Mods won't start up

Hello here,

I am a new Homeworld player and I am trying to mod my Homeworld but everytime I try to start up any mod it will either start the homeworld application and then close right after or it wont start at all! I would love someone helping me with this one so please do!

Also …\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HwRM.log is your crash log (but that’s when you’ll actually get it running).

well apperantly i do have that log, do you want to look at it and help me?

don’t know if you will have any useful information in the log if you don’t have “-luatrace” in your shorcut

i could do that! so im guessing in the steam startup thingy!

I suppose, yes. I always create a specific shorcut to launcher.exe when I test my own mods, so you will need confirmation from someone else on this.

I cant get the command line in the shortcut it wont allow me to change the target thing

You were trying to load a singleplayer mission (M14) with a mod ?

Okay ill just explain what I do,

I run the steam homeworld game yeah,

I get to the menu where you chose if you want to play hw 1 rm hw 2 and so forth so i click the mod tab, click on the mod that i want to play select it and press launch.

Then the homeworld exe starts up and immediatly crashes without even showing any sort of menu. Or crash notification.

this is with any mod. The mod that the log shows is the homeworld starwars mod!

Also could anybody explain how to make that -luatrace work cause i dont seem to get it working since the pc wont allow me to change it target on the exe

the log doesn’t show anything about the starwars mod, so yes, I think you need -luatrace

Did you manage to make the shorcut to “launcher.exe” ?

I also found out that my windows explorer crashes whenever the game crashes.

your shorcut seems ok to me.

The fact that your explorer also crash is perhaps a sign that homeworld is not the cause of this. I don’t know, it’s difficult to say :confused:

could you give me a small mod that you know runs so we can test out if its the mod or the game :smiley:

also could you please give me a command line that changes the dimensions of the game in 1600,900
cause i think the game is crashing because of its video aspect cause the aspect ratio starts off really weird and then it crashes

concerning a mod that works, I can’t help you as I haven’t use any from steam.

For the resolution, you can try to add -w 1600 -h 900

Is there a different way to install mods on your homeworld,
