Yeah, I voted Lib Dem. I didn’t support them in the last few generals; Nick Clegg was… well I couldn’t vote for him in 2015, and his successor Tim Farron is basically a personification of everything I dislike about the Church of England. Anyway, I have always liked Vince Cable and they’re saying sensible things about Brexit. Plus Labour is pissing me the hell off, they’re a living embodiment of the ‘Judean People’s Front’ arguments
And for something completely different…
Actually, no:

I will admit I’m somewhat amused and impressed how fast certain members of Labour turned to trying to blame those demanding a second referendum for losses. Particularly when losses were among pro-Brexit parties, while gains were the opposite. As usual, their ability to turn the incompetence of their opponents into their own losses is extraordinary.
Labour have always been geniuses in that regard. I mentioned my frustrations with them to my mum and she said that was exactly why she left the party in the 1970s
Yep, politics never fail to amaze.
Obviously, Mr. Leno has yet to make the acquaintance of the representative of the Republic of Mickitystan.
I’m not at all sorry that both Labour and Conservatives are taking a beating (major blood-letting for the latter) in the local council elections. But there was one other party that caught my eye buried in the latest update:
Emphasis added. Also not sorry about that!
In fairness, I wonder how much UKIP was even available since they fell apart internally; they weren’t on the ballot at all where I live (so sadly I couldn’t troll my dad by pretending I voted for them) which is a change from the last time I voted here. It’ll be most interesting to see how well they do in the absurdist European elections, which I assume will be staged with all the organisation and pzazz of a student who just discovered they had an essay due 10 days before the deadline
10 days?? That’s an eternity! (I once skipped Engineering Chemistry for a week or two only to come to class one morning, and looking around, realized everyone but me was studying and looking over notes. ZOMG IS THERE A TEST TODAY?? There was. I did… ok. Didn’t flunk, so…)
I haven’t paid much, or any, attention to EU elections. How’s all that work exactly? I assume each country is allotted so many reps?
Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting For Go-Vote”?
“Mrs May, appearing at the Welsh Conservative conference, said voters had sent the “simple message” that her party and Labour had to “get on” with delivering Brexit.”
A slightly heretic other idea would be that some or even a lot of voters have less of a problem with May handling Brexit, but are against Brexit at all. So no, don’t “get on” with it…
Sometimes yes. My personal best was writing a paper for which we had eight weeks time in four and a half days. Sleep ensued after submitting in time. Not exactly a clever technique in retrospect…
I had an undergraduate thesis where I was still crunching the numbers looking for something to write about 36 hours before the deadline… That was not a fun experience.
Saw this, and thought that if they are buying aircraft with a multi-million dollar price tag, what else could they (try to) buy?
Because I like maps and charts…
I once wrote a 20-page paper on Missouri’s role in the Civil War in less than 24 hours. Stayed up all night, went to class, turned in the paper, and then went to work. I don’t think I slept for almost 2 days straight… After about 24 hours with no sleep, you start getting weird.
WHY IS MY HOCKEY TEAM SUDDENLY SUCKING? ARRRGGGHHHH
BT/DT.
I had to Google that as I am old.
I don’t understand how my team just imploded last night? What have I done to anger the hockey gods?
It may be tragic, but he knew exactly where his testimony would lead.
From the article above:
“I want to be clear,” he told the court. “I blame myself for the conduct which has brought me here today, and it was my own weakness, and a blind loyalty to this man that led me to choose a path of darkness over light”.
If anything, I’d be more concerned about how he’s getting treated worse in prison than Manafort, despite him cooperating and Manafort not. Doesn’t incentivize cooperation much when the system will make life easier for the corrupt.
