I haven’t heard the consumers blast it to pieces (outside of the surface problems), but I guess I’m not actively searching for their feedback. Just going off friends that actually played it. And I definitely don’t need “industry professionals” to tell me what makes a good game when I know myself.

They don’t crow about it because there are plenty other things to play. The same way Destiny is presumably better after fixes, but people like me gave up on it extremely early.

This big update better be worth all this frustration in the end.

The next time you find yourself in those discussions, may I suggest pointing to this specific thread and saying, “This is why we need to communicate more effectively through our official forums”?

And I am very much reminded of the movie “Cool Hand Luke” for some obscure reason!

Damn that’s harsh. I can’t blame you though.

Well, I’m glad that I converted to the PS4 playerbase. This just reaffirmed my decision that I made 2 weeks ago from switching from PC to the PS4 BB playerbase. I expect Battleborn on PC is going to be dead now for a few weeks until the next update drops.

Hopefully that will bring back more players and me as well to the PC community. The update is taking too long, with not enough feedback to the community in my opinion. I don’t expect everyone to stick around, but I will still be primarily playing on the PS4 for now.

WHOAH, easy there killer.

I know this whole thing turned me into a white girl earlier, and I had to go get my Starbucks foofoo on. But SEAN MURRAY? Bruh. BRUH. That’s some severe stuff right there…

Unless this update comes with a complimentary Psychologist, I doubt it’ll be worth the stress and frustration.

I could be wrong. It could be everything we’ve ever dreamed of and more.

I believe the PS4 has the largest playerbase atm, that’s why me and my PC friends have started playing on the PS4, to find a match at any given time no longer than 5 minutes atm. It’s night and day difference from PC.

So, three things:

First - dates and communication of updates (as well as Battleplans) are handled by groups outside of the development team. While I don’t always agree with or like the strategies of those teams, I (and other devs) have to work within the plans they set. Some of it is out of respect for our our co-workers, and some of it is because I like my job. So, that’s part of why I’ve been more quiet recently.

Second - as you might guess, we’re a smaller team than we were a year ago when we shipped Battleborn. Everyone on our dev team has to wear many more hats now, so major update work impacts the amount of weekly changes we can responsibly create, test and add to the game. So, as I mentioned over a month ago, we made a decision to focus more on the updates and less on weekly micro-patches. The update has taken longer than we wanted, which has made waiting understandably very difficult.

Third - I believe we micro-patched too frequently last year, and early this year. We’ve tried several different models of pacing for tuning changes, and ran them weekly for a while. I believe that was detrimental to our ability to get changes to the community, monitor data and feedback, and then plan updates. While it’s been convenient for us to focus on other update work for the last couple of months, I don’t believe we will return to a weekly cadence of changes, as it seems to be less effective for gauging the effectiveness of changes.

All that said, we are considering a few things to micro-patch before the update lands. We are evaluating a list of issues this week, and hope to have a few changes next week.

I’ll elaborate a bit on Supercharge.

It’s a 3v3 mode, which will require that it is in it’s own, unique queue. Part of our reason to delay it is to time it with an update where we could feel better about activating an additional persistent or semi-persistent queue.

Thanks. Believe me, I’m frustrated too.

I’m glad you’ve used the word perspective because it makes it clear that it is yours (and others’) subjective view. Because in actuality y’all are wrong. The update is essential to fixing bugs and addressing balance. The micro patches they used to publish regularly were tweaking numerical values of skills and gear. But now we’ve reached the point where tweaks just aren’t going to get the job done. You can’t rework the kits of the characters they listed simply by tweaking values. Major changes need to be made. And that’s just character balancing. Once you start talking about bugs and map and performance optimizations you are clearly in the domain where a major patch is required. Hence, the forthcoming update. So again, the update is NOT a hindrance but absolutely essential to addressing the core issues that so desperately need attention.

As a patch, yeah, that’s needed. Our understanding for some long time now has been, that the big update/announcement forthcoming is about NEW CONTENT or a change in how it is delivered, or perhaps both. As for needing a PATCH instead of a HOTFIX, that’s not the argument.

The TL;DR? Fix bugs first, THEN deal with another content update. That the work on what’s supposedly a CONTENT update has delayed BUGFIX patches, is simply unacceptable.
