This worked for me for several more hours…Game keeps freezing/crashing.

So I figured I might as well compile some of the fixes I’ve found for the crashing issues I see often. Now, I see a lot of people recommending elaborate solutions like “reinstall your drivers” or “reinstall windows.” As some of us know, that ■■■■ don’t work. Neither does rolling back your graphics driver (probably I don’t know, who cares.) Also DX12 is busted to ■■■■, if it works for you, good, but it likely won’t.

So! Here are some fixes. If absolutely none work, go for reinstalling your drivers or windows if you’re that desperate I suppose. (Also seriously, update your drivers first, Driver Booster is free and easy.)

Also make sure you’re running the Epic Games Launcher in administrator mode, sidesteps a lot of issues. Namely that LS-0013 or whatever one.

Also also, Windows has been breaking things left and right with their wonderful “fixes.” It’s frustrating, and saddening but there’s nothing we can really do about that unfortunately.

For:
182f0c7b Borderlands3 0x0000000040000000 + 182e2bb7 KERNEL32 0x000000003ea70000 + 17bd4 ntdll 0x00000000401e0000 + 6cee1

or “pak decompression failed.”

I went to E:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\DirectXRedist in the epic games folder (check whatever drive you have it on.) Unpacked all of those zipped files into that folder and now I’m able to play

I also capped my fps to 120 (using a 144 hz monitor) and turned on vsync but I’m sure those are unrelated but figured I should mention just in case.

Either GeForce Experience of Razer Synapse causes 100% gpu memory usage (memory leak.) Close em. I don’t care to figure out which one someone else can.

Harmless, and may solve issues. I have no sure idea, I tried multiple solutions at once then ran the game. I’m a programmer, not a QA tester, and I’m definitely not getting paid for this.

Turning off cloud saves seems to work for some people, and also will protect you from corrupted saves too so might as well just flip that switch.

Go into NVIDIA control panel, go to manage 3d settings, find “Power Management Mode”, change it to anything but that default.

Run a command prompt as admin, type in sfc /scannow. If windows says you’re in the clear, good, if not you likely need a restart and that may clear up some issues.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth should help with any disk issues. Again, run in an admin command prompt.

Follow that if it says your pc is forked. I’m not gonna retype it you lazy lizard.

Feel free to post more fixes. Good luck!

you wouldn’t have any idea what could fix my issue of. “Crashing the second I click launch” would you? I’ve tried every fix under the sun that I can think of, drivers, bios, hard reinstalls of both epic and bl3 and disabling cloud saves. But my game just crashes instantly when I try to launch it. It was working finr until 9-15-19 and I haven’t gotten the game to launch since.

Post whatever stacktraces/crash logs you got and I can try. No promises. If you happen to get any Unreal Engine crash logs (Crash Context.xml, just open it in notepad) those would help.

Try creating a shortcut to the game .exe and then set it to Run as Administrator.

Borderlands3\OakGame\Binaries\Win64\Borderlands3.exe

Here you go friend, good luck. Gearbox doesn’t let you upload files like that so heres this.

yeah I’ve tried that, it does nothing. Still crashes instantly.

So, bad news, I’ve got this same exact error currently and even after all of those fixes above it’s still going on for me. I’m attributing it to the recent windows shenanigans that is causing memory leak. I’ve yet to find a solid solution but I’ll definitely add it here if I do.

wouldn’t the only real answer be, make windows fix it? Like that’s going to freakin happen.

It keeps crashing…

gonna need more than that bud

Well, that’s the surefire easy way sure. I’ll keep trying out other things I see and add them as confirmed if they work for me.

Where can I see crash data if pc shuts down and restarts on its own?

That’s my issue. I don’t get a BSOD, mine just turns off

You and @MDragon , if your computer itself is crashing it’s more likely due to hardware failure rather than any program/windows failure. Likely culprits are the PSU, RAM, or CPU.

Hold windows key + R, type in eventvwr, check under critical or errors in the administrative view to get an idea of what part is failing.

Updated with DX12 fix that may help.
Updated with info about SFC.

So I’m having a crashing issue that seems slightly different than the rest of you guys. I’ve had the occasional memory leak game crash sure, but this recent one seems like a “tile set” crash, similar to what we would experience years ago.

I got to a certain part of the game (chapter 16 - the floating tomb) and right before I entered the vault , I used the vendings turned around 180 and crashed. Went to log back in and as soon as I enter game it boots me right back out, because the newu point has me saved at that spot so I’m stuck in a state of being unable to move lol. Any suggestions possibly? I’m now at day 4, being stuck at this spot.

So if i start my pc and run system file checker i have zero issues and everything is good with system status in command prompt. (DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth )Play the game and it still crashes, run the sfc /scannow and it says that i have corrupt files after playing the game.

It says in Visual Studio that borderlands3.pdb hasnt loaded. ill copy the text

Borderlands3.pdb contains the debug information required to find the source for the module Borderlands3.exe
Module Information
version: 4.20.3.0
Original location: F:\Program Files (x86)\Borderlands3\OakGame\Binaries\Win64\Borderlands3.exe

Then is says to try changing PDB and binary search paths and retry. It gives me the options of “Microsoft symbol servers” and “NuGet.org symbol server”

what would cause this? i have deleted and re installed epic store, bordlerlands 3, gone into files and completely whiped all system files from both off my pc and re installed both. Made sure ports that epic said to have open are open. verified game, everything i can think of doing to resolve the issue. still have random crashes and every time i play. debug in visual studio and it says its borderlands3.pdb hasnt loaded. Any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated

2k/gearbox support was genuinely useless. They sent me a automated response ticket telling me to do fixes that I already have tried ( and said I tried in the ticket), and asking me for information I included in the ticket. Worthless.
Im sure they are working on the utter slew of bugs right now regardless but its still insulting to get a response like that.

“Verifying game cache also seems to do the trick. I’ve needed to verify after each computer restart, likely you will too.” quote

I see i am not the only one doing this everytime i restart my PC. Good to know. Bad that myself and a few others are having this annoying issue. Guess i will have to make a habit of it till the fix it somehow.
