Against stationary targets, the wave detonations aren’t a problem. Against mobile enemies, consider your safety buffer at risk of degradation. Which is why my preferences are either (Sticky) Longbow or regular Homing – the first is a nuke in all but name and effects, and the second allows evacuation in the face of hyper-aggressive enemies. But that’s just me. If you can make it work…
When facing mobs, I lead with the grenade and support it with DPUH or Bearcat. Then run in behind killing the survivors.
For one on one I use Fastball or a slag transfusion.
Ah. Depends on what is happening, but I’m a Longbow Quasar or Homing Slag Transfusion, both with impact fuses.
I like the normal lobbed grenades with around 0,5-1,0 sec fuse time. I throw the grenade in front of an enemy that’s coming for me. With a bit of practice, I am able to lead my enemies’ way exactly to where he/she/it will be by the time it makes boom.
That’s the main reason why I actually like longbow-grenades with some fuse time too.
O well, Converge + Meteor Shower = Lots of fun and dead bodies!
as a reminder: This thread is NOT about weapon efficiency or optimization.
This thread is about the accuracy of the tooltip and the “weapon comparison” feature for grenades.
- Specifically, MIRV type grenades vs other grenade types.
I like rubberised meteor showers / rolling thunder. Toss them a bit in front of you and they bounce into mobs. Very pleasing.
@Gulfwulf I am continually concerned by your disdain for what we might call ‘dangerous’ gear. Apparently your Krieg has an unironic ‘safety first’ tattoo on his chest.
@Zarnias Yes, although that original issue was answered pretty thoroughly months ago, and it’s not unusual for a thread about a weapon type’s characteristics to discuss tactics and optimisation in weapon choice.
Threads do tend to derail when people like us are around don’t they?
– in the voice of a war hardened veteran – the derailing I’ve seen… – shudders –
This one is pretty OT as far as I can tell. Derch hasn’t turned up to tell us off yet anyway.
RPGs have inconsistent tool tip descriptions. See the electrocute damage vs shock damage debacle, which has led to some confusion, especially for some TPS COMs.
You are right that it is inconsistent. The only real explanation is just cuz’
.
My guess is that the X8 or something is there just to give an idea of the number of child grenades and should not be considered when checking for damage.
A good example of that is the kiss of death, where the X number only represents the number of healing trails, and not a damage multiplier.
Yes, it is inconsistent with how shotguns are displayed, but there are also many examples of the opposite: The harold has multiple projectiles, but only one of them is on the card.
I don’t think it’s really inconsistent per se, but it does bring some confusion about
@Piemanlee/@hattieinduni: Well, I have been accused of masterminding the TEx wreck…:

…although that one I think we are all to blame for. (starts Fingerpointing):
To the topic at hand, tho, the Dva Infinity apparently doesn’t list the cloned projectile…
@boombumr: You mean ‘because reasons’?
My only confusion with the mirv listing is it does list the number of ‘projectiles’, it just doesn’t consider them for comparative purposes. So if I compare two shotguns, it does inform me that some have a different pellet spread making up their damage, but you compare their raw damage efficacy with all the pellets included. Whereas on a mirv grenade of course the number of child grenades are just ignored. It is inconsistent.
In the past I have got a calculator out and multiplied what the total damage is for comparison. Of course it’s not the same as finding out the damage that a grenade will actually do, so part of me suspects it would be better to think about child grenades in the way that the game suggests as it’s likely that some child grenades won’t hit anything, but I’m not sure.
There is quite a lot of confusion in damage listing. One expects that for crazy unique weapons but grenades are particularly obscure. I wish it said, for instance, how much the ‘blistering’ shower of bullets from a bouncing bettie does in damage.
Which wreck is this?

Hey, I live dangerously, I’m a badass.
TEx= Tundra Express
You’re something, alright, but I don’t know if “badass” covers it.
And what would that be?

@hattieinduni: Grumpy Cat, meet Sour Puss…
