I don’t understand it either. But I have argued or talked with a bunch of people who simply wants a level cap. They don’t care about the loot at all. They will use whatever. Initially I thought they are just trolling but they are not.
Extra 3 to 10 leveling up aren’t really a challenge but more of a tedious tasks (at least for me). Again some people see this as the “challenge”. I don’t get it and maybe I will never will.
Well because you made the comment that it’s all about the loot but not everyone plays for the loot. I get what you are saying but I’m trying to say not everyone believes in what you think the game is.
Challenge isn’t from leveling, it’s from min maxing at new cap, farming new gear - finding best combination of skills. The leveling itself isn’t a challenge, but it provides a path forward for those bored at end game.
Too bad it doesn’t matter what any of us think - the devs believe they know what we (as consumers) want better than we do and since they’re the ones making the game you have to accept it for what they’re making it. Don’t like it? Better move on to support a company that doesn’t treat its customers like they don’t matter…
If the level is going up then we should have to put in the work to get new gear. If my gear levels up with me and the enemies then it’s a net zero. Nothing changes.
I’m very much looking forward to not being able to wreck Fervor and the Takedown in a couple minutes.
I feel ya, I get pretty choked knowing PC players can just download a save and have a perfect build in minutes. I did my fair share of duping in BL2 so I can’t complain too much though
Adding 3 more skill points to already OP builds is not a new challenge. I don’t see any new end game content with this update, unless you count gimmicky hearts that you can shoot for pretty explosions consisting of unicorn farts.
This in a big way. Been an advocate of this since BL2. What should happen is each levelcap increase
should introduce a new anointment on gear. Existing gear can level but if you want the new anointments you will need to play and farm. At the very least offer
a way to utilize eridium or money to level what you have.
Hell yes. This cap increase has reminded me that farming is a waste of time. It’s not fun, its rarely rewarding, and as soon as the cap goes up, it’s all for nothing.
So I’m guessing gear goes up to 53 now? If so, I’m going to sit this game out for a while. No point spending time getting gear that will become obsolete. Once again, farming is not fun.
You can actually do that now. Just use a white gear (or purple all the way) and you won’t be wrecking Fervor and Takedown.
For sure the enemies will level up. If you can level up your VH, why not gear as well? At the end once you reach the cap and your target gear, nothing will change. You’d be back wrecking again.
And then another level cap comes again. I guess for others this is what their notion of enjoyment. To each his own lol
I think it would make sense if we have a clear timeline of the level cap (if we can’t entirely avoid level cap raises). I wanna know when will the next level cap comes after lvl 53? March? December?
Depending on the time frame, I might spend time in farming or not. This is simply not because we are lazy but we are just being smart with our time.

At least to me Borderlands as a whole has always been about the farm or the grind. That’s like the whole spirit of the game.
I honestly don’t know what’s the true spirit of BL. I have read enough things from veterans where things that were in BL1 and BL2 didn’t get to BL3. So which exactly are the elements in BL that comprise its spirit? Also just because something was a tradition does not mean it should be done again. A lot of people hated the BL3 story – it goes against the spirit of previous BL games as they claim.
If you can level up gear, why does that mean it’s not grinding? You can grind for parts that would require leveling it up. You can use the gear in actual battle to level it up. Those are still grinding. Or if you want to make it an extreme grind like what other games do, have 5 dupes of the same gear, of the same grade and stats – combine them with some special jewel – to produce the next tier.
just add an option to Earls eridium shop to increase the level of an item. Make it 100 eridium per level and call it a day. Then atleast eridium has some use. Would also negate the problem with underleveled gear from chests.
at that point wouldn’t that over haul loot completely? if you could get weapon parts instead of weapons? that would be interesting but that seems much more likely in something like destiny to me.
side note. i loved the story as it continued it, although i didn’t enjoy certain aspects but that’s a different discussion.
i like this a bit but at the same time i think that’s incredibly cheap. maybe like 30k a lvl
take for example someone that farms kybs worth, arguably the best gun in the game for quite a few builds, now they spend 300 eridium that it took them 20 minutes to get, and its back on top, no grind no nothing. seems very very easy.
Well certainly it won’t be like traditional BL. But isn’t that what anointments did? I dont think they were in previous BLs. I only played BL2.
The parts collection is just a random thought. I’d prefer to have new tier to farm or a way to upgrade gear parts. When you go the gun info, you can see its part. It’d be nice if we can mix and match stuff like barrerls and accessories. That will add extra complexity and grind in game.
I’m ok with this IF GB prevents duping, sharing files, and selling of items outside the game. That’s far easier. There’s a bunch of YT influencers and streamers don’t even grind their gear. And to quote you “seems very very easy”.
