Power Leveling Through Building

That reminds me of one match that I had on Monuments, where I was playing Phoebe. There was this evil Ambra on the other team, and she was coming towards me on that veranda next to the sentry where you buy the fat bots. I shot her with the swords and actually landed them. Then I teleported onto her, ending up in perfect position right in front of her. That may be the only time that I have ever accomplished that. I stabbed her a dozen times and dropped my ultimate on her. At this point my shield broke, so I teleported again onto her. Then I died. “How the f*ck did that happen?!?”, I exclaimed. I checked the scoreboard, and she was level 10, and I was only six. That’s the importance of levels!

Haha, a level ten Ambra is to be feared. Especially with 16% more health, damage, and levels to support her

I am actually getting a more potent grasp of how to use double legend and shard generator. While I agree a good general rule of thumb is to wait until level 5 to start working on your legends I do think there is a few exceptions based off of how you play. Primarily either notable power spike levels or extremely important utility levels.

As orendi I focus on levels until I am almost 4(often times I only build one cycle of shock turrets give or take on overgrowth) because at 4 I can get preamble of pain to proc my bolas target finder which is the equivalent of a skill damage boost as your level 6 option for orendi.

For whiskey I like to focus levels hard until I can get my scope or perhaps my triple grenade at 4. After that I try to build my galahadric gungrease and vow of zealous fury. The scope for whiskey reaaaaaly helps him. I will note that in the interim of leveling into 5 and 6 I try to keep the shock turret at 3 so I can get experience from the minions

Phoebe I usually like to wait until I hit 5 as I struggle to feel like I can properly contribute to fights until then but I am still relatively fresh with her(picked her up for a second time after about a 2 month break)

For ambra I use a purple heal item that I try to get on ASAP and will prioritize building stuff usually but it being a purple it’s not hard to get it on and hit 3 since ambra is so good at tagging minions and killing them. Then it’s level focusing until just before 6 or at 6 so I can work on building her legendary for infinite fireballs.

Those are just a few examples. I couple other tricks in incursion that affect your economy: I don’t build the first level of shock right out of the gate. It’s very unlikely that even in coordinated play that they could max it out. Kill the turret immediately and try to free for all people back and hold mid. If at the first minute or minute and a half you find your being pushed back into your first sentry, invest in a fat bot. It’s pretty tanky and at this point in the game it will be the most dificult to kill than in any other stage of the game. This could give you the breathing room to take mid back enough to get the first round of large crystal spawns to really help solidify your control over mid and give you experience boosts from buildables

Short answer: yep.

The thing you want to concentrate the most on is Lightning turrets. They by far give the most exp by a landslide. There’s two fully buildable ones and 1 lvl 3 in incursion.

Yes wrench and shard gen is the usual gear load out with 1 anything item.

Fat bots are in the same exp ball park as everything else that isn’t a lightning turret. So lightning’s first then w/e it don’t matter.

After trying everything with Ambra, I chose white healing, skill damage, and symbiotic gauntlet. Potent with survivability. (Also radiant halberd on a crit! Ridiculous damage. That’s how I kill steal)

Oh oh! Fun tip: upgrade the shock turret at the very start by sentry to level 3. 500 shards, instant level 2. Amazing for Phoebe, Oscar Mike, etc.

Absolutely. You should always be taking a free shard generator on anyone that has a necessary ult or crazy power spike. El Dragon (ult), Orendi (levels 4-7), Thorn (ult), Mellka (level 8), etc. Like epicender said, running the full Overgrowth shard route (with teammates that know your plan) can allow you to build the base shock up to level 3 before the first wave even hits, getting you to level 2 instantly. On maps like Overgrowth and Outskirts (especially the latter), I have hit level 10 before some enemies even have their ult.

Yep. I was pillarstorming when the enemy Orendi hit… 4

Crazy powerful fireballs sounds pretty fun… But not as fun as infinite fireballs lol. I like my loadout cause it buffs my healing and skills(jennerit heal pack purple) it would be cool to try a symbiotic gauntlet but buffing my sunspots all around and making solar wind better is what I like. Now if I could only get a freaking solar sustainer for her…

Also making her ult super punishing is nice. People need to give that thing the respect it deserves

Building is the way to go, and I like to be very sneaky about the way I do it. Shock turrets provide by far the most XP, on Monuments once I have enough shards I teleport back to base so I can buy the shock turret protecting the entrance to the home sentry, on Monuments I always go for the smaller lane (I mostly play melee characters and they perform best on that lane) and repeatedly build the shock turret. But I never defend the turrets, by fighting with a turret you can keep it up and push your enemy back but I like to fall back to draw them to the turrets LoS, then instead of engaging them I drop back further which often baits them into pushing up on the turret, then when they destroy it I swoop back in for an easy kill and to rebuild the turret. Sure the enemy gets XP for killing the turret, but I get a lot more for killing them and rebuilding the turret. Between wave clear and turrets you can hit level 5 around 5 minutes in and have your ult well before anyone else which gives you a huge advantage early-game. Once I hit level 5, I play aggressively and start defending the turrets with my ult so I can activate my gear.

Hard to do any of that when you DON’T PLAY ANYMORE :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, well, you should play BL2 with me and maybe I’d consider returning the favour and helping you destroy on BB, because we both know you need me :stuck_out_tongue:

Besides, I need a coop partner for BL2 so I can pull off some crazy kills and my current playing partner is on a 12 hour timezone difference so we don’t get to practice as much as we’d like. You’d be my #2 pick when you’re online but he’s not :stuck_out_tongue: Go on, do it.

Anyway no more of that talk, this is a BB thread, maybe if you tried my tactics you could win without me

My winrate has only gone up since you left.

Take from that what you will :stuck_out_tongue:

And you know I WANT to play BL2, but you know… time and stuff :frowning:

Also that is my basic strat on outskirts too. Build turret, clear waves, let them kill turret, rebuild, rinse repeat while rotating and maintaining both turrets. Level 10 in 10 mins.

Phooey, you have all the time to wait in a lobby searching for a match :stuck_out_tongue:

I draw a correlation here. I left, but you adopted my tactic, you couldn’t employ it before because I did it and thus you couldn’t level up and were useless to the team. Good man.

I used to just wander the map in your wake like a wraith admiring your great deeds.

Now all I have left is attempting to emulate your flawless technique and pine for the days of yore.

It’s cute watching you boys squabble for supremacy when we all know who the real Australian MVP is. :smirk:

Right in the kokoro…

This is why we squabble, we are good men amidst a better woman. We can accept that you are better than us, but I can not accept this outrageous notion that he has a better win rate because he stole my tactics.

It’s a man thing.

Also, even I with my great mightiness could never be better than Steve Irwin, and Ginger is not but one tenth of his greatness!
