NAT is a setting that helps find games. If you have a closed NAT setting it will make it hard to find games and even play with friends online. An Open NAT setting is what you want to have with games that play online.

A NAT setting is in simple terms is how your system sends info to servers and things. If it’s not open and is set to strict data has a hard time transferring and can cause things like lag, hard time connecting, and an inability to use services like party chat and game chat. The setting isn’t static either and changes constantly. To figure it out do a network test on your ps4 and it should display. If it is strict you will need to do additional steps to fix it.
Do you have any issues with story mode too or just PvP and does time of day significantly affect your times?

I agree on three people though it helps it make it more fun and allows good combos.

Boy don’t you love all this vital information that the playstation doesn’t provide to it’s customers? So how do you check and change settings?

No it’s just waiting for PVP matches to build up. I can usually get a team of a at least 3 for a PVE run in less than a minute. For PVP it takes at least 10, though it wasn’t always the case. Back when I first got the game, they were starting fast. I always though it was because the game has lost a lot of players.

I’m on the Xbox which shows you if you have a open or strict Nat setting. Can you check your network connection on the PS? Also are you using wifi or a direct connection with an Ethernet cord from the router to your PS? A bit more information and I might be able to help you out. No guarantee tho. But I am willing to try

It does. I have a ps4 too. Here’s the official steps. Google is your best friend and it’s easy to use.

I having a great time. 8 Levels is enough to keep me interested, especially when you include the PvP stuff (which i suck at)

We have like enemy factions that relate to the battelborn faction (jennerit = thral, LLC = minions, golems/swarm = eldrid) But none that have their roots in the rogues and peacekeepers.

So I was thinking of a rebel faction of oscar mike clones as a range of enemy types, also with some misformed clones like whisky foxtrot.

This would also give some hidden enemy type in PvE, so that REVEAL skills/abilities have some use in PvE

Avoiding the argument over whether this game is designed mainly for PvP or PvE entirely and commenting on the time things take and whether 3 months is too long to wait.

Making video games is hard. We’re talking hundreds of people, thousands of man-hours, millions of dollars. If you think getting several million lines of code to all play nicely together is simple then I’m afraid you’re just wrong

As for making a new level for PvE, it would not surprise me to find out that this would take upwards of 6 months from start to finish. From initial ideas, to concept art, to whiteboxing, to prettying, then adding in the scripted elements (dialogue, enemies spawning, doors opening when they should etc.), testing, bug fixing, design changes, implementing design changes, more testing and bug fixing, a few more tweaks here and there, more testing and bug fixing, going through certification (for X1 and PS4), potentially more bug fixing off the back of that. I just realised that I’ve failed to mention audio and balancing!

Making a level it not just one person placing some rocks and trees and hitting the “go” button, it is a MASSIVE team effort involving dozens of people for a single level. And get this, not everyone can work on that level at the same time! Of course, there are ways to help mitigate this. A level will usually be split into numerous “sub-levels”; there will be some for artists, several for scripters, audio levels, a few for lighting etc. often totalling well over a dozen. Then these all have to come together and play nicely too.

I’m still over simplifying this massively, and you’re more than welcome to feel that things are taking too long. I just hope I’ve been able to shed a little light on why things can take so long.

Apologies to the audio devs for not giving you enough love in the post!

Yeah I know making levels isn’t easy. It sounds like a good reason not to release a game with such a woefully insufficient number of levels in the first place. But since that has already happened, there is nothing that can be done except to focus all efforts on rectifying that error.

How about we factor in another couple of things I missed out? Time and money. Both of these are finite resources. The people holding the purse strings are going to want something to show for their investment at a certain date. Sooner or later the NEED to hit a certain date becomes more of a factor than the WANT to get everything the creative minds envisioned for their baby.

The net result is a studio will have to release a product with a “woefully insufficient number of levels” finished to production standard in the hope that meeting that deadline will give them a chance the funding the continue, allowing for more content to be created at all.

Game development schedules are crushing, especially in the months leading up to release. I can almost guarantee that if time and money were infinite, you would have more PvE at launch, along with another dozen Battleborn and PvP maps. But this would be in 12 months time when the game eventually came out. We should all be happy that we got anything at all, and that the game launched on time, which means we will be in with a good chance to getting a Borderlands 3!

UPR = renegade Mikes. Rogues = space pirates.

At least I sure hope so.

Just announced on their blog the first DLC Story Mission will come out Oct. 13, 2016 - Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion.

It’s interesting the new level is going to be based around Attikus, as he’s kind of a minor character. I hardly ever see anyone playing him.

True. I wondered if it was because he seems underplayed and they’re trying to get more people to consider him.

The second DLC is “Toby’s Friendship Raid,” so there’s some focus coming on Toby too (who is much more popular than Attikus).

Of course we already have a level for Boulder, and I hardly see anyone playing him either.

Indeed, Toby is one of the few characters I’ve beaten every level with on normal and advanced, including Heliophage. He’s a good character, though I don’t like a lot of his in-game dialogue.

Nice! Any new story missions about different characters would be interesting. We’ve already got caldarius, melka, deande, boldur, isac, featured in some missons. Id like to see some about whiskey foxtrot, Alani, Phoebe or orendi.

As long as there’s more Nova in the missions…
