Hello. I started up my character today and it suddenly has 11 extra skill points. I’m thinking this was from playing in a public game. I don’t use modded gear or weapons, and never even pick them up, so I don’t know how these got on my character. I’ve kept this character mod free for years, and now this happens. I’m so pissed. Does anyone know what this might have been, and if I can get rid of them?
I’m guessing that I am screwed and will have to resort to unsavory methods to remove them. I’m thinking I might have auto-picked them up or something? I don’t know.
That is likely the easiest solution. This game is almost 13 years old. I still wish it had a better remake that fixed some of this, and other things lol
the other idea is maybe search your hard drive for an older save file or profile backup I back up my files every week
There is a save editor for PC called Willowtree that you can use to fix messed up missions and other character stats, like your extra skill points. However, it is against forum rules to mention this if you’re playing on consoles, so ssssssh.
11 is an odd number, btw. I think that’s how many one of the patches way back in the day added in, I think it was the General Knoxx DLC. Just odd the amount you got was exactly that many. For reference, you should be able to get up to 69 total skill points legit. 65 from levels, +4 from DLCs if you do the right missions. I remember you get 1 from each Moxxi playthrough, I’ve forgotten where the last two come from.
Yeah that was the thing. It was a perfect character without mods, having only ever accidentally picked up a few in public games and immediately dropping them. I had every inventory slot on that character, which took me forever. It was a clean game for YEARS, and after one point with picking up the modded stuff, I only picked up items from enemies I killed, which is now the majority of my playing time. The game’s over 10 years old so I can’t be too mad I guess lol.
The Robolution DLC provides a skill point per play through.
I know exactly how you feel. I used to play on consol and I remember opening up my game to public just to get some Coop game play and someone joined my game and immediately downed me. I went into fight for your life with just the simple joining my game. I heard after taking a knee, “Sorry! I forgot to take my death mod off” I immediately kicked the player. I didn’t even know that could happen on consol. The moral of the story, don’t open your game to public, to many nasty corrupt players out there looking to crash your game for a laugh. I haven’t been on a public settin since. it’s a shame that some have to ruin it for all.
