@CaptainHindsight Well played.
@Abvex ā I donāt think this option is still available. Weāll look into increasing width with the Discourse team though. (cc @joekgbx)
Looks like thereās an unhealthy amount of idealism behind discourse, considering the lack of ignore (because Democracy!), single-column front-grid they donāt even use (because phones?), markdown parsing and stripped style (because I have no idea), etc.
First: hory shet, I started a post, abandoned it, and came back to make an entirely different post in this topic, and the draft was still sitting there a day and a reboot later.
Second: is it possible to enable the thread hover previews (where mousing over the topic subject brings up like the first line or two in a pop up window)?
The only thing I see that is close is the tab at the bottom of the page. You can Watch, Track, or Mute the topic. Other than that I do not know.
Whatās to stop a clique of forum users from targeting specific people they donāt like and making all their valid posts invisible?
Congratulations. Youāve realized the inherent flaw in direct democracy.
Pure Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
We would just have to hope that the mods look at every flag to determine if it was a valid flag or an attack on a person.
This is where moderation comes in, Iād expect. There seems to be a decent number of mods, which means activity shouldnāt be a problem.
Mods see and can over ride flags. So if a group of people flag to attack someone that group will get timed out or banned and the flags lifted, at least thatās my best guess.
āEditā
Since a mod liked this, Iām think my best guess is pretty spot on
Currently looking into this one, @Adabiviak. I always liked this feature on vB too.
Any flag that isnāt recognized by the system as clearly being spam goes into an āapproval queueā and is seen by forum staff. If this sort of thing were to happen, it would be pretty clear so the affected posts would be unhidden and the members of the ācliqueā would receive suspensions.
Ah, sweet. Thatās good to know then.
*edit WTF Iām trying to edit my post and it keeps saying that itās too similar to what I postedā¦
Looks like whatever you did, it worked.
My original post just said āAh, sweet. Thatās good to knowā. I added another line but I realized I was wrong about something so I took it out. When I tried to finish the edit it gave me that strange message. Adding the *Edit was when it allowed me to submit my edit. o_O
Clicking replies, reading the replies, and then having those replies also in the main thread as they were posted is irritating, because then I have to read them twice.
Sounds like you hadnāt hit the character limit.
Being able to upload images inside a thread, instead hosting them somewhere else is awesome!
New Forum Basics link in FAQs isnāt working. Is it just me or is the webpage unavailable for others as well?
I think Iām going to like this new format once I get my bearings.
Itās not just you, @dp_DBD. The link is reverting to our old testing URL. Iām working on fixing those today actually.
