Orendi discussion

Sorry, had to ;p

Level 7 Helix, that’s too late. No time to “change” tactics or anything that late in the game. All it can do at that point is allow you to spam nullify/shadow pillar a bit more before maybe having to take cover.

That said, I wasn’t commenting specifically on her squishy-ness but the fact that she seems 1-dimensional and the Helix, at least in my honest opinion, doesn’t really change much of how she is played regardless of which Helix option you choose.

Both Nullify and Shadow Pillar are the main focus of Orendi and she seems to focus on spamming both as much as possible…but at the base both those abilities are just medium-ranged damage skills. I can’t see how I can change up my strategy/tactics with her when she’s just so straight forward…

It’s sad though, Orendi was the character that got me to take a closer look at this Battleborn. :frowning:

Fair enough.

Personally, it doesn’t really bother me.
She is ment to be played on a medium distance, unless you gett her vampiric skill (which is almost a given, unless they are still tweaking her damage output). Which allows a slightly mroe in your face style (not to mention that one of her skills allow for an instant shield recharge when Nullify is used). Sure her more tanky skills are late in the tree, but considering her damage output, it is not really that bad I think.

And i’m not sure if you have played already (I haven’t) but your thoughts on this can still change. One of her skills ads dot damage to enemies who are affected by Shadow Pillar (don’t ask me for names…), perhaps that it works as a debuff mechanic for your team mates? It may not be much, but as long as we aren’t/can’t play(ing) BB is is just speculation.

To add: Burned and Busted reveals hidden enemies by using SP, if it team based rather than just for Orendi only it is a huge benefit.

I haven’t played it myself, but from the gameplay and my own study of the character, I’ve formed my opinion. Mind you, my opinion as of now is open to change, and I’m hoping that it DOES change (for the better).

I didn’t want to shoot down your opinion, sorry if it did sound like it.
Just wanted to share my on view on this.

Also, last bit I wanted to share. If someone decided not to pick her survivability skills, I think she’s can be considered a support, instead being more or less tank-ish.

No, I didn’t take it as such. I was merely stating that my opinion is based off of 2nd hand experiences (watching gameplays) and my own personal analysis of her current abilities and helix. Also stating that I’m hopeful that my opinions will change to something more positive once I get my hands on the game.

3rd Helix tier, Option “Let’s Bounce”, as of right now is what I want to know a bit more about. It might be the key to making her a bit more dynamic by giving her a unique mobility option.

I want to know DISTANCE, SPEED, etc etc.

If the distance is large enough it could be stupidly fun.
Yeah, like to know more about this aswell.

Also, I’d like to have some mroe info on ‘I Hate Your Pretty Eyes’. In particular how the AI is going to react to it.

The main thing “Let’s Bounce” took care of for me, was that i didn’t have to think about where i was facing when using the dash. Which eased manouvering by a lot.
I’ll probably go with this every time I play Orendi, unless there’s an unlockable 3rd option that is even better.

That’s reassuring then. How far was the dash? Was it enough to get out of range of certain attacks? Or does it have a short range which probably won’t spare you from, let’s say…Ambra’s Meteor of doom?

How fast is the dash? Do you almost “instantaneously” get to the point where you would land, do you sorta “glide” to the location, is it a “warp” type of dash? <Is there gameplay footage of it being used?>

I just want to know if it’s effective as an evasion tool and/or a way to close gaps between you and your enemy, or even to put distance between you and an enemy.

Can you use Nullify/Shadow Pillars in mid-air? If yes, how would “Let’s Bounce” work (if at all)? It would be cool (If you CAN use Nullify in mid-air and “Let’s Bounce” DOES work) to use Nullify as you reach the peak of your jump and use Nullify and “Let’s Bounce” will dash you UPWARDS (Pseudo-Double Jump) or even using it as you’re descending and “Let’s Bounce” will make it so your descent is faster.

@Devs If that’s not currently the case…can it be considered? O_O I want Orendi to have a Magical Upward Dash/Downward Descent.

@TheFunfighter I’m sorry for the random questions; I’m currently fixated on Orendi’s mobility.

The dash range was comparable to… 1/2 to 1/3 of her cast range for Shadowfire Pillar, I think. The speed was pretty quick imo. Not instantaneous, but quick enough to sidestep I’d say.
Usually it’s primarily a gap opening tool, since it transports you backwards without Let’s Bounce.

About the midair casts:

Nullify IS the dash
Shadowfire Pillar can be casted iirc, but since you gotta select a zone first and then wait for the 1.5 second windup, it’s not really impactful. Also the dash is quite fast, so you will probably never get around to completely cast it within the dash time.

With “direction of your current movement”, the horizontal plane is meant btw.

Judge for yourself:

Ah, Ok, things are becoming clearer. Thanks.
The speed seems “decent”, the distance…not so much at first glance.

We also don’t really know what the 3rd options for the skill helix will be - the one we’ve seen for Reyna seems like it will dramatically change the way she’s played.

New Orendi gameplay =)

Turns out that the dash also works on vertical movement. Check the video that “sunro” posted above this reply.

Yeah, so it does. Nice.
The video also showed a bit of how it’d look like to be “slowed” if I’m not mistaken, right? Or was it something else?

I guess you mean the “not-sprinting” XD Wondered if there’s some kind of hidden stamina or CD for that. It seemed unlimited to me, but that might be because it’s the playtest version for conventions.

I meant like around 5:28ish when the screen changes and the sound “muffles” and stuff. I took that as being under Slow-ing effects…I could be wrong.

its nice to be able to play as tina. I think i may have to start with benedict though.

It’s hard to tell in the video, but I think the mohawked spear thrower who dies at 5:58 is named ‘Thrall Ascendent’ and I’m pretty sure it’s spelled with another ‘a’ - Thrall Ascendant. Just in case the GBX spell-checkers hadn’t caught that yet (though, if I’m mistaken, I blame the video artifacting!).
