Poll: Theory vs. Practice?

There aren’t any legendary shields or grenades in borderlands 1, there are 2 (maybe 3) pearl shields though

There are no legendary Shields or Grenades in BL1.

There are Pearlescents, though:

Guns:
Tediore Avenger
Atlas Aries
Maliwan Tsunami
Dahl Jackal
Torgue Undertaker
S&S Serpens
Jakobs Bessie
Hyperion Nemesis
Vladof Stalker

Shields:
Atlas Omega
Anshin Rose
Pangolin Ironclad

Oh ok like I said I’ve never played it

I’ll find things out on my own on my way to level cap (the first one, so 50 usually). After that, I peek around to see what people are doing, comapre it how I do things, and see what I can integrate into my play style .

For guns though, I do it myself. I find that most of the time, it only takes about 5 minutes to get a sweet spot down, except for the lyuda (I can’t get that one in combat). Other mechanics are simple enough that I can get them on my own, although researching some, like Sal’s crit sharing, helped me in making builds like my hawkeye Jakobs Zerker.

  1. Ogre
  2. Kerblaster
  3. Flame of the Firehawk.
  4. Hammer Buster
  5. Storm Front
  6. Quasar
  7. Unkempt Harold
  8. Badaboom
  9. Nukem
  10. Flakker

I go with both because while I like to try new stuff out, having a solid base to start with really helps. I read a lot of stuff on Krieg when I first started playing him and it made me a better player. I combined that with what I experienced and now I’m a guide writer.

I could name 15 legendary things in my sleep lol. I play this game way to much.
Also I see everything you listed is good on krieg haha

All except for the Hammer Buster. I had to throw that in for Troubled though.

I’d have to try it on krieg idk proabley not the best thing for him tho.

It isn’t because it’s a NE gun and a Jakobs at that. Anyway, we’re getting off topic and I’m sure Troubled wouldn’t appreciate me trashing his beloved manufacture…then again, they do make the Twister.

Dude you’re talking in to many places lol. :joy:

School has been easy I have a lot of free time while I’m here lol.
Edit found why u said that.

I could probably name them all… Maybe I’d miss a few but no more than 2-3.

Pretty easy to recall the list: every combination of gun Type or item type and manufacturer has a Legendary…and a few extras on top (like Maliwan has 2 leg. Launchers and Vladof has 3 leg grenades and 2 shields)

I picked both but I lean in the direction of practice.

I’ve learned so much more from trying things than I ever did listening to people or theory crafting. From way back and testing guns for Maya Top Gear to making videos a lot of times I find myself having fun with guns I never would of thought of using.

Do I have to calling in Jakobs public relations? @Abvex

You guys are pros! But I’ll stick up for the element of surprise and practice, at least for a first playthrough. It also depends what you want to get from the game. Initially I was most interested in just enjoying the story - the loot only took over later!

The Galactic Trade Commission prevented us from adding elements to all our standard armaments, this is in part due to the former Chairmen of Maliwan is in the board of directors of the GTG. So we had to innovate in other areas such as firerate and crit bonus. We want to add elements to all our products… however the GTG would consider that “too much of a monopoly” from one manufacturer. We are working hard to reverse that ruling.

However, we can make elemental weapons, but there is a high tax we pay for every copy that is in circulation. This is why the Twister and the Cobra is so hard to get.

I hope this answers all your questions. Oh and here at Jakobs, we put theory to practice.

I always tell me to do that for NVHM and TVHM, don’t try to level into a build your first few times just play it and see where it take you and learn from it.

I basically just played the game until I hit level 50- that’s when I started looking for build help and gear suggestions. Trying to take on Terra solo is usually the real first day of school, so to speak. :sunglasses:

I don’t have words to say how much this reply pleases me. Instead I’ll just use a Claptrap emoticon. :bldancing:

At least my guns aren’t made of freakin wood.

No, it’s because you’re messing with an element you know nothing about and made a crappy go at it. Leave the explosions to the experts and fix that stock of yours. :dukejk:
