I do feel Toby and Attikus are tanks, Iāve seen them Tank, just tank in different ways
As you can see her DPS is decent enough. And then at level 3 you get a 77% increase in DPS, plus later you get 18% dmg, and 35% attack speed, PLUS her main combo is keeping you in her desecrate which amplifies dmg (not sure how much).
So youāre fighting or whatever and out of nowhere you get pulled into desecrate, your first reaction is to get out, but your slowed, silenced, etc. This whole time while your trying to get out sheās unloading on you with the ranged attack. Your about to get out your just on the edge, stunned. If somehow you live through this, your still silenced/slowed when you come out of the stun because she didnāt let you get out of her desecrate. And of course knock her back with the B melee, but that didnāt get rid of her ranged attack and YOU are still in her desecrate.
But if Iām reading the spread sheet right she has the lowest DPS of all melee characters, even Boldurās. Is this 77% increase in DPS from a mutation or are you factoring the Full Health ranged attack?
I think the 77% dmg increase is based on the full health ranged attack. Also, I donāt think it is known how much desecrate amplifies dmg. With the ranged attack/desecrate combo she can out DPS most characters I think. Of course the combo relies on you being in desecrate, but right now it is just too easy for her to keep you in there. With all her helix options I think we can agree she is very capable of out dmging assassin melee characters. Should a ātankā even be capable of this? Such burst and sustained damage? With the best cc in the game and top tier survivability? Like I said, when you are pulled into desecrate you are worried about getting out right? Youāre not worried about taking her shield and health to negate the range attack, bc sheād kill you anyway if you focused her bc your in her desecrate. So you try to get out, but she keeps you there.
Honestly Iāve seen every tank in this game out damage assassin classes on a number of occasions. Boldur pound for pound can take out any assassin class if theyāre going blow for blow, Gali cannot without the use of her abilities. Attikus and Kelvin can also do this with the right setups, Hell even Montanta if he overheats his minigun. Iām still trying to see the issue with Galilea, maybe cause of her small hurt box that itās frustrating? I dunno.
A side note I think itās awesome that Gearbox is taking this notion that tanks can do close to the same damage as assassins or other DDās, making their role as punching bag obsolete. Well, theyāre still punching bags, but they hit back.
I find Boldur to be a similar character, but no way near comparable. Bolder doesnāt have a guaranteed stun, he doesnāt have an AOE slow/silence/pull, etc. I wish I could prove how much dmg she does with her abilities as I feel like it would double or triple most characters. I have been stunned by boldur dozens of time, but he can NEVER finish me off. With Galiās combo sheās able to finish me off most of the time; and Gali grows much stronger in her helix than most characters (35% attack speed, 18% dmg, 77% dmg, etc.). The devs have said that they have multiple nerfs/tweaks coming to her to bring her down from āgod tierā, and I honestly canāt wait so I can play her and not feel like a scum bag. In my mind she is just that strong. However, I do love the idea of her character, her lore, etc.
I think we will just have to agree to disagree, but I will still try to get you some footage of being equally leveled in game and a Gali 100-0 before I can get out of desecrate. Hopefully I will get matched with one of equal skill to me.
I think you guys are literally missing the point of her. THATS WHAT SHES SUPPOSED TO DO. Sheās supposed to try and push you into her area. Sheās supposed to keep you in her area. THATS HER JOB. Itās not her fault you donāt know how to counter her. You wouldnt whine and complain when Oscar Mike slips behind your team and airstrikes everything, you wouldnāt complain when Rath comes in and quickly decimates your team because heās an assassin. Do you whine and complain when Kleese sets up rifts and regens all his teammates while draining your teams shields? Probably because you guys donāt seem to understand THATS HOW THESE CHARACTERS PLAY. Gearbox even put out a video recently showing off Galilea and yet you still sit here and complain. Learn how the characters play, form a strategy and get over it. Sheās just as good as any other character in the right hands with the right team composition.

I actually want Gearbox to continue on this anti-heal thing they have going on with Galelia. No other character so far has the ability to stop healing received or any such thing. Change her Helix to allow her to be the bane of Support players.

passive works with it. Higher her Corruption is due to how much life she is stealing from her Passive causes her Descreate to do affects. A DOT plague is applied to anyone standing within it that lowers healing received and decreases friendly cool-downs on skills orsomething.
Not really. Toby certainly is not. Iād like to see more Wound on other heroes, like Whiskey Foxtrot.

