Open input on Thorn

I think I said I get helix for Kreshek Judgement and Hexsanguination. So I deal dps for my cursed volleys almost after every cd. And beside that, you throw in a Blight with slow, ticking every 0.5 seconds.

Yeah I don’t initiate a fight in frontline, but I never stop skirmishing as soon as I have Fell Wind and Vaulting Hunter which I can escape lots of sticky situation.

I still can’t find where you are disagreeing with me lol!
I agree with that 100%

Hahaha! Oh well let’s have a badass day! :grinning:

I agree, which justifies the fact that her abilities are so powerful.

If u fire an arrow and immediately cast her L1 at the same time it will cut the first fire animation and launch arrows as if it was a single shot…Great tactic I use. Her power lies within her abilities not her arrows although they are important to land for finishing off enemies. Shes the best counter to an annoying toby with her pierce in helix 3.

I like her but I think she should be nerfed tbh. Reduce the damage on her aoe and reduce helix from 6 sec aoe to 4. Shes broke…

Have never played Thorn, but she seems very strong when I play against her. Although, that’s pretty much anyone with AOE and hers is top tier.

Thorn has the highest damage in team games because of AoE. She can’t cut it as an assassin though. She is between Marquis and Oscar Mike.

Playing Thorn is high-risk high-reward…if you take away the reward, why would anyone bother with the risk…

I don’t know about that… I pretty much play her solely as a skirmisher/assassin, usually with the most kills on my team (not even always from kill stealing!). She has the perfect kit for assassin play. You drop a blight field to slow and damage, you hit them with a point blank volley (landing every arrow if they are a big target, maybe even a crit with a few), by then the enemies either dead if they were weakened at the beginning, or almost dead. Then you still have an ultimate to finish them off.

The part that makes her advanced is 1; landing the blight perfectly on the center of the enemy is really tough. 2; often they will be 1 or 2 arrows from death. Being able to land those arrow strikes as they retreat is usually the difference between me having a great game vs. a mediocre one. Also 3; knowing when to use the ultimate. Sometimes it can be tempting to hold it for a kill, but when the enemies are grouped up, especially when they’re all standing on their minions, that’s the perfect time.

My favorite is having the bunny hop. Aiming downward with the blight field makes landing it perfectly so much easier.

I think the only bit of her that might need some rebalancing is the slow she gets on her blight field at tier 1

Nooooooooooooooooooo ):

in addition to cuts on blight dmg and time, as mentioned above, thorn’s ult needs to be toned down too.

I like her blight and maybe the radius should be toned down or the Cooldown. Her ulti is plain out ridiculous putting her next to orendi in terms of burst potential and even orendi is kinda hmmmmmm… But back on point i suppose. the object of AOE in a game is not to excel single target spells or aim required ones. Having both high aoe and damage without some direct tradeoff such as being rendered immobile while its in effect or etc makes counterplay very limited. Now and too often what I see in this game is not about high paced action and skillfully place shots but just CC trains for kills. Thorn slows you then boom boom boom your dead, no counterplay, orendi blinds you boom boom boom your dead no counterplay, phoebe slows you stab stab stab ur dead, El dragon ults your dead, rath knocks you up and silence ur dead, galil stuns (pre nerf) your dead , even post nerf your probably still dead, ghalt trap ur dead, alani trap ur dead. See what im saying here and since dmg resistance and CC are so worthless in this game it makes it even more futile to argue counterplay mechanics its just whoever hits who first( and as mentioned in another thread) getting hit while aiming your skills also puts them on CD which is even LESS counter-play inducing and more one sided engages.

This is the bit I think needs fixing. The rest is fine in my opinion.

That’s because her bow is the hardest damn thing to use in the game.

Not only do you have to slow your aim speed to get any damage. The reticle is extremely unclear on whether or not you will miss. To the point where a full charge arrow with the 50% acc perk will still miss even when aimed dead on.

Then you throw on the fact its a projectile and you have to some how aim it right with its range drop off. I mean what the heck. You’ll never fully charge that arrow because the pay off is non existent on anything but a sentry.

Which is why you rely entirely on both blight and volley cursing targets. Also why I almost always take the perk that allows volley to pass through targets because then the 120 damage is free.

She just needs the sniper tag replaced with Pusher at this point.

Thorn is a great sniper and a great shot if you play like a real archer. I’ve played alot of Resident evil 5 so I’m quite used to using a bow in a shooter type of way. The most imporant thing is remembering to slow down, and place your shots. You are a archer not a gunslinger so play like one, target people who are being immobile or slow, shoot for their chests increasing your chances of hitting, try to stay stealthy as to not be notcied that you are aiming.

I’ve out sniped marquis and been outsniped as marquis by and as thorn. The damage is extremely potent on a charge shot that using uncharged is pointless, the blight perk just makes it all the more worth it as it does insane damage and you can even increase the damage by like 72 per second for 4 seconds with a helix. That amount of damage alone is insane especially when going full passive build making all skills trigger it and you easily become nigh unstoppable.

I would say she’s pretty balanced. As of tonight she does have my record for highest damage game.

250k may seem excessive but this was a perfect storm of a premade enemy team of all support characters, I also had 2 teamates who were melee that were struggling so much of the damage for the entire team was from me and Alani. The game went the full length of time as well.

I play Thorn as a caster using the hex on volley with the extra hex % damage to power up her ult and blight to epic heights. I then have as much Skill Damage and Cooldown Reduction as I can get in her gear. Works well for me since her basic attacks are unreliable.

Also the bow has very low dps when you do land shots. She relies pretty much entirely on those abilities. I just think the slow in the helix is a little excessive.

While on paper her DPS might be slow almost everytime I play her I lead the team in total damage done…

Burst Damage can be better than DPS but also all 3 of Thorns skills have high damage where a lot of the characters with higher DPS on their basic attacks have low DPS skills that are utility instead.

When you factor in skills and basic attacks then the Damage/DPS story is much different.

Thorn has some of the best DPS in the game when you put everything together

Gotta agree with you. I deal an average of 180k damage if the game ends in 30 mins. You can just kill someone by hitting all three of your skills.

Her normal attacks are pretty good too actually if you can hit a charged arrow and shoot the next few by predicting the player’s movement. That’s how I play Thorn (level 1-2) especially in Overgrowth, in-fact I’ve gotten lots of first blood from my normal attacks alone.
