New purple icon

Doesn’t really matter since it vanished it hasn’t come back.

Haven’t completed dlc yet but the lodge seems to be a safe haven from the madness infecting the towns people. The fact it only seems to go down in combat map areas seems to suggest its a ward of some kind, does something/can something happen to you if it goes away?

Mines been gone for some time and no difference that I can tell.

So is it gone for good?

I still have mine. Keeps resetting when switching maps.

I can see what the person said about it looking like Wotan. @Noelle_GBX, any clues about all this?

Genuinely wandering if gearbox is just trolling us with this, and it does nothing except give them something to laugh about.

“Hey, Jenny, Jenny, can you add a spider-thingy on the bottom of the screen. No, no not under the XP bar, just off to the side a little.”
“Like this? In a little hexagon?”
“Awesome. Now, stick a long countdown on it, and make it vanish for good if it reaches the bottom. Reset it occasionally, for random stuff.”
“Sure. And what do you want me to make it do?”
“Nothing. It’s perfect as is.”
“Wait. Randy, you want me to stick an icon in a weird spot, for no reason? And have it countdown and vanish?”
“Exactly.”
“Won’t that drive people mad?”
“Hopefully. It’s a lovecraft DLC, so it’s fine.”
“Oh, OK. Where are you going?”
“I’m gonna watch the forums and see how long it takes them to figure out that it’s pointless. I bet most of them still don’t believe it even after its been pointed out.” cackles

But, nah, it probably has something to do with the secret raid boss. Definitely.

The icon appears on my characters that haven’t started the dlc, is there anyone who haven’t bought it who also see it?

I have no idea what it is either, but did you check out the red flavour text on the shotgun Wainwright gives you to ‘look after’?

There’s a couple other interesting epic rarity items that appeared in my backpack I need to check out.

I thought it was just social commentary, especially since it says no joke. If it actually does something that kind of lessens the joke.

Other weird things. I haven’t started the dlc and also have the icon. But I got a couple of things in my mailbox from gearbox. A short stick smg and a vapor hoodlum trinket.

Interesting. I didn’t think to check my Social. It’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

Haven’t bought it, haven’t fully installed the 6 GB patch on Xbox One ("ready to play"came up on it and I played), still seeing the icon.

I still have the icon but my guardian perks are disabled. Are yours?

Just started playing noticed this immediately. Leveled up guardian rank. When I went to spend the point my screen says all guardian stats and perks are currently disabled.
Edit: I’m saying I think they’re related.

Ok. So I have a theory, and I’m totally going to science the ■■■■ out of it. My theory is that the icon is here to teach/remind us about social isolation relating to COVID-19. All of our characters received this pink/purple virus after the most recent update. The icon is a bacteriophage though, which is a very remarkable looking virus that infects bacteria, but it is a virus nonetheless. I think they chose to use a Bacteriophage here simply because more people would recognize the spider-like appearance of the bacteriophage. So…Considering the virus icon slowly goes away if you stay in one map (about 90 minutes - I didn’t stopwatch it though…) it represents staying home and recovering from the virus. If however, you travel and switch maps, the icon resets itself representing re-infection, or at least the risk for infection if you travel. So, stay in one place for a short period of time and we will all recover from the in-game virus and COVID-19.

This theory was published Friday March 27th, 1am.

I was thinking the same thing, bit why? Why would they out this in the game without some buff when it goes away or debuff while it’s on you. Otherwise it’s just teaching people that Coronavirus doesn’t affect you in anyway whether you have it or not

My only guess for not including a beneficial buff would be that it’s because viruses aren’t beneficial. I think the idea here was more about social isolation education. Stay in one place and you will recover.

I don’t really want to say that I noticed I was taking more damage off Maliwan troops during Slaughterstar 3000 as the buff was depleting but I think I was. But I’m virus free now so I can’t run the tests anymore.

Stay safe

Have any of you been to sanctuary yet as part of the new downloadable content? Is it apart of the guns, love and tentacles?

Noticed this yesterday, I installed the patch without the GL&T dlc & powerleveled at Claptrap Prime while the dlc was downloading, this icon was there before the dlc was installed & so I wondered if it was something to do with one of the new guardian perks, that was until I noticed that I don’t have enough ranks to unlock them yet.

After I installed GL&T the icon was still there, it remains if I fast travel to any of the other maps, including Sanctuary, yet always refills, does anyone who has completed the dlc still have it?

My thoughts on what it might be though, are maybe just a bug? As some have it & others don’t, maybe it’s to be introduced in later content, but shows for some now as it as in the patch code?

I’m not sure what it is exactly, but its driving me nuts, I absolutely have to know
