Alright, this is technically feedback, but it’s more some things that I feel need said. This is NOT going to be a post about problems or proposed solutions or any of that, so take that elsewhere. I just feel the need to acknowledge what the team behind this game have created. First of all, let me say that I’ve spent quite some time both playing the beta, and here on the forums. A lot of valid points are being made, and a TON of feedback has already happened. I haven’t said a whole lot on here, but I’ve read most of the posts and kept up with the forum almost religiously. Alright, that’s all that out of the way.
Dear GBX,
I wanted to do this explicitly to tell you guys what a wonderful job you have done with this game. Even though the game hasn’t been released yet, I think the entire driving force behind this game deserves a major pat on the back. As far as I’m concerned, you guys have created something truly innovative here. The core experience behind this game is amazing. Almost every single aspect of this game deserves mountains of praise. It’s visually stunning, high octane, addictive, and the character chatter has made me laugh harder than watching Animaniacs while tipsy. It’s obvious that a lot of love and devotion have been put into making this something truly special, and it’s paid off. I could gush about this game for days, but I’m trying to keep this short(ish), so on to why, exactly, I’m writing this.
I know that you guys at GBX actually listen to your players. You hear our requests, read our feedback, and do everything you can to give your players the best experience. Because I know you listen, I know that you guys hear the criticism as well. I’ve seen quite a few posts about how Battleborn needs something that some other game has, or needs to change in some way to fit a preconceived notion. Now, I’m not trying to say that any of this is invalid feedback, but I feel that it needs to be said that Battleborn was innovative from the ground up, and as such is not going to match any other game especially well. I can only imagine how difficult this beta would be if I were the one doing it. Having to take endless amounts of feedback on how someone else thinks your creation should be cannot be easy for anyone. I feel as though a lot of people don’t consider that when they get caught up in some aspect or other. Don’t feel compelled to change the heart of the game that you’ve all worked on for so long due to any criticism here. It seems a little silly to say all of this, but we as players tend to forget that the devs are people just like us, who love video games and want to share their ideas, art, and creations with the world. I want you all to know that many of us appreciate what you do, and ESPECIALLY what you’ve done with Battleborn. You took a chance, innovated, and dared to make something different, and we as gamers love you for it. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know that there are those out there who feel the same as I do. I cannot stress how truly special this is to me, and cannot hope to express the gratitude of the thousands of people who already love this game. I don’t mean to make this weird, but I want the entire team here to know that we are grateful for what you do. We’re grateful for your daring streak, and we’re grateful that you listen. There will be negative feedback, I’ve already seen plenty, but don’t let it get you down! Keeps your heads held high through this beta knowing that it’s only happening because you, as the devs, and we, as the players, care. You’ve created a full-blown masterpiece here, and don’t let anyone tell you different based on their personal taste. I’ve already gone on too long about this, when all I ever really intended to say was thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our gamer hearts.
To all the badasses at GBX, sincerely,
A Battleborn
