PC games on disk question

If you buy a PC game on disk, do you always need that disk to be in when you play that game? I haven’t used a PC disk in over 10 years and I believe you did used to have to. Kind of hoping you don’t anymore because I’m thinking about buying Battleborn for PC (And some places offer 20% off new retail games if you buy them on disk)

nope

If the game uses Steam, Uplay, or Origin, then definitely not because those services are Digital Rights Management (DRM) focused. The reason you had to have the CD/DVD in was to prevent pirating, but the online services handle that now. Older games still do a check, but most modern ones don’t.

Thanks. I figured it could be worked out but I did use to play Diablo 2 which was an online game and I believe that required it. Glad to see things change.

Nope you never have to use the disc, not even for installing.
You’ll get a Steam code with the game.
