I think? I mostly remember him from his time as governor of Minnesota. Impressed me that a pro-wrestler who was pro legalization and in favor of sex work wound up winning a major office.

People are that stupid, so while I don’t read the Post I don’t actually doubt the veracity of that article. I saw some 20-somethings in my building going out in a group to go party Saturday night. That’s not everyone, but stupid and inconsiderate are adjectives too often applicable these days.

@katajak I will not have people slander the good name of the Post. My mom loves it. She says it’s the best litter pan liner for the money. Sure, the Times is bigger so there’s better coverage, but it costs more too. The Post costs less per square inch, and I can’t argue with that math. And what do the cats care what they pee and poo on anyway?

Yes, there continues to be stupid everywhere. Unfortunately many of the photos they used for examples are of, like, TWO people who are probably a couple, or folks that appear to be correctly practicing social distancing. At least one additional photo is shot at an angle making it hard to know how close people are actually standing to each other. Kinda dilutes the whole point.

I couldn’t possibly agree more.
Edit: I’ve since seen additional photos that are much more incriminating so the basis of the story was accurate. Doesn’t change my view of the Post though.

Key points :
- low rate of cases despite population and density - but then they have no ability to test anyone
- PM Modi attempts to lock down a country of 1.3b and is predictably a spectacular fail - all those before/after pics in Berlin and New York? Ya, they’re exactly the same in India - because thronging masses of migrant workers
- Modi announces an aid package which is guaranteed to not make it to the people who need it : the migrant workers. So corruption scandal on top of all the new homeless.
@paulothead - In case you wondered why I was so pessimistic about the situation, it’s because of things like this

It’s been a dilemma all over the world. Iran releases 10K. But at what point does human rights (that of the prisoners) become more pressing than that of the safety of the population (how the hell do you control the movements of 10K offenders?)

Oh I agree. There’s no advantage in real world terms of letting them out, but governments feel they need to be seen to address these as human rights issues. Idk.

He should take a close look at ICE - using masks that should be in the health sector so they can carry on rounding up and deporting people. But I suppose he won’t criticize them for that…
