SOOOOOOOOOOO
PiP gets overrided most of the time? xD

While not on fire on crits, yes. That would not be most the time

Based on this I’d say that PiP is actually pretty decent even for guns without splash damage, because it will increase the damage you when you don’t crit without hurting your crit damage; you wont get anything from PiP on crits, but it won’t hurt any other damage sources you have (ie BB, StF, crit from your gun, or what ever)

But what about with other additive damage buffs?

Lady Fist Crit
100 x 2 x (1 + 800%) = 1,800

Lady Fist Crit PIP not on fire
100 x (1 + 25%) x 2 x (1 + 800%) / (1 + 25%) = 1,800

Lady Fist Crit PIP on fire
100 x (1 + 50%) x 2 x (1 + 800%) / (1 + 25%) = 2,160

Lady Fist Crit, Bloodbath 5/5 100 stacks
100 x (1 + 250%) x 2 x (1 + 800%) = 6,300

Lady Fist Crit Bloodbath 5/5 100 stacks, PIP not on fire
100 x (1 + 25% + 250%) x 2 x (1 + 800%) / (1 + 25%) = 5,400

Lady Fist Crit Bloodbath 5/5 100 stacks, PIP on fire
100 x (1 + 50% + 250%) x 2 x (1 + 800%) / (1 + 25%) = 5,760

This is an important part of the equation with PIP

The on- fire bonus is added to both the Crit penalty and the gun damage, instead of just replacing the gun damage, I thought the same thing.

So those equasions should look like:

But you’re right, I totaly missed that the penalty being multiaplicative while the gun damage adds with gun damage.

As a side note it still dosent effect types A or B crit becasue both of them are multaplicative.

I didn’t know that part of it, but yeah the point remains, thanks for clearing that up.

Likewise, thanks for pointing out that I missed the mult/add thing

Are these numbers correct with ingame observation? it’s kinda weird that the crit damage is the same *regardless of PiP’s rank(from the crit damage formula, the crit penalty cancelling the gun damage while both ignited and not).

*considering no other bonuses outside of PiP’s modifers

Yeah, the bottom section of the first chart is test data and the top section is the math behind that test data

The important thing is that the on fire bonus applies to both the benfit and the penalty of PiP

Oops, forgot to read the op it seems…

I got the same result you got, I just found it a bit strange that a couple of rows had the same values;

Also I just noticed X’s and someone else’s post at another thread and the crit value was the same.

I just thought it was weird for the values to remain the same (e.g.: here) but that’s no surprise since the crit type A buff cancels out the crit penalty:

PiP rank n (for n positive integer where 0 ≤ n ≤ 11):
finalDamage = baseDamage * (1 + (n * 0.05)) * 2 * (1 + 0.0) / (1 + (n * 0.05))

Changed some lines, the same algorithm should work for melee damage (same crit damage formula except crit A and B bonuses should be 0.0)… so yeah, bad for melee (if you have other melee bonuses other than PiP).

does the crit penalty apply to melee? I never tested because I assumed it didn’t

Yes it does as typeC with the bonus/penalty applied the same way as with weapons although melee doesn’t recieve neither typeA nor B bonuses.

Huh, thats interesting

The struggle is real whilst fighting against spiderants or other enemies where you can/should aim for crits (not really, but I wouldn’t trade a shi† melee bonus for a shi† crit hit damage).

Ah, it is like that, thats weird. I just tested it. and I mean, it’s not like krieg is laking for melee damage, you don’t have to take PiP.

If I remember correctly I think it’s 9/5 PiP that you see crits less than body shots.

yes and no, you’ll see lower crits than non-crits at rank 8, assuming no other sources of gun damage, you’ll see them earlier if you have bloodbath or BAR or whatever

Where can you find the math for Krieg’s total expected damage per shot for X weapon that benefits from his skills and breaks down how the formula works. Would like to see numbers for crits and non crits, and with and without PiP.
