Oscar Mike Discussion

Yeah, the absurdly huge view models bug me alot. Not just for Oscar Mike but everyone who wields a weapon one way or another.

Have you been talking to the people at r/Overwatch?

Woo-Hoo! just became a member. :joy:
Now, back to the topic at hand.

Yeah, but as you said you can change the guns if you want to. what compounds the problem with oscar mike is the fact that it gets worse after you’re forced to upgrade the weapon for red dot or scope.

surprisingly, oscar mike is the only character that bothers me. even montana with his massive ‘mini’-gun is fine in comparison for some reason.

its just the fact that i literallly blocks 25 - 33% of the screen it’s quite infuriating actually and the funny thing is if it wasn’t for that he would probably be one of my favourites, now whenever i see him i get a little annoyed.

the gun is just so unrealistically big (yes, i’m aware of how silly i sound), it’s almost comically large. no assault rifle should ever be that large, assualt rifles are lean mean killing machine (even one with grenade launchers and hypothetical missile strike capabilities) should be finer than his (IMO). :triumph:

I believe it might feel a little chunky at first but the look and sound of it is great - the size of it also adds to the comic part of Oscar Mike that I really like =)

And fortunately we dont have anything else that blocks our sight

Now don’t you DARE say an unkind word about the Metroid Prime series! Those games were AWESOME and really showed what was possible with modern 3D graphics to fully immerse the players in the game and its world! To this day, few First Person View games immerse a player in their environment as fully as the Metroid Prime games did! :sunglasses:

With scope/sight equiped it blocks even more. Hope the game atleast ships with a decent FOV (90 is what I consider decent).
But, I agree with you.

Strangely, it never bugge me in MP 1 and 2, what did bug me however was that it never had widescreen support untill its Wii re-release.

G**Damn PC gamers getting all the graphics and all the options! :rage:
Aaaaaaarrrrrrrhhhhh!!! KHAN!!!

I am also a fan of Metroid Prime

I just wanted to chime in to say that I love the large weapon models - so much of the character of who you are playing is lost when things like that are relegated to the periphery and you’re spending the whole game just looking at crosshairs. Heavy bulky equipment should feel heavy and bulky, I’d contend.

Started the update to this op i’ll get back to it either tonight or tomorrow

Idea: As a third helix choice for level 1 (Impact Trigger or Stealth Attack) it would be fun if there was a helix skill that would alter the melee attack to perform much like a rougue’s backstab in WoW while in stealth.

For example:

  • Helix Skill: Melee attack has 700% increased damage while in stealth (target must be facing away from you).

Of course this attack would break stealth. Numbers are also just made up

What do you think?

it’s a cool idea idea, but i don’t think they want Oscar Mike as a melee character.
then again for all i know it could be his third helix tree ability, maybe like a melee over-ride from borderlands.

I think of it more as a opener, followed by a spray of bullets. Making for some really aggressive play in PVP.

I bet we will see a melee character with stealth to be announced soon =) Maybe a rogue in the ‘Rogues’ faction

We already have 6 melee characters announced, thats a decent chunk of the 25. Sure a few are hybrid melee but thats still lot.

I think Oscar Mike needs a bit more to back up the close encounters than just a single massive damaging melee strike to deal with the enemies.

Add in a Helix level 3 skill, when exiting stealth mode a shockwave emits from Oscar Mike’s Armor dealing damage to nearby enemies. Something like a nova blast from Borderlands 2 shields.

There is a typo in the Tier 8 choice Fragpocalypse. It reads Boosts Frag Grenage damage. +30 damage, instead of grenade.
