New DLC & OP10 Balance?

So are you saying that you can’t adjust the OP levels anymore? If so I can see why some folks are upset…

You can adjust the reason they are upset is tht lvl 72 op8 is only level 80 gear with lvl cap. So all the perfect and near perfects are obsolete if they want op8 or op10 they have to refarm. So now they no longer have op8 gear that you can play on op1-10 anymore.

So the OP8 gear I’m using now is the ‘old’ OP8 and the new OP8 gear will have different stats? While I’m usually up for a challenge I don’t think I want to do the Peak all over again with everyone…

Yeah the op8 gear will become L80 gear as you reach level 80.

You only have to do OP 9 and 10 op0-8 is unlocked already if you did it just reach 80. New op gear farming is required though

I’m in agreement with you here insofar as that will likely be the shuffleboard game at my BL2 retirement community. I may do a little extra farming and attempt the new OP levels if I get bored, but it won’t be a case of “I feel I need to hit OP10 just to see everything in the game” the way it was with the original OP levels.

While I don’t have a multitude of OP8 characters like others do, we usually-playing-on-72 plebs are gonna have to take on some farming too. My poor Gaige (technically she’s OP4 but she has only 72 gear), her Twister and Fibber are going to be obsolete. And my Cat Maya with her collection of elemental Bitches… sigh. It took days and days of farming BNK3R for those.

But so it goes. I do boatloads of farming anyway. And I’ll like the extra skill points.

As far as OP10 goes, I think I’m just gonna take my OP8 Sal there, just to say I’ve done it. And do it the tired Grog/DPUH way. Basically just need to farm for a DPUH or three. My one other OP8 character, my first-ever toon (Maya), I’m probably just gonna level to 80 and leave her there. (Unless I change my mind in the coming months…)

But on a slight plus side, those two OP8 characters have some OP8 gear (including pearls) in their packs and safes that will now be usable by my other guys once they level up to 80.

Now that’s finding a silver lining in a dismal s*** storm. But yes, I’m totally here for that. That’s good thinking. (This also means I can farm pearls at OP8 on my PS3 and cross save them over to PS4, which is actually kind of helpful.)

I plan on beating the story line just to see it, but I won’t lie, the fact that they are keeping OP levels and adding 2 more to them, actually makes me want to play it less.

I took my Maya to OP8 and honestly hate how the scaling forces you to change, on top of how they made slag pretty well required on the last playthrough and the regen. Not planning on doing it again.

Would rather take my GOTY Lilith through the last of her content than go through OP levels again.

Setting your OP level is certainly up to you. In your case I do suggest playing it at a lower OP level and sticking with it. Or perhaps no OP level at all. At least then your melee will be scaled appropriately. Sometimes I don’t mind playing at OP 0 with just a shield from a higher OP level just for some comfort. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve thought about this a bit in a number of games over the years, and what I really want is Absurd Mode.

Check a preference, and any level cap goes away. You continue to gain experience, enemies continue to get harder, up to the maximum level of the computational engine in the game.

Don’t do any additional programming to attempt to balance this or adjust weapons or shields. just keep the standard level calculations in place. A level 99 sniper would not be tweaked to be an appropriate one, it just gets generated by the same calculation engine that generated it from 0-80.

Would be very wacky and, as it’s named. Absurd.

And quite fun.

Guys…this big, beautiful, well produced, FUN DLC was FREE!

Please…PLEASE…let being FREE sink in a bit…

And sure…you have to refarm gear. What time in the history of this game have you NOT had to refarm gear to get it up to the level you want.

And remember you will still get “credit” for having completed OP8 even though your existing equipment falls back to OP 0 level.

And with Torgue and Seraph vendors and easily refarmed bosses/areas…and with Uranus a piece of cake…

You can START OP 9 with pretty decent equipment that isn’t under leveled by 10 levels.

Plus don’t forget the SHIFT Golden Key program and signing up for the Borderlands VIP Rewards program which is an incredibly easy way to get decent leveled gear quickly. (I’m saving my Norfleet reward till I hit OP 10).

