I could nerf everything. The melee section was for the most part copy/pasted from the old forums of BL2.
We had the Rapier with +200% melee damage, so I thought the melee-only weapons should outperform the Rapier.
If you had a gun with 200% melee that you could also shoot,what would be the point of a melee-only weapon with 80-150% that could not shoot?
Which is the reason everything has a special effect.

I’ll go and attempt to balance them, since we don’t have anything with more than 50% melee now.
Still, we can have +50% melee on a gun, which means that any melee-only weapon will have to outperform that.
And the thing is that the +50% melee on guns is there from level 1 to level 70. The melee weapons will have to somehow be able to outperform a gun’s melee at all levels.

the biggest melee buff i can accept as balanced is 300%, and thats pushing it. plus, in tps since theres no guns that give more than 50% i find 200% is a bit much.

you should need more than a cool axe to become a melee charachter.

although scaling with levels would be a decent way to fix bladed guns.

Melee-only weapons could have fixed amounts of damage, that scales with their level, just like damage for guns does, instead of percentages.
But then there’s the issue of representing that value here.
What damage would I say a melee weapon has? For guns I say high/increased/massive, and you have a rough idea of how powerful it is (or I mention nothing if the weapon is not centered around damage but its special effect). But how could I do this with melee-only weapons? I can say 200% and you know roughly what it is capable of, but there are no melee-only weapons in any BL game. I have no point of reference to be able to say “high damage” for a melee-only weapon. I could compare melee damage to the damage that certain guns have. Like pistols, with low damage, or sniper rifles with high damage.

That sounds better in my head. And it would be easier to imagine the scaling of it. A melee-only weapons damage is just like a gun’s damage. Set amount, and it increases with the item’s level.

Highest full-auto fire rate in-game (20.2)
Enemies killed by this have a very high chance of dropping grenades.

Full auto.
Decreased damage.


Kraken
It burns when I pee.
Scav shotgun.
+35% damage reduction.
+45% elemental resistance.
While in your hands, it set you on fire.
Inflicts fire damage, along with the element it spawns with.


Propaganda
What’s a mob to a king?
Vladof rocket launcher.
Shoots sticky rockets. Upon hitting a surface or enemy, the rockets explode, remain stuck, and release a nova shortly after.

Moving Platinum rarity here because the original post surpassed the limit of characters (75000). Imagine that.

Introducing a new rarity: Platinum

  • Platinum gear is one step above pearlescent weapons.
  • They can only spawn at the highest level of your current playthrough (30, 50, 60).
  • If dropped from enemies that you killed, they drop in a mini lootsplosion, along with money, moonstones, health, ammo, etc.
  • If found in a weapon chest, there are no other weapons inside.
  • When picked up, your character reads out the item’s red text.

Anshin

Angel
My perfect little angel.

  • Sniper rifle. Stats comparable to Hyperion.
  • +150% critical damage. 100% accuracy.
  • Shooting an ally in FFYL restores a portion of their revive bar.
  • Has a chance to instantly revive allies.


Freya’s Kiss
Stand tall.

  • Anshin pistol.
  • Stats equivalent to Dahl pistol.
  • Increases team max health.
  • Can spawn with all manufacturer barrels.
  • Each barrel grants a different effect:
  • Scav: + Mag size | Tediore: + Reload speed | Jakobs: + Multiplicative crit
  • Maliwan: + Elem. effect damage/chance | Torgue: Explosive splash
  • Vladof: Double fire rate | Dahl: Burst fire with low recoil | Hyperion: Reverse recoil.


Manchineel
Come closer.

  • Anshin SMG. Stats equivalent to Hyperion.
  • Grants slow health regeneration.
  • Enemies attacking you have a chance to suffer from the status effect of its element.


Bliss
Hush now.

  • Anshin grenade mod.
  • Delivery: Either lobbed sticky or longbow sticky.
  • Thrown grenade sticks to surface and creates a safety zone.
  • Allies in the zone receive +25% fire rate, +25% reload speed and regenerate health.
  • Safety zones last for 10 seconds.

Pangolin

The Game
You can’t kill me, I’m in the sequel.

  • Pangolin shotgun.
  • Stats comparable to Scav (lower damage, higher accuracy)
  • Stackable shield restoration upon kill. Each kill adds 1%.
  • Stacks lost if the weapon is unequipped or if you die.


Mole
Yummy. More.

  • Pangolin pistol.
  • Stats comparable to Maliwan (no splash, consumes 1 ammo).
  • Doubles the amount of non-gear items you pick up (ammo, health vials etc).


Bobbit
The horror.

  • Pangolin laser. Maliwan barrel.
  • Stats comparable to Dahl (higher damage/no burst).
  • Beam locks on the enemy under your crosshairs.
  • Once locked, the enemy is slowly pulled towards you.


FTW
I choose you.

  • Pangolin grenade mod.
  • Throwing a grenade mod digistructs a jumbuck. Up to two jumbucks at a time.
  • Jumbucks have their own life bar, and will disappear if you unequip the grenade mod.

Maliwan


Hellbender
It took years of discipline and practice.

  • Assault rifle.
  • Spawns as cryo only.
  • Shooting at shields deals additional shock damage.
  • Shooting at flesh deals additional incendiary damage.
  • Shooting at armor deals additional corrosive damage.
  • If an enemy is frozen, you deal additional explosive splash damage.
  • +2.5% life steal.
  • Consumes four ammo per shot.


Vermin

  • Shotgun.

  • Projectiles that connect but do not kill, knock back enemies and traveling until they meet a solid surface and explode upon impact.
  • +20% explosive damage on you.


Sentry
It’s a keeper.

  • Laser. Hyperion barrel.
  • Can spawn with any element.
  • +500% projectile range.
  • +500% critical damage.
  • 100% accuracy. No recoil.
  • While in your hands, you cannot move.


Magpie

  • SMG.
  • Very high fire rate.
  • Consumes two ammo per shot.
  • Bullets that connect with enemies add two bullets in the magazine.

Well, I do have some items that were not conceived by me, like the Bessie SR, the Double Anarchy, and most melee items. Some items are reworked old ones, like the Reaper pistol, and the Crux shotgun etc. But yeah. I do like coming up with effects, red texts, and names.

I saw that lol @impala I have 2 gun suggestions a laser that shoots like piccolo’s special beam cannon and a grenade called Hellzone that has child grenades surround up to 4 enemies and then has the individual child grenades converge on them like piccolo’s Hellzone grenade sorry too lazy for red texts and descriptions

I absolutely LOVE the Copycat. I’ve wanted a gun that copies your grenades, and I never considered a tediore reload. Which…actually makes more sense than anything else really. A copycat grenadier would be kind of really strong. But a tediore reload? PERFECT. Imagine Salvador with that.
