Sniper or Melee assassin are we talking about here?

  • Always sniping and never getting hit? Maybe a more close-ranged approach with buffs on getting hit from a mania + hellborn psycho.
  • Tired of close-range ninja? How about a more medium to long ranged combat with a siren or commando?
  • Played too much focused on accuracy? Why not an anarchy-based mechro, because:

yes, more reaction gifs

I do like sniper rifles, even on Krieg I had them, namely sniders and muckamucks, because they’re a great way to cheese stuff from a safe distance whilst leveling and even just for fun sometimes. The gif was mainly for the memories the glorious volcano top-sniper thread the sniper krieg expression made me remember.

Looking through each character section, more specifically builds and top gear, may give you an idea of what you want to try.

I’ve run both as well as some hybrids. Typically run around with the bee/hawk leg killer combo though.

Done this multiple times on a few occasions so I’m well aware of how the different characters mechanics work just having a hard time figuring out what I’d enjoy lol.

I’m leaning more towards Maya or Krieg. Only I’m worried about not being able to solo raids on op8 with Maya.

There are OP8 raid builds in the Maya section - check the Master Build List post (should be accessible from the pinned community resources post). Not played at those exalted heights myself, so I can’t comment on viability.

I felt that way the first time I loaded the game into my PS3. I have to admit that after getting all 6 to 72 I don’t feel like any of that time was wasted. For me at this point, it wouldn’t be a question of which to start, it’d be what order to work through them in. There are so many ways to make paste of the hostiles on Pandora, why would you limit yourself?

Then I would recommend playing for a more tanky-built character. Both commando and siren have a lot of buffs to shield and health to enhance the more protective shields like the blockade or evolution/neogenator. The psycho on the other hand gives you damage resistance, health increase and health regen from elemental damage at the cost of shields down most of the time from typical hellborn-mania builds.

There are some really good builds on the forums for both defensive and offensive capabilities, on top of my head I can only remember the trickster build for the siren and the hellborn-mania melee-focused build wich I’m most biased towards.

For the raiding part though I don’t have much to say since I never really enjoyed doing it but I assume you could aim for some of the time-trials thread gear and respec accordingly.

Last I checked I had 17 characters :hushed:

My original six are the only ones to go from zero to OP8 ( OP6 in Axton’s case ). All but one ( my current TVHM Maya ) are clones with different builds from their parents : some mules, some have done a UVHM playthrough.

This is what accumulates after 2500 hours. I love them all.

That’s the thing though - my Jakobs Zer0 is a completely different character than melee Zer0 ; melee/Backdraft Maya from SS Maya. Each toon has half a dozen permutations that make them all distinct.

The point of this is that despite all the various approaches , the game is still the same - so just grab a Maya or Krieg and get started : they’re all fun.

What I’d say is that if you start too many characters together , you’ll forever be trapped in vanilla storyline - and this can get tiresome.

Shock Slow Hand + slag Sledge’s Shotgun = clearing BA round of Magic Slaughter :sunglasses: @DJLune44- Simply ignore the DPUH/GN and Pimp/Ahab combos and try literally anything else…

Ignoring everything but the original post so I can offer my input unfettered:

Maya.

If you were playing Sniper Zer0 in particular transitioning to Maya’s play style should be fairly smooth and fun.

I’m not a fan of melee in FPS so I can’t make any recommendations as far as going from Melee Zer0 to Krieg, as I play Krieg the same way I play Brick in BL1, explosive-heavy weapons combat with the Melee action skill only used to regen health.

I want to thank everyone for all your input I’ll probably end up playing every character now that I think about it lol. So I’ve decided on Krieg for this go around. I do like how chaotic most of his builds are. Actually I originally intended on playing all of them way back when I started…then I somehow got stuck on playing Zer0…which is weird considering any other rpg I’ve ever played for any significant amount of time I’ve always been OCD about maxing out every available character :joy:

I choose a Maya, than a Moxxi, a Lilith or a Tannis. But Athena with that head scarf on is coming close.

I’d say that playing Salvador in 72 or OP8 is somewhat a fruit of your labor considering how hard to level him up, i died many times with salvador compared to other vault hunters in normal and true, especially in the level 40 range in tvhm.

Southpaw steam and Bloodshot stronghold has a lot of action and a good test for the characters, I’d say save at least Roland before you decide which to proceed to OP8 with.

Did you play the pre sequel?
I never enjoyed it so much as BL2 but you clearly have to maximize at leat one charakter and play the masterpiece dlc

But I understand that BL2 is the true gem of course. Hope you enjoy your krieg playthrough. He is my second favourite after zero.
You should also try maya. I think i’ve never had a bad time with her

Fixed that for you.

This I did. Only Athena though. TPS gameplay doesn’t seem to flow quite as nicely. But it is fun nonetheless. I may go through with another toon at some point. Although BL 3 is looming in the horizon so I may not lol. I am enjoying Krieg so far. I’m thinking I’m gonna end up going with a full hellborn melee build and see how I fare. I like the idea of trying to keep the fotf shield blasting away all the time
Oh BTW that’s a good looking mainframe you’ve got there!!! :joy::joy::joy:
