I think it would be awesome to add a character or 2 from the Borderlands series to Battleborn. Thoughts?

Itā€™s a nice idea, but I think Gearbox wants Battleborn to be an independent game.

I think we all should let Battleborn be itā€™s own thing. We gotta pass that mentality of getting Battleborn and Borderlands together. That way we could let Gearbox get the air she needs in order to be more innovative and creative with Battleborn.

if they introduce borderlands characters, somebody will ask for bioshock characters and son itā€™d become a party game with guest characters. i say nope.

Iā€™m guessing there will be some sort of BL Easter egg thrown in somewhere. If they did throw in a BL toon it should be someone obscure, not one of the playable characters

I would love to play Krieg in battleborn lol. Although I seriously doubt we will get Borderlands characters in the game, I could see them selling borderlands cosplay outfits for certain characters.

Hereā€™s my idea:

A video game character that is being played by Tiny Tina. That is not Tiny Tina herself, but an obviously video game-y character, with skills like ā€˜Strong Attackā€™, ā€˜Escapeā€™, and ā€˜Ultimate Comboā€™ and helix choices like ā€˜Cheat Codeā€™ and ā€˜Blow out the Cartridgeā€™.

It could be a bit retro looking, or just weird and Battleborn-y while being more obviously video game-y, but itā€™d be VOā€™d by Tina Tiny talking smack over the mic. Sometimes instead of smack talk it could be off mic chatter, like her responding to something one of the other BL or Tea Party characters says, and sometimes suddenly mutes or trails off. =)

Oh, and a running gag with this character would be none of the Battleborn characters ever hear the character say anything, riffing on the whole Silent Protagonist trope. Hee hee.

Isnā€™t Galilea Athena with a different back story? I found they even played similarly. ā€¦which is probably why she was one of my favorites. Melee Athena was great fun in BPS.

I think the best weā€™ll get is references in the form of skins. Maybe an easter egg or two, but not much more than that. Battleborn should be its own game and it wouldnā€™t make a lot of sense for Borderlands characters to show up anywhere. We might get a broken psycho mask somewhere or a vault symbol and Iā€™ve got a theory that the Varelsi are originally from a vault. However, it seems highly unlikely that the two stories will connect and they shouldnā€™t in my opinion. Battleborn has a lovable cast and a decent story which doesnā€™t need to be a part of a larger universe like so many other things these days.

I think it would make a lot more sense to have an Oscar Mike clone in the next BL than to have a BL character introduced here.

I always think of Battleborn as like MAYBE a shared universe, but like many 1000s of years into the future, so I dunno how much sense it would make unless it was some kind of old salvaged tech, like an AI or robot. They probably wouldnā€™t force us to deal w/ Claptrap in a whole other IP, so I donā€™t see it happening except maybe some homage skins.

Maya gets a Thorn look
El Salvador gets El Dragon look
Zer0 gets a Miko look
Kreig gets a Whiskey Foxtrot look
Gaige gets a Shayne look

Athena gets a Galilea look
Wilhelm gets a Rath look
Nisha gets a Reyna look
CLAPTRAP gets a Marquis look
Handsome Jack gets Ghalt look
Aurelia gets a Mellka look

I could see this going the other way around so Battleborn characters get Borderlands skins, but I kinda feel BL2 and BLPS are a bit too ā€œoldā€ now to receive more stuff like that. I dig the idea and would personally have a load of fun with it, but only die-hards would really care that much so there isnā€™t much of a call/market for it.

Problem is what gearbox wants for battleborn is pretty obviously not working. If they want this game to survive they need to start pandering pretty darn hard.
