person game with shooting mechanics?
No thanks.

When I still played TF2 people always asked how I did things I was doing as a Pyro.
Wacom Tablet!

As for merging PC with Consoles, the problem some other games are having is Chat.
Discord is probably the best fix for that but you still have to get people to signup for it.

I really enjoy this game (finally got an Advanced Saboteur clear). The big problem was the mediocre reviews. Most people take these reviews as fact, when it’s actually an opinion.

I own the Digital Deluxe edition as well. Most people checked out the review, and said… “eh not for me.”

Gearbox is a good developer, and has made many games that I spent hours upon hours in. So, i picked up this title to further support them, and stayed for the silly dialogue and great gameplay.

If we want more players, we just need to get together, all of us stream this game, answer questions about it, post positive reviews, and tell our friends.

I actually play my PC version of Battleborn when the early release of characters comes out cause I have the season pass on PC.
I ended up getting an XOne after, and had friends already playing BB on One, so I just joined their ranks instead.
Let me tell you, the 60 FPS, and turning speed with mouse is phenomenal and I dislike going back to console for a bit.
The first thing I will exclaim is “HOW DO YOU PEOPLE AIM WITH THIS THING!”

Merge Console and PC: Definite no. Not only for the advantage KB/M gives you but patching/updates would be a PITA for GB to manage.

F2P: As a day 1 DD/SP owner, I am all for it. There’s a lot of pros and if done right you won’t piss off your SP holders.

  1. F2P would bring in a huge influx of players which will allow them to tighten up that ELO again and give us faster more balanced games as well as the cash you could bring in which I’ll get into below.
  2. Current base game owners get access to the game and all character unlocks as they normally would (minus the 47k unlock requirements). As well as half price on DLC, skins, and taunts.
  3. Current DD/SP owners get full access to everything. Everything from (2.) plus all skins, all taunts, all bank slots, load outs, and all future DLC’s. If you’re willing to dish out that much cash to support a company, they should reward you the same.
  4. F2P get the starting characters and can unlock other characters for credits or at $1 each or maybe packages like 5 heroes for $3. Bank slots, up to maybe 60, can be bought for credits. After which, charge people $2 (or whatever is fair) for 20 more slots.

F2P pay full price for any taunts, skins, or DLC stories they want. 100% MT model.
or upgrade to the standard game for $25 or something to get those perks.
or upgrade to the DD/SP package for $50 or something to get those perks.

This way people who already paid (who are left) at least get something for their money.
If people want to play solely free and never buy anything, we’re happy because there are actually players to play with.

If you manage to bring in 50k players in a F2P model and only 10k of them spend $5 in your store during the first month, that’s $50k. But most people end up spending more than that on skins and taunts. After a month or two you may even have enough to hire additional help to push more content out faster.
Plus some people who try out the game may actually buy one of the upgrades. It’s at least bringing in some respectable sales for future development which bring in more players which drive more sales.
You know how much money you bring in for all those unsold copies of Battleborn?
How much money are all those inactive players spending on the cash shop?
How happy are your active players logging in to see there’s a whopping 325 players online right now at this time of this post? Or that we PEAKED at 622 concurrent players over the last 24 hours.

Granted my numbers above are just examples and obviously tweaks would be needed for who gets access to what, but FFS something needs to be done. 2K needs to accept the face they screwed up and there’s not going to be some miracle influx of players without a huge change to the play model. I’ll give them credit though for finally admitting that the sales did not meet expectations; something I think every single one of us knew.

It’s not a perfect solution but one I could see possibly breathing life into this game. It’s not in a good place right now. I know that, you know that, and the people who can’t really talk about it know it as well.

Yeah. I’ve played both PC and PS4 versions. PS4 version feels rough compared to the PC version.

If only the PS4 version had the controls/graphics of the PC version.
If only the PC version had the players of the PS4 version.

Ah well.

I realize it’s too late, but why wasn’t this game F2P from the start? It always kinda felt like it was setup that way. Especially after the MTs rolled out.

Because god forbid developers make money on the actual game, right? /endsarcasm

Besides, those are cosmetic, just about every Multiplayer game on the market has some form of microtransactions in them, and they aren’t f2p.

60fps deliver indeed a fantastic feeling for every game, Doom, Star Wars Battlefront & the multiplayer of Gears of War UE all run with 60fps on XBO and it feels so good. The tunring speed is not a controller thing, it is game dependent because in some games you can also on XBO adjust the turning speed extremly fast like with K & M for example the latest Doom.

I wish the guys at Microsoft would have been more clever and from the beginning they should have abandoned Kinect and instead put all the money into better GPU/CPU hardware for this console generation so all games run with 60fps.

Around three years ago i began to play on Xbox 360 & shortly after XBO and i can tell you – my first shooter on console was Crysis 2 and it was the pure horror … i played on the easiest difficulty and i hit the floor and ceiling more than the enemies. Then came Destiny and i was hooked by that game, it took me around 3 month after all the decades playing with K & M until controller gameplay was wired in my brain like K & M was before. That means i don’t have to think about what moves i want to do and what sticks & buttons i have to press then, it just happens now naturally.

While it feels different to play an EGO/Shooter game with a controller it now feels naturally and is exactly on the same level of fun for me like playing it with K & M.

Best regards.

Those cosmetics are not attached to a bogus currency where the conversion sucks and you’re always left with extra. That is a very F2P thing.

I’m good with a controller, and switching back to a controller after about 3ish years was a little bit of an obstacle, but I’m back to being fluid with it.
I just still prefer mouse and keyboard.
And if I’m convinced by a friend or family member to play an FPS on PC for awhile with them, the change back and forth to XOne and PC is jarring. Lol.

I’m not sure I can agree with you there, besides, if it really, truely bothers you, don’t buy into it. Just because it happens frequently in f2p games, doesn’t mean it’s exclusive to f2p games. MB coins, for instance, have a similar problem.

Cross Play could be a good idea.

I’m not saying battleborn needs to follow evolve exactly, and I don’t want to see it become F2P. I just think it needs a good reworking and, a new marketing campaign

No it wouldnt.
F2P never works out well.
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What,in your opinion, needs a reworking?
Im curious.
