Noob questions about TVHM and UVHM

I feel you’ve justified the purchase in your statement. Your son is taking it with him. That is reason enough, imo.

I needed mobility with the kiddo’s taking over the living room. I can game in my room, or at the dining room table(where I typically game). the cost of a new console vs a laptop or desktop pc is much lower. I was forced to go PC due to my new living arrangement. so I had to find a cheap solution. mine was on sale for $699 at BestBuy when I purchased it. I think it’s not $799 but it works beautifully for my borderlands activities. Steam is free tho. So, you won’t have to keep up a subscription with annual fee(s).

side note: I’d love to see you go PC @Sun_Tsunami how cool would that be to run the Peak together. :sunglasses:
I know I’m not alone… @Jefe

I got the Lyuda(and Veruc) from Gettle and Mobley after “The Good, The Bad and The Mordecai” , which I have done with both Zer0 and Sal. It only takes a couple minutes to farm.
Only my Sal has done The Clan War, and if I understand correctly, the level of the Slagga isn’t all that important? If that’s the case I’ll farm it with Sal as to not level up my Zer0.

Sadly I’ve tried to no avail.

I wish I had a PC to run this on, I’ve always been more of a PC guy, but this I’m playing on PS4. That was in my budget at the time of purchase. There may be a PC in my near future tho.

Advice for your first UVHM excursion:
A setback is only a reason to learn. This forum is the best source of info, and if you can’t find the answer on your own ask. Best community anywhere, it’s how I made it to 72 and beyond 6 times.

Advice for keeping the Mrs happy:
I only play when she’s not home or busy doing something else. And she’s still probably not happy with the amount of time I spend on these games. She definitely wasn’t as excited as I was about any of my BL milestones.

RE: your PS4’s refugee status come September-
Go PC. It worked for @Kurtdawg13, @Jefe accepts all console defectors, and given enough time I’ll see you over there too. We all need that support group. :grinning:

Why am I not surprised…! Maybe because mine wasn’t either. :disappointed_relieved:
Only way I see is to have her play the game. borderlands (1,2,tps) is best enjoyed with friends in coop. good luck with that.

No oh no! I need him! Ok. I still didn’t had nearly enough time to be ready to play at that kind of level but… PS need him. Give me a couple months and we’ll share. :stuck_out_tongue:

lol, My wife and I have an understanding, I would not meddle with her irritating habits especially watching Korean Dramas all day, and she would not stand in the way of me gaming late at night. :+1::+1::ok_hand::ok_hand:

Actually I would feel extremely bad if Sun defected - he’s kind of the heart of the PS4 community here.

I’d get over it eventually :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is my build, actually found this online somewhere:
http://bl2skills.com/assassin.html#505051010050555105110000000000

I’m open to any suggestions.

I started UVHM tonight, didn’t have alot of time to play. I did farm a couple guns before hand. Got a couple Lyudas, a Veruc and a Hammer Buster.
Turns out my other Sal character had a Slagga, but it’s only level 16. It didn’t seem real effective at long distances. Would a higher level Slagga work better? (I can only assume it would). Is it worth it to do the Clan Wars mission so I could get a better Slagga? I also have a sniper rifle with slag, so I use that for long distances.

The Death Mark and Kunai…where huge. I dropped Boom by hitting him with Slagga, then Death Mark and Kunai, then putting a bullet in his head. If I can hone those skills then the game will be much more playable.

Hard to comment without knowing which COM ( so jealous of the TPS version that lets you attach the COM ) - but…

  • Kill Confirmed - only spec it if boosted by a COM. And only if you’re using snipers or extremely powerful and accurate one-shot shotguns (which more or less means Docs Coach Gun or ROM).
  • Fearless has only one use : to go with a Love Thumper. Otherwise extremely useless ( if your shield is down you should be taking defensive, not offensive, action ).
  • Two Fang I assume is boosted by COM? Really needs to be 5/5+ to be worth it.
  • Unforseen : I’m a broken record with this. It’s extremely powerful at 5/5 (and crazy with a shock Bone once you can get one). Throw your decoy into the middle of the fray, slag grenade, kunai, shotgun for Bore and the Unforseen blast. Try that on the hordes during You Are Cordially Invited :facepunch:
  • Once you get enough points, Followthrough is one of his best skills and Grim and Killing Blow is a great way to get there. Add Execute as a gap closer - extremely useful for gun Zer0 (essential for melee).

No - it’s not a great long distance slagger, so not really. If you’re really desperate you could run half of the Scarlett DLC ( in TVHM ) to get a slag Pimpernel. Otherwise you should keep your eyes open for a longbow or lobbed slag transfusion - extremely good for slag. Bouncing Bettys can work too, but transfusions are the best.

:+1: - Mailwan snipers are particularly good for this.

