Open Beta Survey? Any other non-players get this email?

So when checking my email today, I got one from Gearbox telling me that I played Battleborn and they want to hear what I think.

Here’s what I think:

Check your player base, Double Check your player base and continue to do so until you know who exactly is playing your game beta. Which doesn’t include me.

It was actually sort of comical to think they thought I played (even though I didn’t) and still sent me a survey email. Well funny until I thought about it more.

Seeing as a non-player was sent a survey email, this sort of talks about how much the company knows about their player base. If they actually were in-tune with who plays their game (even when it’s not even out), then I wouldn’t have gotten the email. It worries me (even though I didn’t play and probably never will) because it makes me wonder how much they pay attention or listen to their actual players. And since this game is still in development, it’s even more concerning because if they aren’t paying attention now, then when would they actually pay attention?

Overall my point is that I didn’t play the Beta, so please don’t state that I did and try to have me take a survey that would have no accreditation attached to it.

FYI, one of the questions asks whether or not you participated in the beta, so they did not just assumed you played. They may be looking to collect info from people that didn’t on why they didn’t (in addition to the questions about the beta itself).

It was probably tied to your account. I kept getting emails talking about joining the beta even after having been playing for a few days by that point. It would take too much time to go through everyone’s emails and send it to only people who logged into their shifts in the beta for no real reason when a simple question in t he survey can do the same thing or… not taking a survey!

I was unaware that the survey way tied to my account. Otherwise I wouldn’t have posted this.

I still think that it is important to know who is playing you game. I haven’t even logged into my Shift for almost a month, and the last time was for getting help with Modding help related to Homeworld RM.

So from my point of view (if you wish to see it from that), I didn’t understand why I was getting a survey for a game I never played.

Got that email as well and answered. btw -like someone said above-on the survey there is actually a question where you can answer that you DIDN’T play the beta. I agree that they must have sent it to everyone on the gearbox board or something like that I suppose. They probably didn’t have access to the respective mail address of the steam account participating in the open beta anyway.

I got an Email from every account I have registered with Steam. (Tons of them since pre-Steam VDC days)
Did not find this at all humorous but I do know how deep the relationship is between Randy and Gabe.
(Gabe and I worked together at Msft btw.)
