New player here!

I just picked this game up for the holiday sale and I’m having a blast! How did I not play this game earlier. Thanks for the fun!

Resist any temptation to short cut your way to more powerful weapons and the fun will last much longer. That is to say, just play with what you encounter as you go…

cmthomas45 is right. For just running through the base game you can use basically any gear and keep any gear that you do like for quite a while cause of how little the damage increases until level 50, the original level cap.

I remember finding a cryo Lucian’s Call at around level 13 and using it until I was around level 28 or so.

That and a purple Torgue sticky pistol were my bread and butter.

You don’t really have to worry about gear unless you plan on playing above mayhem level 4.

When you get to the Droughts (though you’re likely past there already), Marcus will offer a mission to power up one of his vending machines, where you have to get a shock skag spine. Absolutely do the side mission to use a human spine; this will expose a red chest that would otherwise be locked away, preventing you from fully completing the map until/unless you did a mission reset (plus it’s always there when you re-visit the Droughts).

It depends, after you first finished the story, it may be a good idea to find a shorter route to level up to level 72 so the farming of gear can begin. (unless you are IB moze, where gear matters slightly less, so you may not need to refarm weapons every few levels)

He’s a “new” player. For that, short cutting to a plasma coil for instance, would mean he would beat everything without challenge and kill the fun. But you already know this I assume.

Welcome to the most addiktacatin ’ bada$$e amundoin’ schlooter uppin place in the universe!
The folks in this community are full of help. I should know as they always seem to be helping me!
If you’re starting out in BL3, might I suggest you hold back and head back into the beginning times of the Borderlands saga. For sorting sake, it chronologically starts with Borderlands the Pre Sequel. Get to know Jack, because without the Jackhole this place doesn’t make much sense. Then on to BL one. Or the game of the year. Wade through all the baddie bodies until you open your first vault! Next on to BL2 and all the DLC’s including Commander Lilith which will set you up for BL3. Most of these games are on sale somewhere pretty cheap.
I personally like the artwork and sometimes just enjoy the scenery after a good days kill.
Either way have fun.
