Yeah you would be lying if you said those boomerangs weren’t good but surprising and beating the f*ck out of marquis is always nice
I’ll never yell at anyone over a mic, but I will certainly mock people to myself or my friends. Tanks who are constantly dying, healers that won’t heal, etc.
It’s true that each character can be played different ways, but they’re each designed to fit a role. If you’re not playing them to fit that role, you’re being a detrement to your team.
Edit: I’ll add that the two times I’ve heard people get on mic about this sort of thing, they were constructive about it.
i get in pug groups constantly with people playing their role incorrectly or not properly…i make sure i can handle myself if that happens.
Mikos that don’t heal and think they can take on f*cking anyone annoy me to the bitter end. You play miko for what he’s supposed to be A FRICKIN HEALER!!!
In “the heat of battle” people generally don’t have time to write overly kind messages. Much faster to say “Thorn Get the turret” than “X, can you please destroy the turret since you are the only sniper on the team”
Which reminds me.
Ranged players; Destroy the turrets, please
Haha
No but being more serious about this, people should really act a little nicer towards your fellow players even if their skills aren’t up to your standards. Saw someone bully a new player (CR9 I think) to the point they disconnected. We tried saying that it’s all about the fun and doesn’t matter if we don’t win but this person wouldn’t stop being mean.
It’s just a game, there is literally no reason to act mean, and honestly you have no right to do so just because someone isn’t as good as you. I don’t give a damn if they aren’t playing according to their characters role. Stop with the insults. You can have any nasty ass opinions you want, but learn to keep them to yourself.
Giving advice is okay. Giving ■■■■ is not.
It’s just irritating when people forget they can heal. I’ve watched Mikos stand next to me at supply stations and do nothing. I ping the ground next to me hoping they get it but no, they just stand there. Why play a healer if you don’t heal? If you wanna play a fast mid-ranged DOTer, they made Mellka for a reason.
That’s why I started with ‘get that turret plz’
I’m aware it’s impossible to be overly nice in the heat of battle, but 3 letters takes hardly any time and makes a world of difference
But you’re right, we could use a little more friendliness in game.
This should be gospel.
Are you new to online games? This behavior is just par for the course unfortunately, and probably will be so long as people are playing the game. Battleborn is actually pretty tame compared to some other games (Dota and LoL come to mind).
So, while you certainly can play characters as you desire, expect to get flamed by people if that playstyle is outside of the character’s traditional role.
Sure, I’ll take the bait. Oh, I’ve seen Mikos top damage too! I mean, her primary is an attack, nothing wrong with primarily using that, amirite? Built right with helix’s, she can be a real threat on the battlefield!
Seriously, if all you do is ‘rang’ your enemies, you are a doing it wrong, plain and simple. It has its uses, but sole damage dealer is not one of them.
Being on the internet does not make it okay to act like a jerk and we should all strive to be better towards each other. Not everyone is going to do that (And it definitely isn’t easy) but doesn’t hurt to try remind everyone that it is real life people they are playing and interacting with. With their own lives and their own troubles and feelings and thoughts. Giving someone ■■■■ over a video game is never appropriate, no matter how much we think “Oh well it’s the internet, of course it happens”
I’m not condoning this behavior, simply pointing out that it almost always happens.
This is one of the things I hate about online games and why I almost exclusively play with people I know. Getting ■■■■ over a video game is stupid.
you CAN helix choice into a full ranged spec. if you are so closed minded as to think the ONLY thing S&A is good for is melee (which is not as impressive as the MANY actual melee dps) then you are dead wrong. She can also be spec’d into a nice little bullet sponge for tanking. Bottom line is Miko CAN dps harder than most and S&A can DPS ranged JUST as hard as other characters. My advice is this…SPEAK to one another at hero select…SPEAK to one another during combat (dont just waypoint DING over and over). ANY time you want too meet up on PS4 and run some content we can compare your melee S&A with my ranged S&A and see who has the most damage and highest survival rate…
Yeah, absolutely not implicating that you condone this kind of thing, but really, what does it help if we just keep pointing out that “of course this stuff will happen, it’s an online game.”
My advice is this…SPEAK to one another at hero select…
Ain’t this the truth. It could definitely help if people mentioned in advance that they are going to pick a character that they will play in an unconventional way
amen brotha…
More hp regen is much, much better than a shield on Eldrid, I find. Kelvin with his regen Helix choice and 11.20 hp/sec from items? His hp count looks like he’s always standing next to a L2 health station.
Won’t keep you alive under steady fire, but will let you recover more quickly than you might think!
All we can do is be as good as we can, and avoid the unpleasant people.
Great post!
You know what? I will take you up on that offer of running together sometime, and maybe you can enlighten me on the many advantages of an all bangarangin’ S&A, because every single one I’ve ran with had been garbage, whereas most good ones have been in the enemy’s faces.
The biggest problem with multiplayer games is that there are always other people in them.
Why is that a bad thing?
It isn’t, necessarily. Amazing on Kelvin. Real nice on Alani after her health reduction.
Sounds good my friend. Add Parade_of_Death on psn whenever ya get a chance. I look forward too it
I’ll disagree with anyone who says dps miko is the wrong way to play him. Pardon my strawman here, but when someone says “you must play heal Miko, cause he’s listed as a healer.” He’s also listed under combat, he can be either. Or both even! I main dps Miko and I’ve gotten the most kills and least deaths on countless matches. Anyone who says Miko dps is wrong is just wrong themselves.
