Nope. I won’t take it, because there’s no evidence of it, just words of PVPers who, for some reason, claimed the game is their territory.

You don’t have to, but look at the fixes. They’re mainly pointed at the PVP aspects. They push out new characters, and show them off in PVP. They don’t nerf characters who wreck in PVE, no they nerf them for PVP. They hold comps for PVP. If you can’t see that, then it’s on you. I’m sorry but it’s true. The evidence is in every single battleplan.

Because PVE can handle much more disbalance than PVP. If they drop fixing heroes for PVP the game would die much faster, so they have to do it whatever the case - it’s not about their preferences of what mode is main and what is side.

You can’t take those slight details and conclude this game is for PVP and therefore people shouldn’t ask for a proper PVE experience. This can be said only if GBX officially stated this game is PVP-oriented and PVE is a secondary mode, but they never did and most likely will not.

Ah, and it’s especially senseless to talk about a “side” nature of a PVE mode when we’re talking about a content that we already paid for.

Now, not once did I even imply that no one should talk about the PVE experience. I’m just stating that this game mainly caters to a more PVE element then a PVP one. I didn’t take SLIGHT details just about updates and patches, I also mentioned about what they show off, which is PVP, but I digress and will leave this point with “We see what we want to see”.

Yes. As a SEASON PASS. I don’t recall too many games that dropped a chunk of their season pass within the first months of the game being out. Even with “triple A”, “full priced” games. Take Bioshock Infinite for example, it took 8 months for the first real part of their DLC to drop (the hoard mode was fun but it added nothing to the game really) and a full YEAR after the game had been released before they dropped the last of their DLC from the SEASON PASS. It takes time. The season pass is nothing more than you pre-ordering the DLC. It doesn’t mean you’re getting the DLC the moment you paid for it, it means you’ll get it when it’s ready. I hope you don’t put money down on a pre-order at gamestop, and barge in 3 months later demanding the game, even though it’s not out yet.

To complete all the levels on advanced it took me roughly 10 hours game time. That is 5 hours longer than what it took me to complete any CoD or battlefield campaign on advanced. Number of missions is irrelevant if you are still getting more play time out of them than ‘industry standard’.

I need to make this a form letter or something because I seem to have to explain this every time some PvPer gets it in their mind to interpret hot-fix balance changes as evidence that PvE is just a side dish.

Just gonna toss out this post.

It explains everything that I’m too lazy to type out for the umpteenth time about how, no, the game is not all about PvP.

Idk if this was blatantly said, but I thought the whole point of Battleborn was their try at PVP. Otherwise, why not make more Borderlands. In the end, they wanted PVE in a game the poured their heart and soul into, and realized it would be a unique experience, but I do think that this game could just exist as a PVP game, but would not function enough for a full game with just PVE. And I split my time evenly between the two, I’m not particularly biased.

While I’m with you on that, careful how you word your posts, yeah? I’d hate to see someone get suspended over this.

I disagree. The PVE is better. Also it’s funny you say that considering you currently have to wait like 10-30 minutes to que for a PVP match, while ques for PVE missions happen in less then a minute.

I’ve never played those games, but the point is 8 levels isn’t enough for a 60-dollar game, especially one that requires a paid subscription (the game itself doesn’t, but you have to pay for PSN in order to play it, so the result is the same). A game where you have to pay on a constant basis should have more content then 8 levels.

Here is something to consider: Not everyone who plays battleborn has played Borderlands (I haven’t). How it compares to that isn’t the issue. The point is that that is made for both PVE and PVP and I would argue the PVE is better. As such, they should put just as much effort (if not more so) into that.

If this was just pvp, I wouldn’t play it. Not based on what they have now.

I did two matches last night in PVP and it took less than 2 mins per match to start up, (on PS4) and this was at 2am EST, but when I tried to get into the spotlight PVE it took the full amount of time it waits for that to find me 1 other person, three different times.

Also not once did I say that the PVP was better? Why do I keep getting misinterpreted here? All I’ve been saying is that this game is more PVP focused than PVE. Not saying one is better than the other, not saying the game should be full PVE or full PVP. Just saying based on how they are treating the game, the reception it’s received, and the amount of commitment GBX has put into it, is all PVP focused. Do you think they’dtalk about E-Sports and competitive play if all they cared about was PVE?

This is only relevant for console players. PC players don’t have to pay a monthly basis to play it. Just because Microsoft and Sony charge to play online doesn’t mean that game developers get to add that cost into the making of their game. They don’t score a scrap from your payment of XBox Live, or PSN+.

Either way this has gotten WAY off topic now, so I’m going to leave it at this, and let the others stay on topic.

Sorry for people in denial, but this game is MAINLY pvp oriented in balance and how they made it, pve has stuff too, but mainly it is pvp

You get gear from PVE

You get significantly more experience points from PVE

Most of the lore challenges are oriented around PVE

All the storyline aspects revolve around PVE levels

When the game was first released, it had more PVE levels then PVP levels

Yep, that totally seems like a game where PVP is the primary focus, doesn’t it

Let’s see credits to get gear, most balance stuff is focused on PVP, they showcase characters in pvp, pendles is said to be mainly focused in pvp, they would not make a character that is made to be much better in pvp if the focus is pvp, story gear literally rewards you for pvp, there is story for pvp actually, and most the lore challenges can be done in both, the only that can exclusively be done are ones like kill x amount of times, something you can only do in pvp

I’m not arguing that it’s not great with PVE, or that it wasn’t made with both in mind. I am saying that if they hadn’t wanted to make a PVP game, this wouldn’t exist. That was their primary motivation.

Citation needed.

Look I’m not going to make any claims as to what Gearbox’s motivation was. All I know is 3 months with only 8 levels is 3 months too long. Whatever they intended, they have now a game where PVE is a major aspect of it. It’s time for it to get the update it deserves. I bet that more then anything else would be the biggest way stop bleeding off players.

Pendles is excellent in PVE as well. In fact, you could argue he’s even better in PVE, since he can take on the role of “Stealth Reviver”. You can lead a lousy team to victory with him by just staying in cloak and reviving everyone when they die.

PVP matches are just simple fights for the sake of winning. There is no story to go along with them. Most of the best gear (legendaries) is mainly good for PVE, because in pvp it takes too long to build up enough shards to activate them. In PVP you are better off bringing cheap junk you can activate quickly so you can spend your shards on things like Turrets or Giant minions.

There are Lore challenges that would take an eternity to do in PVP that were clearly made with PVE in mind.

Capture, you are taking energy transceivers, incursion you are taking over, meltdown explains itself, pve is not THE aspect, it is a big one maybe, the fact of how pendles works in pve proves they have pvp as the main aspect since they, in a pve game, would not make a character that flawed in design

Well, that’s actually not that long for such complicated DLC. They have to balance it, make multiple areas, storylines, characters, they’re going all out. Many season passes take much longer to deliver. And they said it to be out soon. I me expecting it to release right after PAX.

Stating the objective of PVP levels doesn’t have anything to do with my point. Having objectives is not the same thing as having a plot.

Being good at an assigned role isn’t a flaw.
