Phoebe Discussion

New Phoebe gameplay =)

Man, the player in that video was really struggling to make use of her Phasegate.

In that demo, it was particularly hard to get it to go exactly where you wanted…especially if you were trying to go up to ledges above.

We’ve tweaked some things since then that should make the experience a lot better.

Awesome! I think I’ve watched every Bliss playthrough online, and that was the first time I noticed anything - the game is looking really polished!

Yeah, when I played through the Bliss demo for the 6 or so times, I hadn’t noticed these issues that the player in the playthrough was seeing, but I quickly realised I jump. Everywhere. Boing Boing.

Offtopic I know (sorry), but borrowing this from @daerksiea

Can’t wait for the technical test (assuming I’m fortunate enough to make it in) and the first time I get to run around this game  .

Haha, I can’t wait either. While I’ve been lucky enough to run around the Bliss demo, still itching to get my hands on the PvP of Battleborn, as soon as I can.

-making toast, goes into cupboard, reaches for the jelly but empty space- Hmm… - looks up to see no jar, eyes narrows- WHO. THE. HELL. -slams down butterknife into counter- STOLE. MY. JELLY!!!

I liked to see the spiffying of the victory animation. It was one of my biggest complaints during the CTT. It’s appropriately flashy!

Also Phoebe focusing on damage output is deadly but at the cost of being squishy. A good team set-up to keep her alive would have been fantastic. A Miko and/or Reyna would have helped out such an aggressive game play.

So, it seems that Elizabeth Maxwell is going to be the voice actress.

I’ve yet to see Arise, but Ghost in the Shell was one of the handful of Animes I actually liked (although GitS:SAC I LOVED).

I’ll watch Arise later, but I’m glad to see some one with enough clout to play the Major, getting cast as one of the wide array of voice actors.

Phoebe mutations:

Helix Level 3, Crosscut - After completing her primary melee combo, Phoebe temporarily deals increased damage with True Strike. +150% Damage

Helix Level 5, Blade Sweep - True Strike chains a second attack after the dodge that hits all targets in a close range.

Helix Level 6, Contingency Plan - When Phoebe’s shield is broken, Phasegate’s cooldown is instantly reset.

Helix Level 9, Close-Quarters Training - Increases Blade Rush’s damage when enemies are in close range. Up to +100% Damage

My opinions on her mutations: I love all of them although CQC Training is kind of meh. Crosscut is EXTREMELY good. I did damage calculations (and testing) with it. If you pick Reprise on Helix Level 5, you can get 400+ damage on the True Strike combo hit (as with Reprise it does two hits with the Crosscut bonus added to both, for +150% damage on the first strike and +150% THEN +40% on the second).

Blade Sweep is quite nice when you’re going for more minion clear instead of assassination (and it makes True Strike much easier to hit). I haven’t tested how Crosscut affects it but I believe it applies to it as well. Contingency Plan is nice as well, but I believe it has a cooldown of some sorts.

I unfortunately have not unlocked the last mutation, but I’m pretty sure it will be for Helix Level 10. I’ll report back when I have it!

edit: Crosscut bonus does apply to Blade Sweep.

As someone who has played a lot of Phoebe, what do you think of her level 1 trait Preparation? I like that they changed the stun to a silence, but now that it’s a silence I think it should silence on-hit with Blade Rush. As the skill stands, players need to hit an enemy with Blade Rush to mark them for a few seconds, then Phoebe has to hit the marked enemy with the last hit of her 4-hit melee combo to trigger the silence. This seems like a lot of work for a small payoff. Now let’s consider Rath for a sec. He has a level 4 trait that adds silence to his Catalytic Smash ability. So we have 2 melee assassins here, one that can knock-up and silence at the push of a button, and one that needs to hit with her ability, close the gap, and land a 4-hit combo to silence.

I haven’t played a lot of Phoebe, but every time I do I pass up that Preparation skill like the plague. What do you think of Prep?

The devs already sad something that Phorbe and Galilea need some balancing.

It depends on the enemy’s team comp imo. Silence can be extremely good for knocking tanks like Montana out of their abilities (it will cancel his Hailstorm, not sure about mansformation) and preventing Galilea from retreating with her Abyssal Form. I take it over the movement speed because I always go for the slow on Phasegate and I find the silence more useful most of the time.

IMO Phoebe is pretty balanced right now, she’s supposed to be able to take people out quickly from what I understand. She might need a few tweaks in her helix but yeah. Galilea however… well. Let’s just say be glad she’s getting nerfed.

Last mutation:
Helix Level 10, Stormbringer - Blade Cascade’s area of effect travels with Phoebe. -50% Damage

Thx @dr_kleese i added phoebe’s mutators to phoebe’s profile page on my site for those who like a complete overview on her helix.

She did get some nice mutators. Didn’t like the airstrike following oscar mike, but for phoebe this could work. Will it also follow you if you phasegate ?

Islay all the way

The oscar mike mutator pairs nicely with the level 9 mutator allowing you to focus on someone without them suspecting a thing far a second.

I think it could be a silence on a True Strike after the Blade Rush.
