Being able to change mix and match their outfits was an idea too, mix it up, you know? Different pieces of different outfits, random odds and ends. Like maybe shirts, pants, even separate hair styles.
It’s definitely a wish list but the workbench idea I really wanted to see for borderlands 2.
Technically they’re still playing right? They’re looking at all the game had to offer. Most players still spend more time in sanctuary than killing bad guys. Especially at higher levels, and 9 times out of 10 their inventory is full of loot they don’t know what to do with. I like energy shields better than just armor pieces, but only having single outfits gets boring.
The only objection I would have to your work bench idea is that it would take some of the RNG out of what is supposed to be a ‘find the best loot’ type of game as opposed to ‘build the best loot’ game. It fits in well in games like Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls but not so musch in the Borderlands series (now if they made it into a MMORPG then that would be a different story- did I ever telll you about the life stealing, magica draining, paralysis causing greatsword I made in Oblivion? It was totally sweet… )
I made an infinite potion in Morrowind, some of the effects surpassed the threshold and showed as permanent. The nonpermanent ones would have lasted 80.5 years in real life.
Not really taking from either, you couldn’t make anything legendary tier, and you’d still be running and gunning your way through the game. It’s more like being able to better equip yourself for the next mission/level/boss etc… rather than farming enemies for a chance at a weapon that, lets face it; many of us will never see.
In that case, I’d like a mod that allowed your Vault Hunter to have a small white dog as a pet. Said dog would wear a mustache, monocle and slightly-askew tophat on its head and bark incessantly at Claptrap and answer to the name “Sir Woofie von Woofington III”.
A companion would be cool, but that sounds like Tiny Tina found a dog and claimed it.

As long as the dog comes with a minimum 39-slot backpack, can attack enemies and earn XP for you, and can be told to find rare items, I’m all in! The name needs a bit of work though… How about “Woofster” for short?
If you made the parts the same as the current ‘loot’ it could work and be very much in the same vein as the current system, just make the parts have levels and ranges as the current weapons do. That way it would not just be build the best weapon and stick with it, you would need to upgrade / rebuild / build as the parts were leveled out.
