…listen to Prismatic Me
Now that I’m at 72, this shall be the plan I go with!
Now when you say slag transfusion, you mean this here?:
or something different, because I’m pretty sure I have those, and am actually using them.
Did I mention I’m at 72?
Yes, those. They should already be your best friend. So if you already have one hang onto it and just keep an eye out for possibly better variants. You can safely cross grenades off your list of gear you need.
Sorry wot?
Just out of curiosity, how far into the Pirates Booty DLC do I have to be, before I can do the “don’t copy that floppy”/Pimp quest?
You can’t do it until level 72
It’s the fifth map. Maybe 45 minutes to get there?
Well, heres the thing…just so you know…
45 minutes for folks that are good at the game. I’m looking at probably a couple hours.
The mission you’ll be looking for is Don’t copy that floppy. It’s given by Censor bot who is near the beginning of Washburne Refinery. Do note however that you first have to do another side quest for him(I’ll Know it When I see it is the name if memory serves) but that’s a quick mission on exactly the same route as the main quest line.
If before starting Scarlet’s you have a Fire and Corrosive (bonus for shock too) Lyuda you should be fine the mobs are mostly bandits and I’ve always had a feeling that their hit boxes are slightly bigger than average. Just keep an eye out for cursed pirates and anchor man as they’re probably the most likely to cause trouble.
Typing this it occurs to me now that you’re at level 72 acquiring Fire, Corrosive and Shock Lyuda’s is probably the place to start before diving into any content you’ve not already seen.
Ok, I can work on that. Right now all I’ve got is slag at 72, I may have a corrosive at 69, but I’d like everything up to 72. I know I have a non-elemental 70.
I don’t know what Gettle’s problem is. Mobley gives me 72 Verucs all day. I got 3 Verucs from Mobley, then Gettle gives a 70 non-elemental Lyuda. What a jerk! He finally gave a 72 slagged. Guess I’ll have to shoot him some more.
I continually go off about Gettle vs Mobley’s drop rates. It’s kind of a running joke that you’ll get 5 Verucs to every Lyuda.
@Dr_Do-Little defeated my claims by way of Science though.
I think Gettle is in such a hurry to get to Mobley that he forgets them on the kitchen counter. I mean that guy is so fixated on Mobley. I’ll be shooting him in the head with a LVL72 Hammer Buster (McNally knows whats up) and he’s still going after Mobley. Every once in a while he fly over to me, but not often. Mobley must’ve messed around with his old lady or something.
On a serious note, would it be a problem if I did the side quest in Frostburn Canyon? I mean I love shooting Gettle repeatedly over and over as much as the next guy but I may need to take a break from it at some point. I guess my question is there any reason I shouldn’t do that? Then when I complete it I can farm the Hellfire at some point.
Ssshhhh it doesn’t count.
Go ahead there’s little stopping you 100% the game now as LVL72 is a valid end game point. The pimpernel quest is probably the only one that you will want to be vigilant about as it will invariably find it’s way into most of your load outs.
Ok, I understand. I just know there are some gotcha’s when closing out certain quests especially if they can be farmed for certain items.
Hard to really answer without knowing what you’re thinking of as an end game load out. If you have an idea of what you want I’m sure we can direct you as to what to avoid. The quests that come to mind that you might want to possibly not take without thought are:
Base Game:
- Rakkaholics Anonymous: Rewards the Sloth or Rubi both excellent weapons for Zero.
- Fink’s Slaughter Round 5: Rewards the Hail a powerful Moxxi AR especially useful against foes such as Dukino’s Mum and Badassassuarus Rex.
- Doctor’s Orders, Animal Rights and Rocko’s Modern Strife: Makes Loot midget farming simpler/
- Uncle Teddy: Rewards the Lady Fist
- Best Mother’s Day Ever: Rewards the Love Thumper, although if you don’t plan to play Melee you can disregard this one.
DLC’s:
- Whoops: This rewards the Sandhawk. Note it will be auto accepted when you hand in Crazy about you in Scarlett’s DLC.
- Don’t Coppy That Floppy: Scarlett’s DLC, The Pimpernel, moving on.
- The Beard Makes the man: Tiny Tina’s DLC, Take it but don’t hand it in if you want a Grog Nozzle.
