I noticed right off the bat that there was no practice mode in Battleborn. I personally would like to try all of the characters, but perhaps in a way that doesn’t involve spending 5 minutes waiting to get into matchmaking, just to find out that I cant play this character to save my life. Perhaps if they had a mode that involved playing against CPU Heroes in Incursion battles, just so I can try out new characters without worrying about having to worry about KD. Granted this is currently a beta and it doesnt matter now, but when the game comes out, im sure plenty of new players might shy away from trying new characters because of this
I think there are indeed going to be practise matches versus the AI.
But apart from that, what stops you from playing any character you like on the PvE introductory mission? Sure, it’s not the same as PvP, but it should give you a good enough insight into your character.

Got you moved to the Beta general discussion and feedback category.
Thanks for the write-up!
I like to test out and practice with characters in PvE. I got used to benedict’s gliding here and took it into versus and wrecked with him. Best place to learn abilities for the time being.

I guess bot matches aren’t in the PS4 beta? In the early access preview we could play against bots in private matches.
Just like to throw out there that I’d also like to see some kind of practice mode. It’s one of the things I think this game is most lacking.
Private PvP matches against Bots is sorta like a practice mode.
I took Melka into a private pvp game to test her out, and got killed and taunted by bots a few times. It was awesome. Needless to say I don’t particularly like Melka very much.
Yea there is a private pvp mode, in there you can go up against bots which would be the closest ting to a practice mode.
I’m hoping that we can get something similar to blops3, there is a ‘time trial’ area that is an obstacle course.
I’m not sure I would want actual timed trials, but I remember playing a tomb raider game years ago where you could complete an obstacle course behind the house, and it saved me SOOO much heartache on accidental death. I just played as three different characters and though I thought I would do well as one, I was decimated. I ended up finding that my play style compliments a class that I hadn’t even thought to use until my beta buddy asked how they played. I just want a way to safely find out what is best for my preference without feeling like I’m facing endless insta-deaths.
tl:dr I think an obstacle course arena with optional baddies would be beneficial to finding our battleborn soulmates.

Me and my friend just take characters into PvP even if we don’t know how to play or pick their skills. Sure we suck usually but eh it’s fun still and I like the learning curve.

I’ve adjusted my views since playing a bit more.
What would help me most: The ability to go to a private training arena where I can test ALL of the characters, and a tutorial OR instruction area since my PVP experience ended up with someone teaching me through gestures since they spoke french and I do not. I now understand what the pictures are…

A “Try Mode” like Heroes of the storm would be very helpful.
But I mostly just want it for game-stats.

While you are technically right the single player mode effectively gives you what you are asking for , I always played a new character in that mode before entering into multiplayer gameplay.
