i think a nerf should have happened
but not this strong
it rly didnt change anything as the annoint reroller costs so much.
and im not willing to farm eridium as a replacement.
if they would reduce the cost of all the eridium things by half each i would be able to say
fine
100 for rerolls, 150 for the gun gun, 250 for hemovorous, mayb one day 250 for other raidbosses like idk making all takedown bosses seperatly so we can fight them without the takedowns if you wanted to.
maybe making events 250 eridium a run, with many different things you couldd with eridium it becomes better then having 3 uses and they are overpriced.
and as it is right now, the drop nerf sucks.
things they could roll back would be
overall buffing it slightly back
overall give badass enemies and loot enemies a higher drop chance
make badass enemies and anything like it drop some bonus eridium.
all of these obviously mayhem exclusive. and also not all at once, pick 1 or 2 and good.
like i do think badass and loot enemies should drop more eridium, and have better loot quality then what we have right now
I don’t even think I’d say it’s casuals. People have complained about it since day 1 and continuously referenced BL1 and BL2 where it was a lot more about just the gun and they’re stuck in this mindset and unable to grasp BL3 has a completely different progression
I really don’t see this as a problem. If dedicated drop rates did not change(and I’m pretty sure someone will kill some bosses 1000 times and check this out) then it would be so much easier to make a perfect gear. World drops were mostly garbages, and legendary gears completely littering the ground was definitely a problem that needed tweaks.
Now yes, this might require hella lot eridium and yes, relics and classmods will become a pain to farm. But as I see it, eridium finally became valuable and relics and mods being harder to farm seems a fair trade to how it’s easier to make other gears. Though I do understand people having issues with this change, I think in the long run this change needed to be done. Will it need further tweaks? Maybe. Does it require total rollback? Don’t think so.
I didn’t answer the poll because there isn’t a I don’t care one way or the other answer.
As long as there are dedicated drops from certain enemies, world drops don’t matter much to me. They’re so random (by design) that a W.D. has rarely given me anything I’m needing. Good for cash, but little else.
Hard for me to give a concrete answer. I’m fine with all the crap guns/shields/grenades not dropping, but I’m pretty sure almost every one of my good mods and relics were world drops. Those are the main thing I have an issue with since there are so many variables.
I rarely found any good anointed gun by a world drop. For example if I wanted a corrosive ch1 trevonator, I needed to find a lot of bad trevonators first! Now I can just get one with the right element and try to re roll it. It’s the same but you actually have more control over it, as you just reroll the anointment. I personally feel like the ability to do that well justifies the world drop Nerf. Maybe we’ll see a slight adjustment to that but it feels right to me, I know some people are just so pissed about it, but in the end this changes were needed.
I put it at a 6. In general I agree with lowering the drop rate. I found it ridiculous that there’d be 75 laying on the ground after a slaughter shaft run.
That being said: the nerf was too excessive, in particular b/c I think it’s affected other loot as well. It’s only been two days, but I am noticing a lot fewer purples as drops and in particular vending machines. They are also assuming and I think incorrectly, that everyone would be using the reroll machine–many won’t have enough eridium to reroll too much.
I don’t know what the correct % drop should be, but I think they should scale it to the content. Basic content, such as farming an area like Big Donnie’s chop shop should have the highest reduction. World drops from basic bosses (like Traunt) should be reduced a bit less, followed by end game bosses (Troy/Tyreen), proving grounds, slaughter shafts, takedowns and the raid boss. So the harder the content, the less the nerf should be.
I think the number of legendaries feels good now, the cost of rerolling anointments is simply too high. I’d rather be hunting guns than anointments. If a reroll was, say, 25 to 50 eridium we’d be in a different spot. This afternoon I spent 9000 eridium rerolling one item… and I didn’t get the anointment I wanted.
While I answered a 2 my main question is why even bother at this point. GBX has pretty much given the modding community the greenlight for their own tweaks. There were plenty of mods out there for the people who thought the drop rates were too high. Don’t like the change? In another week someone will probably have a functioning mod to undo this nerf.
If GBX wanted to try for a please play our version the best thing would have been to implement a slider with a range as stingy as pre patch BL2 to I want 100% dedicated drops plus some worlds.
I absolutely couldn’t care less about world drops since everything interesting is a dedicated drop. We got anoint reroll machine and that’s pretty much everything I wanted.
I’m only bummed about the fact that this world drop change will make relic grind and classmod grind even more a pain, but honestly I got all the relics and COMs I need. I’ve been quite a collector these past months.
Absolutely hating it. I just have to say it must be nice to be a pc player where you can just access a save file to have everything at your disposal to actually have fun instead of grinding for hours on end on console in the hopes that a specific item drops with a preferable element and hoping it doesn’t have a ridiculous 5x optic on it only to realize its the wrong anoint that you will have to reroll to fix. Yeah, I’d rather just bypass the grind to reach the enjoyable power fantasy part. And as others have mentioned, what is the point of a Mayhem drop rate modifier when 1000% of 0 is still 0. Absolute garbage.
Just gotta say a massive screw you, to everyone who says “it’s fine as it is, cus the modders will fix it” to any issues with the game.
Aside from the fact that some people don’t want to use mods, console players don’t even have the option. We’re stuck with whatever gearbox tosses out, and therefore they need to get it right. If they just wanna let modders fix it, they should make PC only games and save their money. Or allow console players to mod the game.
As far as the poll, I picked 3. I think the game needed a nerf, especially with the new reroll machine, but it was a little too much. We’re back to the days of farming vending machines and save scumming gold chests/fabricator, instead of shooting stuff. Is this a looter shooter or a looter buyer game?
Also, yeah a lot of stuff has dedicated drop spots, but every item that doesn’t is now stupidly hard to get, and that includes relics which have mega-RNG and can’t be rerolled, making getting a god roll almost impossible. And dedicated drops could do with rebalancing - until recently I always found it easier to get gear from world drops in slaughter shaft than from their dedicated drop spots. Other than unique drops (can’t get them anywhere else), I’ve never seen the point in relying on dedicated drops. That might change now, but I’m not farming some boss 50 times for a single drop, let alone 100s for a specific drop that then needs rerolling. I’ll stick to the OP world drops like the hellwalker, thanks.
lol… a lot of content BEFORE the nerf was unrewarding, depending on where you are in playing the game. As in, just about every single world drop weapon.
After the Nerf, I don’t really feel like playing the game. I think that it was too harsh and should be dialed back a little.
But they nailed it with ALL of season pass two. Totally worth it.
Please, bring back the drop rates a little more.
Thank you.

I think this was a change for the better. It puts the emphasis back on dedicated drop farming, which is a better way to get better gun parts than having legendaries drop everywhere.
My only issue with it is that it seems to cover artifacts and class mods as well and given how hard it is to get a good com with the right skills and passives, I think they should drop as frequently as before.
