As a Maya main, my opinion is that the Pimp is so great it doesn’t matter what you use it with. I would choose my COM on other factors and add in a Pimp because it’s awesome. I agree with Ronnie on not using accelerate with the pimp because it’s not generally a good skill with bullet split weapons (except for the Sandhawk, which splits immediately and moves slow).
Second this.
Skills that accelerate bullet speed hurt the pimp’s orb spread and should be avoided (Velocity, Accelerate, etc).
…unless using it for slag in which case is doesn’t matter - or at least not to me

I find that Accelerate’s effect on the fountainhead height is pretty minimal. More than six points in Vel0city starts to put this out of range of some shorter enemies, but for learning to use a different set of sweet spots, I get more damage per shot, and the rest of my weapons get to enjoy Vel0city too.
It makes a huge difference for me. 6/5 in Accelerate means I have to aim below the knees on a regular marauder, and that’s why i never spec it when I use the Pimp.
What happens if you aim below the knee?
If I aim at the knee or above, the fountain will split over the marauders head. One can compensate for this, ofc, but the problem is that the knee is usually not alligned with the head. So I don’t get those crits the way I want them. Without Accelerate, I can aim at the groin area, and get perfect crits with the fountain.
It’s a bigger problem with Velocity because the orbs spread further away from the original target, making it impossible to get bore action on the orbs themselves. It also drastically changes the height to aim and tends to result in lower damage.
I’m not saying you can’t use bullet accelerating skills, but for ease of use with the pimp I would suggest against.
I’m like a month late, but whatever lol… I’d go against the grain here and suggest Leg Binder, the Pimpernel is a shockingly powerful one-shot-kill weapon and the Binder serves it so well. For one (or two) thing/s, it boosts Reaper and Wreck, two of Maya’s strongest damage increases, and the stronger the gun the better the benefits. Add to that Suspension and you’ve got a 10 second Phaselock, but the Pimp kills most enemies in one shot anyway so add to that Sub-Sequence, multiple procs of PL to take full advantage of the 10 second duration for 3-5 procs per mob, plus all the Wreck bonuses and skills like Helios, Converge, Ruin and Sweet Release activating several times in those ten seconds. Against most mobs, with a Leg Binder, SS, and a Pimp, you can clear whole spawns with one Phaselock. Of course, SS comes with its drawbacks, like having to wait out the duration when there are no enemies to lock onto. I feel Phaselock is wasted when you don’t get the full duration, but using SS means giving up Life Tap (and Scorn) but Sweet Release is a good replacement, and you can always carry a Grog or Rubi, I rarely find myself using all four weapon slots as Maya.
