This seems like a good approach. I think I have to keep the gear ar around 160 slots so it is more manageable to find certain non needed effects. I generally keep all epics except duplicates so don’t look at this descriptions much, but most other gear constantly shuffling through to figure out if I need to delete. In the end I’m barely using much of these but like to have a collection covering as many areas as possible incase. OCD I guess.

This should help (although it could use some graphics!)
I find myself using the same items (pretty much) for everyone. The only real difference being ones I make for specific characters. Usually my melee’s have 1 attack speed one armor on skill damage. My ranged have Reload, attack speed, skill damage. LOL
Very few deviate from this. I think my Mellka and Kleese do. I don’t really have a problem getting rid of gear.
More recently I’ve been finding myself “trying” new stuff so I’ve been holding onto it for “what if” situations.

Same here. I could delete all, but about 30 pieces of gear, really. Except I can’t kick my collecting tendencies. Ah, well. I like having 50 or so free slots open so I don’t feel the need to delete after every mission.

Why don’t just sort them by type and delete every gear you don’t like/don’t use? No matter when you acquired them…
Definitely, I’d love to see a “new item” mark, but it’s not that necessary…
I have. I like ~198 of them.

And that’s the reason why switching back and forth between different sorting would take forever. I usually have more than 200 items. If you sort them by type, it’s very easy to see dupes (they are all placed by each other) and estimate gear’s profit for you.

Hmm, no, the item icon only indicates the primary stats and its rarity, it does not indicate any potential penalties. And since items with penalties are normally cheaper and/or have bigger primary stats to compensate, they might very well be worth keeping for specific champions (someone like Toby won’t care about reload speed, someone like Kelvin won’t care about shield recharge, etc).

Of course you should take stats in account, not only icon. But when all items of the same stats are placed by each other, it’s very easy and fast to compare them and go on to the next type.
I have about 80 slots total and roughly 20 of those are legendaries (I know, the grind is real). I delete any duplicates and anything with a negative aspect (except for the Eldrid ones which don’t affect Eldrid characters anyway and the occasional viable one).
I actually keep a lot of common gear because more often than not they are actually really useful - for example I have a heal item that gives me +7 regen per second for no cost, which is more than my legendary Song of Vigor at 1800. Who needs shields anyway?
Even that’s not strictly true, items with the same primary stats aren’t necessarily sorted next to one another.

It’s just a pile of little problems that adds up to a headache. Like how if you scroll around the list with your mousewheel and click something the list will sometimes jump back to the last item you clicked on instead, because why not.

Oh well, yeah, they are one item away from each other) And why do you need to know which ones are old and which are new? I compare them as they are.
apologies if this has been suggested already, I found it annoying that they don’t let you delete gear after the mission when it pops up, however there’s a sort option that lets you see the most recently obtained gear, so after a mission I switch to that option, delete my unwanted gear then go back to my general gear sort by type. My methodology is deleting anything I don’t think I’ll ever use. I keep anything that may be of the slightest use because maybe later there will be a use for it, but I am a bit of a pack rat that way.

Because I don’t want to compare every single visual duplicate in a list of 200 items every time I get a new item? And what if I get to the end of the list without having found anything, do I assume it was an item with new stats that had no duplicates, or do I assume that I missed it and go through the entire list of 200 all over again?
God, just thinking about that hassle is making me annoyed at how poorly designed the gear UI is, like we’ve not had two decades of loot games to draw experience from, some of which these very devs made.

I acquired a ton of legendaries from lootpocolypse, only time I delete any is when I get a better version. Other than those I delete everything except for 0 cost shard generators and any max Epic gear that I know I’ll use. I’ve had to buy more slots but I feel it’s worth it to keep all of them.
There are a few I thought I would never use but now use them all of the time ( Bunker Buster for example ).
While I agree the gear sorting system is not optimal, the fact you can sort by most recent allows you to bin things you immediately recognize as junk from the previous mission and the fact you can sort by type allows you to recognize duplicates quickly. There should be an option to delete as they come in after the mission though so you can queu for your next mission without having to go to the command screen every time though. Junk builds up quickly if you play a lot of PvE.

Oh, I understand you.
I only clean my inventory once I get overloaded with new items so they are everywhere)) And also maybe I’m at a point where I mostly delete duplicates and those items I’m sure will never use, like +heal, “15 seconds after CC”, “60 seconds after killing major enemy”, etc. so it’s almost no thinking involved.

Only cheaper, positive stats aren’t affected by penalties.
Fun fact; Kelvin has negative shield regen. Making it positive gives him a shield.

I maxed out; currently 240 unique items and the only greens and whites are shard gens and wrenches.

usually party of my problem is im 15 pcs over the limit so the new ones dont appear until i delete the old ones. with command menu glitch i dont visit command menu as often as i should for fear it will freeze. when i play PvE i usually grind several missions in a row and they give a decent haul after each mission. it adds up quickly. i guess i have to go through and spend sometime opening up slots
