This was the only time I have noticed it because it was such a large amount. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before and I just didn’t realize it.
I think it’s worth to report it so the developers can see. Who knows, maybe it’s a cheat or a glitch. In any case, it doesn’t hurt to let the devs know this exists.
I created a new post in general discussion.
Ah, good I found this… I was about to post this screenshot (sorry for hastily pasted columns)
and inquire why my score is atrocious when I think I did well (don’t gang up on me, I am new at this game, this is a pretty good match for me personally:) ). Fortunately, it has been answered.
That said, it is very misleading, this is straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak. Since there are dozens of columns, it’s natural to assume that the “score” column is some ultimate breakdown of the other following columns. Often I’ve wondered what am I doing wrong and this has affected my ability to gauge my performance. I am still new at the game, so it’s hard to get the hang of the momentum, timings etc. and I pretty much relied on my score to tell me that.
I look at the whole table of course, but I thought that if I had good stats but low score, that my other stats were worthless for the match as a whole (I don’t know what calculation could do that, but that was my “gut impression”), for example, I might have built a lot of minions, but they did nothing, or I did damage, but it wasn’t “fruitful damage”, I built turrets, but they were taken down without doing damage and so on and so forth.
All that considered, I really think it would be better if the column were removed until the revision, as I assume that 99% of players don’t know the formula. And even those who know it, probably some percentage of them still “chase” it, due to simple psychological effect the “score” column has by itself.
To everyone who says “just don’t look at the score”
This ^^^^.
Plus, as I said before, score should counteract K/D (give non- assassin type characters a chance to shine), not copy it. It does so barely (by taking assists into account) and only for certain supp chars.
The scoring system really doesn’t make a ton of sense for a game like this (variety of roles contributing in many ways). The system as is resembles something out of a CoD game, I definitely think gearbox needs to adjust this (if they aren’t already working on it). I’d like to know who the “real” mvp of each game is and like for them to be rewarded accordingly.
To give cod some credit:
This is not even true. In Cod you get points for capping flags, placing bombs and defending them, bringing back the flag or capturing it in ctf etc. For all the rest I fully agree with you of course.
Apologies then, I just haven’t played CoD in a very long time, I was referencing deathmatch scoring.
No need to apologize :P, it only bolsters the point when COD does score better than BB =P
They’ve also seem to have plenty of practice being that in many ways it’s a recycled game, thus why I haven’t played it in such a long time ha ha
