[PC] Bug associated with screen sizing

Upon starting up Battleborn, 1 of 2 things happens for me:

  1. The game starts up normally, in Borderless Windowed mode, in a resolution that my poor little old computer can’t handle. When I check the resolution, it simply says “undefined”. The game also appears to be fullscreen, taking up the entire monitor, no other windows visible, etc. The game won’t let me adjust the resolution until I change to either Windowed mode, or Fullscreen. However, if I try to go into Windowed mode, the game becomes windowed, but becomes extremely narrow. It stays as tall as the monitor, but only takes up about a third of the width of the monitor. In this state, the resolution still cannot be adjusted, showing up only as “undefined”. If I try to go into Fullscreen, the game instantly crashes, and my screen enters a ~300x300 resolution until I close the crash report.

  2. The game starts up with an extremely small resolution (~300x300), and, after the 2K and Gearbox Logos, goes into a resolution of ~8x8 (but the screen stays at ~300x300, so only a tiny corner isn’t empty). As it is impossible to see anything at this miniscule resolution, the game is unplayable. I do hear the sound of Nova saying “welcome back” or some synonym of that, but I can’t see a thing.

I was able to play the Beta upon downloading it, but after a day, this began happening. Anyone else run into this?

yep. Was just going to report similar issues. Any time I try to change the resolution to anything other than what the game launches in, i get issues. Crashes, not actually changing the resolution, the undefined issue, (although if you hit the arrow keys, eventually undefined turns into all of the different resolutions) and the super small/narrow windows I have all encountered. I was messing with video settings when, after about 5 mins of single player campaign, my fps tanked for no reason. It seems that anything to do with the fullscreen/window/borderless window setting and resolution just screw up the game for me.

I found a fix for it, if it starts up normally and not tiny. You go into the menu, and change to Windowed mode. Then, press the fullscreen button in the corner to remove any trouble navigating the menus that you might have if the window has bizarre dimensions. Then press the arrow keys, as ChickenWings said, until you find the resolutions that don’t just say “undefined” by pressing the arrow buttons until they show up. Find your desire resolution, then implement it. If you want to play in fullscreen, after this adjustment, then simply change to fullscreen mode and, if necessary, re-adjust the resolution. If you try to change to fullscreen when the resolution is “undefined”, the game WILL crash.