As far as shields go I’ve already emntioned that I like The Transformer (as absorb shields are my favorite type for most characters) but my #1 choice of shield for all occasions would be the Blockade- unfortunately you have to face down the Ancient Dragons of Destruction in the Tiny Tina dlc to get one (unless you can find some helpful soul who will trade/donate you one). Until then an adaptive shield is a good choice and if you want to you can farm the Neogenator from Spycho once you do Doc Zed’s Monster Mash side quest…
Right, I already messed this up. I have a lower level Rubi because I took it early on. Seems to work fine for healing however.
Everything else on the list are still undone.
Honestly, I have no idea at this point. I just figured I would do the main story, get to level 72 and do the DLC. Looks like there are a number of options. Right now I’m not even thinking about OP levels, but that could change. This is my first play through, so it’s all new to me.
At this point I guess I’ll ask advice and play what appeals to me. I’ll get whatever I can and then maybe even do a reset and another play through. I really don’t know.
If I do a reset, by then I’ll have a good idea on what I want I’m sure. Or BL3 will be out and I’ll be playing it.
I suppose I could level up another Zer0 as well. I’ve learned the main story well enough that I could get another Zer0 to 72 in a decent time frame I think.
Yes, I remember. I will probably farm this at some point.
I will probably do this to at some point.
Quiet honestly, I didn’t know there were so many possibilities.
Really though, right now I just was to improve my game play, but also start gathering stuff.
I’m sure the more I play, the better idea I’ll have it regards to what I want to do.
Still have to work on that but I need a little break. Physical world tend to get in the way sometimes. They do seem to have a notable difference in the elemental drop rate/chance thou.
Ok. Maybe a couple (as in roughly 2) hours for you and me but really not that long.
lol! Thanks for the head up. Was just wondering what music would be good right now! Got my answer!
That quest line always just leaves me under prepared for the Shrakk.
When I first reached 72 (sidenote this was with Maya) I grabbed a Hammerbuster, Ravager and some Pimpernel’s then reset the story. It’s something I thoroughly enjoyed as for the first time the pacing was totally up to me as I didn’t have to worry about keeping updated gear.
When thinking about your load out feel free to just throw out ideas or roles that you want your gear to perform and I’'m sure we can suggest weapons that fit the criteria. Possibly also listing if there’s certain types of gear you’ve grown to love too as that would also help recommendations.
Well, now I know I’m in good company for sure.
This appeals to me. I just know right now my skill level is sub par. Sure I can get through most anything I want/need to. There are more times that I’m having an absolute blast than when I’m not. There are some times that I get very frustrated, but not enough to get me to give up.
Prior to this, I’ve only played other FPS and the bulk of my experience is on PC and years ago. It took me a good 2-3 weeks to get used to the PS4 controller vs mouse and keyboard. If It was in my budget I’d be playing on a PC no doubt.
I really doubted that I would even be able to play UVHM, but it’s working out and I know I’ve gotten better and will continue to improve. So that’s what I want to focus on now.
That said, I want to get some good gear. To me that does make it some much fun.
Too this day Borderlands is the only FPS series I enjoy so UVHM seemed scary to me before diving in but the more I play it the more it becomes apparent to me 80% of the challenge of UVHM is not mechanical, it’s not how fast you can aim.
Those who excel are generally those going in with an idea on what they need to do to neutralize what they are going up against. More than anything this is something I learnt when I started tackling the peak. I could watch guys take on the peak and they made it seem simple. But when I tried it I would get caught out. Now that I am familiar with the map I can judge better what tactics will work. So I suddenly don’t get caught from behind by rabids, or put myself in a position where I am forced to kill quickly or be killed.
So next time you play I encourage you to be self aware before going into battle. Do a checklist of what is the aggressive approach, what is the conservative approach and which areas do you have an environmental advantage and when do they. This is all generic FPS stuff that I’m sure you know but Borderlands has so much going on that the first place everyone looks at when they fail is their execution and not their strategy.
It’s deceiving in such an over the top action game like Borderlands but UVHM and especially UVHM with Zero is very reliant on having a solid approach to each fight rather than just quick reflexes.
I tell you if it weren’t for the gear I would have stopped playing years ago.