:+1: to everything @Jefe said. I would take the leftover points and put them into the right tree. Killing Blow --> Grim --> Execute --> Followthrough. What com are you using? At 50 I was still using Survivor coms that buffed Rising Shot (Disturbed, IIRC). In the 50’s I spent a lot of time on the loot train until I got my First Legendary Hunter com, at which point I respecced to take advantage of the skill boosts.

Re:Slagga- the Slagga is a great close up slagger, great for bunches of mob types. In that situation, with B0re in the mix, it will also kill pretty reliably. At distances greater than that stick with your sniper. I think Sniders have the best chance, but I’ve been known to use a Rakehell when my Snider is getting long in the tooth.

Ok, I"m gonna admit, I had no idea what a “COM” was when I first read this. But through deductive reasoning and mostly Google I figured it out. I’m using a survivor COM.

All of this is duly noted. As I said, currently using a survivor COM, but I have a couple more in my backpack, I’ll see what else I have next time I play.
One question though, Don’t I need Two Fang to get to Death Blossom? Death Blossom gives the Kunai right? I’ll re-spec for sure, but I don’t want to lose Kunai.

While I’ve read alot about the Pimpernel, and I’m excited to get one, I’m gonna hold off. If things get unbearable I might go for one.

This solution would be optimal. Unfortunately, I’ve rarely come upon slagged grenades. I’m guessing they are somewhat rare in the game?

I’m pretty certain mine is a Maliwan. I think I also have a slag pistol. I know while I was farming I kept an eye out for slagged weapons.

I’m using a Survivor COM, so I’ll look into this as well.

Unfortunately I haven’t done the loot train mission with this character only my Sal and it’s capped at level 25. Dumb noob mistake, but at the time it seemed awesome.

Like I said, I’m gonna hold off doing DLC for now unless I get desperate. But with the intel you guys are providing I’m feeling pretting good about moving forward.

Just this much that you’ve provided has given a huge insight to how this game works.

I’m going to try to play a bit tonight, but I have some real world responsibilities to take care of. If I start playing, well, stuff doesn’t get done and powers that be become angered.

Thanks again! This is great!

The loot train is worth deviating from this plan for. It’s quite possibly the best source for grenades, etechs, shields, and legendary coms (only the first gen, the rest come from tubbies post 62). Also, in UVHM the loot will always be on level, so if you aren’t finding upgrades for your gear naturally a few rounds of that will usually help a bunch. Plus, Tinder Snowflake is a pushover and there is a cheese spot if you don’t feel like playing fair. I’m not saying that you should level up by melting the snowman, but a few rounds could be helpful. Of the four Quasars I’ve had 3 came from the train and the fourth was a gift from RNGsus in a chest.

Also, I used those Survivor coms because it made the glass in my cannon feel a little less brittle and boosted Rising Shot helped rapid fire guns with good accuracy get stronger faster because they built the stacks quick and maintained them. If you’re going for a DPS boost there are better choices.

So do the loot train mission in UVHM? I may consider that.
Do the DLC’s cap at whatever level you start them at?

The last couple posts are definitely making me reevaluate my skill trees and COMs. Honestly I was pretty clueless on their impact.

Nope. Everything in UVHM scales with your level starting at 50

Follow @Piemanlee’s link for advices on skill trees and coms, the info found therein will change the way you look at the game through Zer0’s visor. The link @VaultHunter101 shared has great general tips as well as links to character specific versions. All said and done, a little knowledge goes a long way in this game. Those links will open a whole world of hurt on your foes. Via you, of course.

So I could do the mission in TVHM, then farm him in UVHM? Or do I have to complete it again(in UVHM) to farm him in UVHM?

Yes sir! I’m on it!

Do the mission in UVHM to unlock it in that playthrough, or do it at level 50 in TVHM to bolster your gear before starting out in UVHM. The TVHM runs will net you gear at a max level of 50, but the UVHM run will always scale with you in that playthrough. I always started UVHM, with all of my toons, by opening up the loot train farm.

At this time, I’ve just finished Boom and Bewm, I haven’t blown the gate down yet. I may try push forward to at least the next Fast travel, then do the Loot train(in UVHM).

This took me a minute to figure out.
No you don’t. You don’t need a skill tree vertically connected. For example if you go 5/5 in both tier one skills you can jump straight to tier three.

Somewhat uncommon - especially when you’re looking for them!

The Professional COM is a great one ; Killer’s pretty good and so is the Spy. The Survivor’s passive healing will probably let you down in UVHM. Better to get your healing from a Rubi ( in conjunction with grenades ).

This.

@zer0blivion: You can also do things like split five points in a tier between two skills: 2/5 and 3/5. Basically, as long as you’ve spent the total number of points required to unlock the next tier, it doesn’t really matter where they are.
