But really, all exploit builds are dull and provide nothing creative, challenging, new, interesting. I refuse to pack a Norfleet even though I have a bunch in various lockers. I also refuse to go over 250 stacks - not because I dislike the accuracy loss at 400 (even though I do) but because of the time it takes. One death = rage quit.

I play for enjoyment and mental stimulation. I kinda figure all the rational people here are the same.

I have grown to detest builds involving shamfleeting. Utterly undermines what Gaige is capable of.

Someone probably posted a similar build somewhere else. The game is 5 years old now, there aren’t many original builds left.

And while we’re here, let’s remember that everyone enjoys something different from the game. While shamfleeting may be boring to you, it is a play style that exists within the game’s mechanics. And to be honest, as cheesy as it is, it is also one of the highest DPS set-ups on any character, and if one defines the “best” build as the one that does the most damage, they would have to include shamfleeting as one of the best builds.

Just playing devil’s advocate.

To be fair, this is a game involving numbers. “Easy outs” in these types of games often give consistently higher numbers for the least effort, ergo being more “efficient”. It’s a mindset that just goes with the RPG genre (this is one of the only RPGs where people aren’t clamoring toward 1 or 2 builds for every character, a testament to how well balanced the game is) that >damage+<effort=better. If efficiency is what your friend wants, then shamfleeting fits the bill.

I agree with you in the “to each his own” aspect and endorse that concept fully. What bothered me was his absoluteness on this was most powerful end of story, other builds are a waste of time. That’s what I am disagreeing with. I try not to condemn anyone as I am no saint myself. By all means, if you like playing the game that way, then do it. Doesn’t mean I have to play that way or like it and you don’t have to play my way and/or like it.

But don’t tell me I’m doing it wrong. Because there is no wrong way to play. That’s what we were disagreeing about, if this helps clear up everything.

Thoughts on this build? Trying to go for dps without having to shamfleet. Thinking of putting my legendary anarchist as the class mod but open to farming other mods if they fit the build better. Also gear suggestions? Im getting more into gaige and away from my Maya so i know im going to need to start farming for shottys and trading someone for a fibber but any other suggestions help.

The trick with identifying any ‘best’ or ‘most powerful’ is establishing a set of specific metrics or benchmarks against which you grade the candidates. With each of those terms being somewhat fluid, depending on context, the ideal approach should be to incorporate a variety of content to throw them at.

While this likely seems indeterminate, you can start to recognize patterns when you look at things like the TT leaderboards. If you’re seeing the same things in top positions against raids and arenas, you’ll be onto something.

I just find irritating to deal with someone so narrow minded like that. Don’t tell me I’m wrong because I’m playing different than you.
I think my build is great; is it the best? For me, yes, because it fits my playstyle and is tailored to what I like. Does that make it THE best of all? No.

I poured over as much information as possible when I was playing Gaige. Incidently, this was also my very first character and first time playing this game EVER. So I researched and studied, asking questions to more experienced players. The whole planning process and developing my characters and her skills consumed my every moment.

In that time I learned about so many great ways to play and so many powerful setups. All vastly different, but all equally valid in claims to strength. The diversity of it all is what drew me in and keeps me playing. And this community is wonderful in helping others and being awesome in general. There is no wrong in how to play - except maybe playing like this is any other FPS. Because I made that mistake at first and it did NOT work out.

Well, there it is, then. You’ve identified “most enjoyable for me” as your metric for ‘best’, and you know what? There are exactly zero arguments that trump fun in a non competitive video game.

You are, by the most suitable definition, winning!

I will say, that the person disagreeing with me handled our debate very maturely. He did not insult anyone or spew a bunch of hate. It was a calm and honest debate. I thanked him for treating it, and me, like that because so many people are jerks on the internet.

I plan to use deathtrap as a meat shield (sorry buddy) because imo deathtrap isn’t too powerful on op8 and id rather have my character doing the work rather than dt.

For elementals, i’d use them depending on the enemy. i wouldnt go exclusively shock like alot of other mecros and would much rather boost base gun damage and use the element best suited for the situation.

Even using DT as a meat shield, I would get Sharing is Caring. Have you seen DT with an Antagonist? Lots of Slag for Gaige, that has none naturally.

Forget about Potent as a Pony, as it wont payoff if you are not using the Legendary Roboteer.
And get Upshot Robot. Even using DT as a meat shield and distraction, more uptime is always good.

Edit: More Pep is kinda wasted.

Agreed with Gabriel. Also, I would swap the More Pep into Strength of 5 Gorillas, so Death Trap can have a chance to deal damage.

I’d keep a point in More Pep to get a boost from coms and use the other 4 points in Robot rampage, Upshot Robot and maybe 5% Cooler or So5G, depending on the coms you have- even as a meat shield you want him to carry the fight just a bit, which he can do against trash mobs even at OP8…

An Antagonist is a great SiC shield, buuuuut… Gaige does have slag via Interspersed Outburst in the Catalyst tree. The mechanic is simple enough. Shoot once, wait a sec, shoot again with a chance to slag. It basically allows you use any non-slag weapon to slag in the same time frame it would take you to switch weapons or toss a grenade.
