So basically what they did with the classics + newer resolution support.
Maybe some updated textures or models, doesn’t have to be the standard of Remastered. Or UI.

HWC remastered with this game engine would be as unfaithful to its original game mechanics as HW1 remastered is.
I would love to see Gearbox enable MP for the classic versions, but there has been no response to that as far as I’ve seen. So, I have to assume they aren’t interested.

Thank you for saying what I wished to.

If a full remaster is out of the question then I would be quite content with HD textures and the Cataclysm engine updated to run on modern operating systems and in widescreen without having to use a hack and compatibility mode. As far as the textures go, 2/3 of the ships in the game are Taiidan or Bentusi and HD textures for those are already available from the work on HMR.

The thing is, those textures were meant for the remastered models. So remastering the models as well would be good. (easier than textures?)

the Cata engine can’t be just “updated” since thy don’t have the source code to modify… Anything they do would require a lot of work from scratch.

What’s the difference where to start the game? I am ready to buy it, and like the rest of the developers are hoping to release the game!

What is the source code anyway

The original uncompiled raw code they used to create the game. Apparently it’s lost. They can’t find it anywhere, perhaps under the sofa?

Probably the one they threw out!