Now this assumes you have a ton of tokens but hey, if not, cash in some OP8 Golden Keys and get some gear you can work with, go to Pete’s Bar and start farming those easy Torgue tokens NOW for one of them ther’ fancy rocket guns…you know the ones…called DPUH or something.

Oh and one last thing…if we want to talk crappy “balance” let’s start a new thread entitled Destiny 2. I got a TON to talk about on that one lol.

I’m new to this forum so forgive my stupid question but can elaborate on how to get the Norfleet reward without having to farm for hours?

It’s pretty simple, just join the gearbox VIP program. All you do is watch some quick videos and visit a few sites that talk about borderlands three and you start building points. Tremendously easy. When you have 4000 points you can cash them in for a Norfleet.

I had 4000 points in just a few minutes. I’m now up to about 8000 even after spending four on the Norfleet.

The rewards level to the character that you first open after you cash the reward in so be careful about it.

There is also a slot machine like gift that you get just for joining. It randomly rolls a legendary and again it’s totally free.

I’m pretty confident that Borderlands 3 will avoid the pitfalls of end game issues that plague BL2. Presequel end game was way more balanced and it shows that they were trying to find better ways to do end game.

The fact we are getting Guardian mode or whatever it is called tells me that they are planning end game from the game’s launch, whereas with BL1/2 they really didn’t even consider it at all and just did whatever when DLC came around then later realized “oh this wasn’t a good idea”. But it was the only option they had since they never planned end game from the beginning.

I personally hated in all 3 games that they would release DLC and just up the level cap. I get why they would do it, to give people at end game more reason to play and level up, but at the same time it just leads to extremely broken scaling and creates a serious inconvenience as you have to re-farm for gear at the now higher level. BL2 at least made getting gear easier with each new DLC, but that doesn’t make it feel better. I spent a lot of time farming for a Baby Maker at level 50, for example, so when they up the level cap to 61 now I have to do it again. Then again at 72. Then again at 80. Then AGAIN at op10.

Hopefully Guardian mode will be the end game we always wanted from Borderlands. Something that gives reason to continue playing and doesn’t require a level cap increase with each DLC. With a billion guns in the game, I really REALLY don’t want to farm for the same gun 10 times because they failed to properly do end game.

What I would want from Borderlands end game.

xP should build and fill a bar even when you’re at level cap. Once filled it should give you a chest key or crate or something that is purple or better rarity (hopefully a legendary chance). We’ve seen this in Destiny 2 and Division 2. It gives you a reason to care about Xp after you hit a level cap.

And I want to be able to level up a gun or item. Like if I got a level 25 Norfleet, let me spend some kind of currency to bring it up to my current level so it isn’t obsolete.

And perhaps some kind of museum for my guns/items that I can show off to people or at least so I can archive a legendary item there and get it back later at my current level or as any version of it I’ve discovered. For example. Lets say I found a level 10 Maggie, a level 30 Maggie and a level 48 Maggie throughout the game. This museum would let me store all 3+ version of that I found/find and I could get it back and use it again or hand it off to my lower level character. And it wouldn’t really have any storage limits. It would be a better way to organize legendary or better items and retrieve them in a lovely way.

Custom class mod or relic? Some kind of class mod or relic tweaking thing that would let me fix or tweak or seek out certain class mods/relics.

That said, I don’t know if these ideas are even applicable to Borderlands 3. Depends on how much is different regarding level/item scaling, Xp, levels, etc…

What you need to do is increase your Badass Rank and get them tokens! Playing at 300% on all 14 categories makes OP10 much more enjoyable. Of course, when I want to cry, I’ll turn off the badass tokens and play at 0%.

I’ve played a lot and my best boosted stat is gun damage +30%

The game has been out for 7 years. If you used some of the Badass Rank glitches, then you could easily get up to 300%. There is a max limit, due to the game being 32-bit. So if anyone says they are over 546.3%, they have hacked their rankings.

The only thing I DON’T like about the proposed endgame is that they are calling it “Guardian Mode” which smacks ENTIRELY too much of Bungie and Destiny 2…

I hate that…call it something else…
Hero Mode or
Enhanced Mode or
Mayhem Mode or
Heck call it anything

Just NOT “Guardian Mode”…

Destiny 2 has left such a bad taste in my mouth recently…gotta get over that…LOL
