what does the pitchfork does that’s different from other snipers???
Split unlisted projectiles with spread:
Mainly useful against big bosses.
It’s a brutal weapon against almost anything? I think the reason people don’t use it as a main is because it consumes ammo almost faster than Pandora can provide. Mine is corrosive, and I use it against buzzards (where the spread makes it easy to lead the target and still have several shots still hit if I’m off a little), Armored Maniacs (where the sheer onslaught of corrosive rounds will roast them), and Loaders (whose crit spots are lined up horizontally (both shoulder joints plus the eye), so a well-leveled burst can hit all three).
I like this rifle, sadly it wont raise above “side arm with niche role” due to the ammo consumption, but it’s fun against Constructors with 5 point in Nth Degree.
The pitchfork is best used against large enemies like terra or large crit spots. In BL2 it’s great, but its better in the pre sequel because of UVHM and the sentinel
I first found use for it in BLTPS against the Invincible Sentinel. I’ve since taken an interest in finding it again in BL2. It’s a boss gun, not so well suited to general mobbing. And there are better snipers to be had. But it can be powerful, especially in the hands of Zer0 or Maya.
I am using a level 50 Pitchfork (fire, Dahl stock, crit accessory) to level my characters against Tinder Snowflake from 50 to 72 only upgrade I do every few levels is a new The Bee to keep up the damage. It usually takes 2-3 magazines (if slagged) to kill him. I recently tried a level 60 Sandhawk (fire, Dahl stock) and it used more ammo since it is much harder to hit the crit spot with all pellets.
I leveled my Maya to 72 that way, Axton is next followed by Krieg.
Pitchfork+Bee does stupid amounts of dmg thanks the projectiles being unlisted. I had one to use w/ my Sal when I did the Hyperion Slaughter areas in NVHM, it was one of my goto weapons in there and really took care of problem enemies nicely from a safe distance.
Because it is a bad weapon
There are a lot of overlooked/underrated weapons in this game (Pyrophobia, Sledge’s Shotgun, Deliverance, Nukem, KerBlaster, Elephant Gun, Emperor …), and the Pitchfork is one of them.
The main problem with this weapon is ammo consomption and the fact that outside of big enemies and loaders you’re wasting a lot of firepower. But it is a really badass Sniper Rifle, especially against Hyperion Loaders.
Didn’t know Deliverance was underrated.
I mean, I see nobody using it. And it’s a shame since it is imho the best anti-air weapon along with the Conference Call.
I stuck up for this on the Steam Forums the other day and some guy verbally kicked the ■■■■ out of me for it. I mean, I’m not going to argue it’s exactly ‘top gear’ but I think it’s pretty fun.
Not your fault if they can’t shoot worth a darn with anything other than a full scope semi automatic sniper carbine!
Of course, it is not among the best sniper rifles in the game, but God I love this weapon, feels like i’m using the Martini Henry from Battlefield 1 … except it does not OHK targets
I mean, I see nobody using it.
Dude
Someone get me a rope.
except it does not OHK targets
How and where are you using it?
Let me rephrase this : it does not OHK every single target in the game with a body shot. I used it with Zer0 versus bandits and this weapon is a ton of fun to play, and you can definitely OHK enemies with it. The reason why I’m saying this is because I compared it to the Martini Henry Rifle, and this rifle OHKs with body shots.
I mean, I see nobody using it.
Go on YouTube, on public servers, on other forums, you’ll see that nobody uses it.
… YouTube … public servers … other forums
Philistines, all of 'em… wouldn’t know a good gun if it fell out of the sky and landed on their face.
I really dislike most of the “worst gear” videos in particular. After my mammoth time commitment in this game I don’t think I’ve become an especially excellent player, but I have learned that pretty much every piece of gear can be put to awesome use if you have enough commitment and creativity. Except Jakobs assault rifles, nothing on earth can get me to use those
I also get irritated when people argue for the most '“efficient” gear. I’m not trying to make the case that the Elephant Gun is more efficient than the Pimpernel, but why the hell would that be my priority? If I wanted to blast stuff out of the way as quickly as possible I’d just Shamfleet.
Sacrilege! A scoped Jakobs AR (purple rarity) with the right accessories is a thing of beauty.
