The air traffic controller story is interesting because the shutdown of La Guardia may be what rushed them to make that announcement ending the shutdown. I think to a degree the public doesn’t grasp how close we got to a major problem there, our air traffic is very closely interrelated.
On a tangentially related topic, I’m somewhat curious how much damage this does to GDP growth apart from the literal cost of the shutdown. Hassett put it at .13% a week, which surprised me given his job, but seems worryingly even higher than expected.
