This gets to me as well, cats totally hate that!
Would also be nice to give the cat some animation so it doesn’t look so stiff 
on a side note my cat loves having his fur ruffled <3
The cat is imaginary though it’s literally Kleese acting the part of the evil genius you can’t expect him to know how to pet a cat.
To this very day I still wonder if the backwards cat was intentional or not.