If orendi hits you with a fire pillar, a nullify, another fire pillar, paradigm shift, and another pillar, she probably still wouldnt match this DPS.
I dunno, Iāve seen Toby Lock down a position very well and make it almost impassable once an attacker was there. Seeing as Tanks are meant to defend on coming attacks to other players I say he does that pretty well. It may not be a front line tank, but a tank none-the-less.
Also if this is sustained damage then that still means itās a bit obsolete. But then again, this had to have been with Gali having full hp and itās against a Montana or something like that, a character whoās body is really big that he will take all incoming damage. Iāve seen Marquis do similar, if not more, damage, and from a distance, but I feel he shouldnāt be nerfed.
I would think Toby is more similar to Marquis than a tank, but his big hit box can be misleading. Heās big so you think heās a tank, but plays like a sniper most of the time (have never played him).

Marquis is very good. Not sure if heās OP, but he is capable of massive damage from the safety of his base. Really aggravating player and extremely powerful. I could see him getting tuned a little, especially since he has an endless skill cap. Heāll always be good as long as he has hit scan bullets, but will take a lot of skill to be used to his OP capabilities. Gali, I feel is much easier to reach her OP capabilities.
Speaking of Marquis, he can lock down a lane as well, like Toby, forcing people out. Thats not a tanks role though, tank gets in your face and soaks damage.
Marquis has to aim, i dont consider what galilea does to be aiming of any sort.
Iād rather they spread around the anti-healing around a bit. Seen a lot of people complaining that thereās plenty of Battleborn which are terrifying with a pocket Miko, but Iām not really sure if the problem is Miko itself as much as thereās few mechanics for countering pocket Mikos outside of āKill it FIRST, NOWā, which is generally an innately difficult thing to pull off against coordinated cases (otherwise games would be decided by the team that runs into the enemy base first, eh?).
Adding the healing-prevention mechanic or implementing a new healing reduction mechanic to some of the Battlebornās more lackluster helixes could be pretty great.

They Both play the same long gauge role but letās say if Thorn was beside a Toby and a Marquis, 9/10 the thorn will be protected if Toby is there instead of Marquis as Marquis being squishy he cannot Soak up the damage or have to tools needed to sustain damage. Also with Arcmine slow or stun the player has a greater chance of bringing them down. Also healing buff from the shield and protecting fire from the shield also, successfully defending or tanking for Thorn. At best Marquis has time distortion, but that cannot soak up damage nor can it really be used to hold a position, just for an escape.
Thats not a tanks role though, tank gets in your face and soaks damage.
Actually a Tankās role is to protect itās teammates from harm from other opponents by being the targets main focus. Itās known in a traditional since that soaking up alot of damage is the Tankās role, but if a tank could effectively protect itās teammates without taking damage than is it not a Tank?
Toby is most definitely a tank, even if not in a traditional sense of being up front and just getting bashed in the face. He protects ranged fighters behind his shield and can Arc mine approaching targets for having players with him decide if they want to burst incoming players or retreat to a safer location.
The problem is she has every skill in the game at once, most of it off one button press.
I just had a match where she got like 38 kils and two deaths. Not because my team was bad but because you canāt do anything against a good gali player. She just shows up, stuns, silences, slows and pulls you so you canāt do anything, and near instantly kills you while youāre helpless. And can barely ever finish her off due to not being able to attack her and even when you can, she has health regen, a shield, and can duck into the ground to retreat.
I can beat her yes but its always situational. Toby can melt her from afar, Shayne can beat her with Fetch (assuming I wasnāt stunned and silenced, which is almost all the time.
Majority of Raths damage comes from his melee strikes and Dreadwind. Both of them can be countered pretty easily with using your quick melee button. Oscar Mikes airstrike is visible and you can easily move out of it.
Galilea on the other hand can pull you in to her desecrate, stun you for an additional two seconds, slows/damage/silences you inside of it and has a pretty big aoe effect. Desecrate can also be used to hold down a chokepoint and does a better job doing it than Airstrike.
And Kleese can be countered by a single ranged characters. Put those rifts back far enough and they wonāt be a nuisance to you except the shield regeneration which wonāt help any Battleborn hero in mid battle.
So what rank are you with Galilea? I am a master of Galilea and been that for some time, I enjoy playing her, I know her weakness but I still feel that she is overpowered. What an anomaly, right?
