Political Discussion Thread

Sorry for the double post, but I think you’ll find it justified.

That particular source gets the white-out treatment for a non-subscriber - so I couldn’t read it. I got the gist from the headline, CBC and CNN though.

I tried to gloss over the inane statements from Mr. T, as I usually do.

Edit : I just tried on my phone and it works, but not on my computer.

I was going to suggest opening it in incognito, but they’ve started blocking that as well. Oddly, just opening it normally acts like I’m a subscriber these days though.

Also, that link leads to an article on him being about to file. To be clear, he has now filed it with Barr.

Well, looks like being an interesting weekend then.

To be fair, it’s likely to be next week at least before we see anything. Possibly even longer. Yeah though, the wait is nearly over.

Come on Mueller, you’ve been down there for nearly 2 years, give me that orgasm

There’s always the possibility of paying :stuck_out_tongue: Or, you could take the circuitous route I did and join a university so you can perform the complicated visit to the library website and series of logins to get to LexisNexis, search and eventually get a plain text version for FREE!

I’m actually idly curious now as to how much money paying everything I read a subscriber fee would cost. Lets simply say for now that it would be an amount that is well past the digit range most people think of for such things though.

Sure, but I think having a bad sports outcome is mostly the work of ahole coaches and parents. My son plays the shiz out of hockey, football, and basketball. He’s learned how to win and lose gracefully, work as a team, how to compete, and how to push himself harder than he ever thought he could. All of those things are beyond awesome and more than make up for the times his teams have played against other teams with ■■■■■■■ parents shouting in the stands, or as was the case last month, the other basketball coach calling a timeout to yell that his team was being beat by “a bunch of dumbasses.” (You wanna see me go all Red Mike? Call my 11-year-old son and his friends names and see what happens.)

Agreed.

Agree with this, too. It’s a gigantic mistake to just dismiss them as crazy.

So… this coming week should be a good week of politics, huh? Sadly, my prediction is that @Hattie still won’t be … satisfied.

When it comes to old white men, set your expectations low.

We agree again buddy.

:+1: It’s what I said, but slightly more direct and a tad more precise.

I like all of those things. I got them from my illustrious career in Boy Scouts because I’m not really the athletic type, but it makes me happy to see things work as intended and hoped. You are one of the good ones sir. (I mean parents. Not libertarians. The jury is still out on that. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) And I salute you.

Yeah. Old white men and longwinded summaries of drawn out investigations that will likely be dragged through the mud over the course of weeks, months, and years deserve low expectations.

According to the summary on the BBC, Barr is suggesting he’ll be reporting to the relevant committee this weekend. After that, who knows? Except there are apparently a bunch of sealed indictments that the Mueller team had deposited in court that await opening. Heh, wonder if there’s seven of them by any chance? That would be… apocalyptic :horse:

To be clear, we don’t know if those sealed indictments are related to the Mueller investigation, and at least one outlet (NBC) is claiming they aren’t (based on a leak).

There’s really quite a few ways this could go honestly.

Apparently there are no more indictments coming from Mueller. Once again life has returned to its default state, “read this long document that isn’t as exciting as you hoped”.

I’m assuming it’s more of the fallout from the investigation - things that need investigating but fall outside of scope, evidence of obstruction during the investigation, etc. However as we’ve already seen, these things seem to have a way of involving the incumbent’s inner circle and their associates. So, we’ll see!

@Hattie: your hero seems to be developing man-boobs!

Thank you @Hattie. I just followed the link in that tweet and laughed raucously for the first time in several days. I needed that.

Perfectly possible, one of the things I’m looking for will be what he handed off. That said, we really don’t have a lot to go on right now. There’s some speculation to be made, for example on the (relatively) short nature of the investigation, but the range of possible results is large right now.

How to REALLY piss off the EU with Brexit…

“And Parliament has now announced plans to apply for statehood with the US…”
