I’ve been in a lot of fights with 10-12 at once. I’ve been surrounded, taking fire from all sides before. Granted, they miss quite a bit, and don’t do a lot of damage, but considering the amount of damage they take, I sometimes feel like I’m playing “left mouse button: the game”.
To each their own. I like Ava personally, she reminds me a bit of Tina in BL2, but a much more sane version of her. I personally hope she is the playable Siren in Borderlands 4, since she will probably be 18 by then. But if she is going to be the leader of the Crimson Raiders like they hinted at instead, that is also fine by me.
Get into a bit more than you did before…I almost guarantee it will get its hooks into you!
I think I don’t like the graphic appeal of the wasteland and the psycho enemies much (literally, the psycho, the one on the cover).
I quite like that there are more planet for Borderlands 3 (read about it beforehand, might have motivated me) and then I realised the (relatively simplistic) story was quite amusing!
And the huge open map are great!
(after years of Overwatch and ridiculously small maps)
I do also think TPS is far superior and unique than 3
BL3 is just another in the long line of modern games and sequels with great potential that just failed to deliver fully
It’s a decently fun romp (completely due to the improved gun handling and no thanks to the horrendous story) but it will not be garnering my attention beyond the dlc releases unless a bunch of things change tbh.
It definitely has a lot of those why did they make this so big if it’s just going to be empty annoying plains you are forced to travel to get from point a to b. I’m all for large worlds, but when 70% of it is just empty monotonous nonsense, why even bother? It’s just artificial spam so they can say it’s the biggest world ever and all that BS sales jargon.
Mr MF T!!
“To each their own. I like Ava personally, she reminds me a bit of Tina in BL2, but a much more sane version of her.”
You are a mystery to me. Every time after the first vault encounter with Ava i kept shooting at her face during her dialogue. Immature, arrogant, delusional are the three words I’d describe her. Its not “her” per say, its the writers that wrote that crap that im severely annoyed with.
I liked all the characters by the end, though I never hated Ava in the first place. For me, BL3 is the best base game in the series. And while the story in 2 and maybe TPS flowed better, I’ve enjoyed 3’s ending and gameplay more. I’ve even managed a start-finish solo run, whereas previous games quickly became a dull slog for me at best if I wasn’t playing with friends.
TPS had characters I wanted to play more of in a game I could barely stomach through the first play through. It wasn’t wholly terrible, but I’d rank it below 3 and 2. Both TPS and 2 had DLC that I enjoyed more than the base game, however.
Borderlands 3 is my favorite in the series already.
The Vault Hunters of TPS had the coolest synergies between their gear and skills but lacked the content up to their challenge. Mobs of enemies were weak and thin and there were very few tough enemy types. The environment design, while absolutely stunning, was just so heavily oppressive all the time. And a lot of the humor just doesn’t quite work if you don’t understand the Australian slang/references, which I don’t. I do love a gun that swears though.
Borderlands 2 had amazing environments, story, music and loads of content that was packed with action. But I was really never fond of having to farm a select pool of weapons to deal with a lot of that content at UVHM or higher and I never quite found a Vault Hunter that clicked with me either. It’s a lot of personal preferences that hold it back for me, I do recognize it as a masterpiece though.
Borderlands 3 doesn’t hit everything perfect, but what doesn’t click with me is smaller in count or scale than the other two. I don’t think it’ll truly be the masterpiece that 2 was, but it’ll probably be a better game if that makes sense.
I am actually playing it alongside BL3 haha.
I’ve stopped playing it due to the console overheating issue. I’ve personally never, knock on wood, had any problems with any of the bugs people bring up here, but then I’m a fairly light player in comparison. Hell, I still haven’t maxed my Amara.
The repeat reporting, videos, and lack of word from Gearbox regarding an issue that could potentially damage my console is something I just can’t get over.
By the by, normally I’d never, ever, do this but the new Destiny 2 expansion is effing amazing.
My brother bought it for me because he knows I’ve cut off Bungie (like, EA & non Blizzard Activision games) and won’t give them a cent willingly, and he wanted Simeon to help him out. Even then there was a lot of bitching on my part.
I’ve had to eat shazz though because, even thought is early, Bungie finally applied a decent variety of gear with interesting perks, decent storytelling, a good mix of things to do, to it and made it a proper story based shoot and loot game.
There are some genuinely spooky moments to.
Also if you like Castlevania, Bloodstained is the shazz. It’s got so many things in it it fills my collecting need as well. So many abilities and weapons that tweak things enough to not get stale.
At least until Gearbox gets things together.
i say, finish first the campaign before you rate it.
I don’t really get from where people are getting this “empty levels” idea, when most large maps have vehicles for you to travel around, it takes you like 10 or so secs to get to an area with enemies on it, and while you’re travelling, there’s always an enemy vehicle chasing you and shooting at you… literally there’s always something going on, unless you’re standing still in some corner of the map. Heck, even enemy respawn is faster in this game than the previous games.
I’m starting to think some people are becoming too impatient to play this game, or something like that…
The irony in this post is hilarious.
I think some people certainly are.
I choose to travel almost everywhere on foot, at least until I have no “fog” left on the map, all crew challenges complete, and all area side missions completed.
I really do enjoy exploring, taking in the scenery.
But compared to the incredibly frequent mobs of spiderants, bullymongs, rakks, stalkers, varkids, threshers, skags, etc, in the previous titles, there are so few enemies on the Maps.
It was a bit better on Pandora with somewhat frequent skags, but not by much.
All too often, that lone vehicle harassing me will be the only enemy I see for quite some time.
This game needs more enemy types / species, and more frequent mobs of them.
Eden-6 has dinosaurs. DINOSAURS! That is amazing!
Sadly, there seem to be about 25 of them IN TOTAL for the whole planet.
I am not impatient. I passed 50 hours of game time today and I’m only level 29 at Chapter 11 of 24 on my first character.
I do truly enjoy exploring, though.
Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, as well as Ghost Recon: Wildlands, all also had huge, gorgeous, incredible to explore maps with enemies contained to fairly scattered “hot zones”.
But Borderlands has always been about frantic, relentless, gonzo combat.
Until…now.
Wtf am I reading? TPS is better than 3? Yeah no just stop.
Also by me, just a few days ago.
I’d love to read your rebuttal on why / how BL3 is better than TPS, after you’ve read my post I linked just up there!
I’m always up for a healthy exchange of opinions and ideas!
