Edit: Sorry, post hasn’t been approved on the Borderlands subreddit, I assume because I posted it from a throwaway account. Messaged the mods, hopefully it’ll be up in a little while.

Gist of the fix is using CE to edit your Guardian Rank back down to an acceptable level. Posted the links to the CE Github and the respective post where you can grab the .CT file that lets you edit Guardian Rank. I edited mine down to 100 from 997 (no idea how it got so high when it was only 300 before) and I’ve been playing the last few hours without any freezes.

They told me the same thing when i told them about the reverifying bug i have to go thru everytime i play.
2K support is laughable alright. Makes me think they don’t know what the heck there talking about or no clue how to do Pc support. Whichever comes first.

Just used the CE method - screw’em.

But it wasn’t the guardian level I dropped from 1,016 to 100. This didn’t resolve the issue. It was the XP.

This was my total XP : 2146024641

I removed the 2 from the front, and I have no issues now.

Fixed the issue without any sort of cheating. Simply go to:

  • C:\Users\ (your user name) \Documents\My Games\Borderlands
  • 3\Saved\SaveGames…

And eitheir delete these folders or create a new folder to move the files just in case. You should be deleting/moving the files called “profile” & “quick” and the folder with the number is your order of the characters you created respectively. So my first char was amara so its going to be “1”.

So the only file you should keep is your characther which should be a number based on if it was your first, second or third creation. It will give you a number based on that respectively. So essencialy, you start with 0 guardian rank but you’ll lose everything outside the character except progression. You’ll lose stuff like skins, stuff in the vault…

This ended up being my temp fix for the issue. Instead of deleting the characters all together with their progress and inventory, this gets rid of the progression in the Guardian Rank. What I did instead of just deleting the profile.sav and the quick.sav is placed them into a new folder so when Gearbox fixes their micropatch, I can then bring them back and overwrite these temp new ones the game created.

I am not good with the Cheat Engine way. I do not know how to run that thing nor do I want to run anything that would edit code so I would not suggest using the fix. But, to each is their own. If that ends up being a way for us to enjoy it, a game some of us has spent over $100 on (in my case I bought 2 copies of the $100 versions).

Note to GearBox Devs: Having no action done by your team for a weekend is unacceptable. You will, for this, be placed there in the same category as other Triple A game developers that have failed their player base. You have to have back-up plans and on call people to resolve these issues. That is just good business ethics, not lack of team. This game has not even been out for a month and you broke it and didn’t look back. Do not become an EA Bioware Anthem story.

There’s nothing they can do for you. The support staff here don’t have the priveleges of changing values ingame for example. That at least is what has been told to me by them.

There is something call recall or roll back. This was a micropatch. Patches can be rolled back. I work on servers for a living.
