Please consider keeping combined matchmaking on PC

It’s spelled queue! Not que, not cue, and definitely not q!

Argh! Sorry.

While I can agree with this statement, I don’t think GBX is able to change things for individual platforms. If they could I would think they would have left it the same for PC and only put the consoles back to the old system.

Since we leverage matching systems on each of the platforms, our system often requires unique solutions for each platform. It’s a lot of work.

Based on that I’d think platforms are at least to some extent already separated.

Yes, that crossed my mind for sure.

If the platforms aren’t separated to the point where one could have a different matchmaking system to the other, then I think we may be in trouble.

One platform will ultimately have to suffer for the other.

If PC has the quicker but less refined matchmaking, then console loses it’s choice.

If console has it’s choice, PC loses it’s quicker matchmaking.

It’s clear which one is the lesser of two evils, but still it’s sad to think that if the platforms aren’t separated for whatever reason, one will hurt because of the other, and it’s quite clear to see that PC will get the brunt end of it.

Two words: THE DIVISION

Games come broken now. Preorders are the new beta testers. Hype sells. And a certain developer (which I shall not name, but which published a game listed somewhere above in this post) is NOTORIOUS for all of the above. They’re also really big and profitable and paid some author tens of millions of dollars for his name rights for a bunch of video games that they destroyed with EXACTLY this mentality (as well as seeking a yet-unseen Hollywood deal for one of the IPs in that destroyed-for-gamers franchise). No, I’m not the LEAST bit salty at them… /s

Okay, but seriously. We’re not developing for Mac or a mobile device here, so there WILL be bugs day one. Battleborn could’ve done a LOT worse in that capacity. Compared to other big-name titles, it’s been pretty good about QA/QC. Not EXCELLENT IMO, but then I have some pretty high standards. Unreasonably so, it might seem.

Be glad you didn’t get The Division, and the day one clusterfunk that thing was. And that you’re not dealing with the aggravation of Destiny players with all the year-two drama (Whaddaya mean my exotic is worthless now?!?! It took me FOUR MONTHS to grind the *^/&$%% thing!). And so on. Iron Banner much?

More to the OP…

We have a serious divide here, for whatever reason. Matchmaking, the way it WAS (and IS again) seems to work better for the console players, both XB and PS. Matchmaking as it was for that brief period seems to have worked better for PC players, at least in a LOT of opinions. What would STILL be broken, and would lead to an even BIGGER chasm between console and PC populations, would be to have two very different iterations of matchmaking; one for PC, one for consoles. So, in the long run, we need to either see an increased (VERY significantly, more than what merely changing matchmaking around a little will EVER accomplish) player count in queue, or we need a novel matchmaking solution that will keep BOTH crowds happy at their current populations.

I’m actually hoping for the latter, though BOTH would be the ideal answer.

It seems the bug with them isn’t that easy to fix + it needs to be in an actual patch, not a hotfix.
For everyone who didn’t know, the shepards would start getting stuck at spawn and then eventually all get released at the same time, ensuing a horde of shepard bots advancing on the enemy sentry.

I know why they’re disabled just not why it’s taking that long to fix. I’d assume adding the shepards in certain waves was planned so why do these pathing problems exist with them.

I’d guess they’re due to some of the previous patch geometry changes but that again shows a lack of testing. Working with software all day I’m more than aware that QA is a tough job but still it stings since incursion feels even more stale without the shepards.

Well, it’s definitely true, hype sells. Have friends that don’t want to play the game because it’s too few players and would rather jump on the hype train and play overwatch even though BB is more fun.

I really like the casual, competitive & spot light a lot better than the old matchmaking. It took a long time to get matches from comp & spotlight though so a lot of pre mades jumped on casual queue to get a faster match. With the new matchmaking I was playing maps that were never played. Capture was hardly picked because I’m guessing people wanted longer games and voted for meltdown or incursion but WE VOTED.
