Mild change(s) to galilea to help people play against her

That’s why I switched the skills. I removed the escape spell, put desecrate there, and put “it too dangerous to go alone” in desecrate’s place. Also, I’d rename the skill “Master Sword”, and “it’s dangerous to go alone” could give you a healing aura a full health? Make more sense with the name. BOOM! Two Zelda References!

You’ve obviously thought this through a lot more than me lol.
My only other suggestion for a compromise, keep the skill to make Galilea still formidable but take away the ranged effect? A melee character firing bullets, I like the versatility but not the outright advantage that it provides.

You know, even though it would compromise the zelda reference…maybe removing the ranged aspect might be a good idea. I’m not going to say it’s the best idea, but she can already stun at range as a melee, why let her attack at range as a melee?

I’m not saying I 100% support this, but it seems like a viable road to go down, at least if nothing better can be thought up. What is the other helix option at the level anyways, isn’t the other one increased damage when your shield is gone?

Do any Gali players actually choose ‘Sentinel Stance’ (Actively blocking incoming damage causes Galilea’s Corruption to increase.)?

If not, maybe it should be replaced with something that’s actually on par with ‘It’s dangerous to go alone’.

Galilea’s fine. Only OP char in this game is marquis

Well this isn’t entirely about nerfing galilea, but about helping people deal with her. If we make it so her stun isn’t as guarenteed, and people have a way of stopping/avoiding it, then people might feel less like galilea is “OP”.

Increased damage when without shield is another level, 6 I think but I’d have to double check. I like that skill, it encourages aggression when you’ve lost your best defense.

I think only new and experimental players choose the other option lol, good suggestion!

would the shield be able to scale walls? there should be some verticality to it, otherwise people could just escape me killing them via jumping.

The idea would be for it to still move quickly, though if you think it’s coming, jumping could be a good way to avoid it. Scaling walls doesn’t sound like it would really benefit gally… but I don’t see why it shouldn’t be able to, I suppose.

I disagree, Marquis is easily avoided and easily countered. The bigger characters are more susceptible to Marquis but if you know where he’s perched either avoid his line of sight of keep moving to throw him off and flank. I’d been in games where opposing Marquis dominated my team but seldom did he dominate me, it’s the same argument against Galilea or any other supposed “OP” character if you know how Marquis plays you can learn how to counter that playstyle. I found Thorn far more troublesome, between her mobility and Blight she can evade or eliminate you better than any other character in the game.

Marquis does far more damage than galilea for going on his zero-risk-point-and-click adventures tho. he can also take out the sentry very effectively.

Your change might be nice, i’d love to have some moments jumping over that shield as Benidict or Thorn but I am way OK with her as is. Regardless what we think, it looks like a serious nerf at release is inevitable and we can only hope Gearbox doesn’t give her the axe. For me i’d like to increase the time it takes to recharge the shield HP, not sure what it was during the beta but whatever it was I want it to be more punishing to lose her shield HP. It would force her to have a little more thought put into choosing her battles if she was just a little more vulnerable in someway. Especially since a Miko is nearly always found hovering around her. Hell i’d go for making her shield have less HP, that may be a little overkill but I don’t pick her so no skin of my bones if it happened.

I believe something similar happened with Phoebe in the CTT preview. From what I understand Gearbox took Phoebe’s stun in that instance and i’d expect they may do the same with Galilea. Maybe they’ll change it to a slow or something but I think making more melee characters with zero stuns/knockup is a mistake.

Making it on par is like saying Phoebe stun should have stayed and the H1 L should give her teleport a shorter stun so people have a reason to pick it.

It needs a number decrease in general or add more limitation. A melee shouldn’t be outperforming range attackers from range by having one of the easier to land sweeping AoE projectile just because she reached Level 3.

Something like…

Instead of “Shoot bolt while full health” into “Shoot bolt while corruption is filled but drain a portion of corruption for each bolt.”

Less room to counter (since you can’t just shield-pen to disable it before she gets healed) but Galiea can’t just run in, shield throw and 100-0 you anymore either with it because her filling the corruption bar gives people a lot more room to react.

Yep if ‘It’s dangerous to go alone’ is nerfed then ‘Sentinel Stance’ will be closer to on par, so all good.

I don’t feel like galilea is outperforming any character at range though. Her bolts do damage, yes. It may be “easy to hit with” yes, but hitscan will always be undeniably easier to hit with, and ranged attackers do way way more damage at range than galilea does with the projectiles from “It’s dangerous to go alone” by itself. It’s when the damage from the projectiles stacks on the damage from her melees does she start doing a lot of damage, but that damage is still easily nullified by not fighting galilea 1v1, and not getting caught off guard by her (ignoring a counter like shield pen). If you succeed at those two things, she shouldn’t be able to kill you, at least not nearly as easily.

Withe character having been tweaked just a few days ago in the open beta, I’d wait for at least a few weeks of live play before nerfing further.

Of course, taking these things slowly is important, however my original suggestions are more focused at helping other players deal with the character, rather than specifically nerfing her because she may or may not be too strong.

I’m mostly just trying figure out how to quell people screaming “Galilea is OP” without really nerfing her, as I’m sure the cries of the people will be heard once again when the game releases.

The best way to " quell people screaming “Galilea is OP” without really nerfing her" is to have them play her for a while and have their rear ends handed to them enough times. :smiling_imp:

Haha, true enough. But you can’t force people to play a character, especially if they haven’t unlocked the character yet.
