PLAY THE META, B1TC# (please don't)

so if you ABSOLUTELY MUST play with one choice only, what’s the point on having multiple helix choices?

seriously? so i never played the game and i never came across that meta thing and i never left a comunity because of it? oh, ok. i don’t have a clue. now if you could please read my first post.

what seprates good players from great players is an arbitrary term. just as arbitrary guides and arbitrary rules.
with all respect to that Admiral Bahroo i don’t know, he could be the owner of the Company, the game, the world, my ass and have nine million rules, but if i don’t want to follow them, i don’t think he could do anything about it.

again, what ONE person says, is not law. hell, what seven billion people say is not a law. if that’d be the case you MUST buy every justin biever recording there is in existence. will you buy them?

democracy and fun is not the same thing.

all the comunity could say “play like this” and if you don’t find it fun, what’s the point?

i mean, did everyone saw my firts post? now i ask, what’s the point? if you MUST play in some way, what’s the point?

not in this thread.

I’ve been avoiding this thread like the plague since it popped up but it’s been consistently hanging near the top of the forums like a giant middle finger, I just can’t ignore it anymore. I’m not going to address the whole pro-meta vs no-meta debate, I already spoke my mind on the matter in a different thread, what I want to address is this “meta players are all raging elitists” mentality.

I played the poop out of both the CTT and the Beta and, so far, I haven’t seen one single case of rager. I know they’re around, they’re everywhere, but they are a minority and in no way represent the competitive playerbase. If you encounter such individual, don’t engage them, block/report (if possible) and carry on with enjoying the game.

Also, I feel important to remind everyone that we all have the right to enjoy the game in any way we see fit, both casual and competitive players and common courtesy goes both way. If you want to play Miko as an assassin, my all means, please do! Just communicate your intentions to your fellow teammates in the lobby so that they may take this into consideration and adjust accordingly. You’d be surprised how many pro-meta players will be willing to accommodate you if you communicate.

There is no need to create this rift between casuals and competitive players, just be one big happy community!

I prefer the term optimal rather than meta.

wellcome to this thread

and the thing in between is called …?

if i don’t play like everyone wants me to, im a filty casual.

if i play “like a pro” i won’t have fun. so… have fun . someting something. like. yeah. i guess…

damn i miss when i was just called “gamer” even with the stigma back in the 80s.

This is precisely the kind of mentality I’m trying to break. “Filthy casual” is a term coined by the raging elitists that gets put into the mouth of every competitive player. This is what I want to stop. The first time I heard someone call another a filthy casual was while playing Oscar Mike… because it’s one of his lines. It’s a comedy punchline, not at actual thing.

And pros don’t have fun? Perhaps if you are an actual professional and it actually is your job then yeah, intense practice hours, traveling, etc. kinda sucks the fun outta the game but it’s no longer a hobby at this point, it’s your bread and butter. Competitive, or hardcore player, whatever you wish to call them, are not pros. They’re just players with a more competitive approach to the game, that’s what’s enjoyable to them. This is what’s fun to me: Doing my research, perfecting the art of playing my favorite characters, playing for the team rather than myself.

We enjoy the game in a different way and it makes neither of us right or wrong. It just makes us different. Nothing wrong about different.

Maybe it’s time to coin a new term.

Competitively casual.

Casually competitive?

first of all be calm and rational
as i said in a previous post the game is designed to be competive and is marketed as such.
on the battleborne main webpage https://battleborn.com/en/info/
“Choose your hero and fight alone or co-operatively alongside friends in story missions, or battle against them in fast-paced COMPETITIVE multiplayer matches.”

“Battleborn’s team-based COMPETITIVE multiplayer action can be experienced by up to 10 players online in 5v5 matches, and includes three distinct multiplayer modes.”

so from a competive and a long standing player viewpoint it matters. meta provides stability in the game

but sure you can certainly ingore it you can do what you want. but it will still exist. how long do you think casual players will play battleborne for before they jump on the next smoking big title release?

its mostly for the players who are going to spend long time in the game admiral bahroo has put 5k plus hours into borderlands 2, and has made a guides for the original borderlands,TPS. and you dont have to follow them at all but the people who will keep comming back to play them will.

and by the way minesweeper does have a meta game here are 2 part 20 min long videos on how to Properly play minesweeper

the only reson im not cancelling my preorder is because that OR

and if you honestly think everything SHOULD be played in one way or the other and will have a video for everything, please point me to one that says “how properly have a proper life with properly having proper fun” because with so many pointers of everything i’ve been doing wrong in my life could use some pointers to how to do it properly proper.

His worry is that the “meta” gameplay will become required and drive out anyone who just wants to play casually. A casual player can and will jump to other games, but they also may jump back in at a later date and it shouldn’t be to environment where they are being told how they have to play.

However the answer to that is not “don’t talk about the meta”. The “meta” is a part of the game too and a potentially fun one, it’s just not the only thing that matters.

potentially.

let me see if this clarifies my point. back in the day they made tiers for Street fighter 2 and they had zangief at the bottom. i played a local tournament as zangief and i won because of the meta was wrong.

if i had followed the meta, i hadnt won that tournament.

thats why i play videos games because i can perfectly do something, where as i can’t in real life, but heres a list of videos on life improvement about 268,000 results i hope you find something not “meta” that might help you https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+live+a+productive+life
also have you considered accepting our Lord and Savior Jesus into your life?

Seems like you’re looking for a confrontation rather than a discussion so I’ll excuse myself from this thread.

All I ask is that you please take my post into consideration, it will make for a healthier community in the end.

im not sure i see fun there. just productive. and i am productive, at least at work. socially i suck. but work-wise, i don’t.
